Whenever I flip my device to the front camera on Instagram to record a video it locks up. Has anyone else had this problem?
It force closes after a few seconds.

I tried taking a picture with the front facing camera, and instagram forced closed on me too.

I've never had a nexus mobile device before but I was nearly tempted by the Galaxy Nexus. The thing I liked about that was that it had a zero lag camera shutter which was great for when you need to take a quick picture. Does the Nexus 4 have a zero lag shutter too? Does it allow many pictures to be taken in quick succession?
All the reviews and information I've read about the phone do not mention this which is why I feel doubtful that it's included.
I'm definitely upgrading to the N4 so it's not a deal breaker but would have been a nice bonus.
TIA

just did a rough test for you and i got to 2 Mississippi before i could take another pic so there's a bit of a lag
If you are shooting in regular (non HDR) there isnt any lag past the focus, but the focus does take a second.
The zero shutter lag on the Galaxy Nexus was removed in an update, so now the camera app on both the GN and the N4 are practically identical and, yes, they do lag between the time you press the shutter and when the picture is actually taken.

Try hitting the shutter button twice quickly. I snapped off 2 pics within a second of each other.

Edit: just snapped some more in a row

I wonder why they removed this for the GNex? A zero lag shutter on the phone's camera would make it 10x more useful for me. Oh well, I'll still be getting the N4 as it's a brilliant phone regardless. I'm sure the shutter lag is still better than my current SGS2.
Sorry to go off topic but does the gnex still have the option to shoot videos with the silly faces ? I wonder why it's not in the nexus 4.
I think zero shutter lag was removed because people were complaining that their pictures didn't focus properly, which was silly because you could hold down the shutter to force the picture to focus. It seems Google is not interested in bringing back the feature though which is a huge shame.

I think this was removed from the GN in 4.2 as well.

I have had the nexus 4 for about 4 months now. I LOVED everything about it, until 2 weeks ago. Now I HATE its CAMERA (rear). The front facing camera, takes better and clearer shots than the rear camera. I usually take pictures of my notes, to send to my friends. Since the past two weeks, the camera won't focus at all. I rebooted the device several times, close the camera app and restarted but the problem persists.
I mean seriously, the Front camera, takes better quality pictures than the back one. That's just a low blow.
Several things about my N4:
I am running Paranoid Android 3.0
I changed my Build Prop Settings to that of a Galaxy Note 2, about a month ago.
How can i fix this issue, anyone?
Thanks

You might be using GalleryGoogle.apk from 4.2.2 (JDQ39) with the 0.33 radio from <4.2.1 (JOP40D). Either downgrade your GalleryGoogle.apk to 4.2.1 or upgrade your radio to 0.48.
I'm trying to find a solution or reason for my phone auto-focusing perfectly on close-up shots for only an instant. Then it goes out of focus.
I have found older threads of problems with MACRO capturing, but the problem is not focusing at all. Mine focuses perfectly, then leaves.
It acts the exact same way with snapchat, camera 360, and snap camera.
Also, "close-up" is about a foot away or less. However, anything further isn't exactly as noticeable when it comes to determining how precise the focus is.

Hi billybag did you ever get a fix your your focusing problem? I have exactly the same problem with my note3 too.
Close up, the camera will focus correctly for a split second but wont stay on that focus. Tried several other camera apps but all have similar results
Jim.
Hi i just got an s6 edge plus and it seems ok but i was curious if anyone else has this issue.
After i take a photo and view it then press the back button for some reason everything goes blurry (ie the pic i just took) and then it exits back to camera mode as it should. Do you all have this? Im on the stock 5.1.1 it came with the 2nd update from august.
It's not really a problem so much as it's a bit strange. Literally if i press back button after viewing a pic ive taken it goes blurry then it exits to camera mode
The actual pic itself is fine it's just strange why it goes blurry after pressing back after viewing a pic i took.
Is this just a software bug or could it be hardware?
mine does same.
It isn't a bug or hardware issue, just how it is.

Hello everyone,
I've been using Mi Note 3 for about two months now. I'm having some issues with my camera.
It takes whiteish photos on the front camera.
On the portrait mode it can't detect the edges properly
Also, there's too much noise on portrait mode
I've used three MIUI Global stable 9.1.x, Epic Rom & now I'm on MIUI premium 9.5 stable.
So, what are your thoughts on this?
Post pictures. On all of them ? I do not have issue woth portrait mode on Mi cam.
Sent from my Mi Note 3 using Tapatalk
1. Fixed since 9.5.3.0
2. Edge cases, most of the time it should work correctly provided the focus is right and lighting is adequate (no, don't try portrait mode in low light especially combined with indoor, the secondary lens is not a low light performer)
3. Same as 2, slow aperture + small pixel is not low light friendly

Google camera is the solution but the stock camera is disappointing!
Hi my brother.
When i take pictures with the Mi Note 3, the images are not clear. Viewing videos or photos, they appear to be drizzled, like the Tvs of yesteryear. This phone has ranking better than the Iphone 7 in question camera, my girlfriend has this Iphone, and is giving 10 to 0 in it. Just for comparison, i got a Redmi 2 and the photos taken by it, is similiar with my Mi Note 3. It could be some software error when they mounted this cell (their screen) or even some ROM problem or the camera.
The photos taken by it on the internet or even in videos of youtubers, do not compare with this cell phone I received.
This may be a specific problem on this phone, but unfortunately this problem happened to me.
How can i fix this problem? I'm really desapointed with the situation.
OBS: It doesn't have the GLOBAL ROM in the Xiaomi website, just CHINESE.
I just wanna know how i can fix the issue.
I can shot some pictures from it for analysing.

Use 9.5+ China/EU ROM. It can still happen depending on your skin tone, though. Yea it's kinda evil to dark skinned people (but you can "fix" that by tapping on the background instead of your face, front camera is fixed focus, tapping won't change the focus, just the exposure).

Settings->My device->All specs->tap kernel version 5 times or until CIT page open->Check version info->scroll to the bottom and take a screenshot. Post here and let's see if you get a fake one or not. Otherwise, just be prepared to get a replacement.
