[Q] Toggle silent mode with hardware buttons (without looking at screen) - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Been using iPhone for several years and now in my Nexus 4 I miss hardware button to switch silent mode. It is very convenient to turn off sound without getting the phone out of the pocket.
Maybe there is some way to hack android to somehow toggle silent mode using some combination of pressing volume/power buttons?

[Q] Silent Mode and Volume Rocker

So I just switched over from an iPhone and one thing thats been bugging me was that whenever I enabled silent mode if I accidentally hit the volume rocker it would get knocked out of silent mode. On the iPhone when silent mode is enabled hitting the volume rocker would still keep it on silent mode. Is there a setting or something that I am overlooking?

The quick press-volume-down-until-quiet isn't permanent, and I'm glad that isn't. If you don't want to accidentally bump it up a notch or two, use the sound/vibrate/mute toggle in the notification bar instead.

[Q] Volume Control From Lockscreen

People just wondering if theres a way to adjust the volume settings from the lockscreen or a way to make the phone silent or loud just from thr lockscreen like on an iphone with the button on the side.
As i found this to be very easy to switch between loud and silent modes before going into meetings etc...
Cheers
Simply pull down the notification center and click twice on the volume toggle

[Q] how to turn off vibrate when volume is turned down

I think I've turned off the haptic / vibration everywhere on my nexus 10. However, the only place where it still exists is when I turn the volume all the way down. Is there any way to turn it off so the nexus 10 doesn't vibrate when I turn the volume down all the way?

Silence Mode - BOC3/C5

So, as we all now, Samsung has brought back the silence mode with the update BOC 3/BOC 5.
But the problem is, the only way that we can select the silence mode is through the Notification Panel or on Settings. We can't press and hold the volume - button to get the silence mode (like kitkat), we'll stop at vibration mode. :crying:
So, i was wondering if someone could fix this problem ?
it's possible to have back the silence mode through the volume button or no ?
Thanks so much !

As long as I remember, in kitkat also volume button was stopping at vibration.

Disable power button menu and volume keys when screen is locked

Hi,
I installed an anti-theft tracking app on my phone but I can't disable the "airplane mode, sound, reboot, shutdown" menu (that appears when you long-press the power button) and the volume rocker, when the device is locked but the screen is on... so anyone can just shutdown my phone or mute the ringtone or put it in airplane mode and that makes the tracking app useless.
I tried using "Smart lockscreen protector" by nez droid but it doesn't work.
Is there a way to disable these "features"?
Thanks
Edit:
I have root and bootloader unlocked if this helps
