what is their source ?

According to a sales rep in Sweden that has yet to be wrong, the G2 is getting 4.4 indeed. We'll see if it pans out, but he's been right every time before.

Would love a source before I get all giddy

I know it will eventually gets updates to 4.4. But soon? I am still skeptical. I would love nothing more than to be prove wrong in this matter.
-LG G2

I really hope LG make a change and get better with updates! I would hope 4.4 is out this year for the G2, and I personally expect them to release 4.5 or 5.0 and maybe 1 update past that if the hardware can still handle it...

...... the G2 launched with 4.2.2 even though 4.3 was already out. I don't see LG releasing an official 4.4 any time soon. As much as I would like it, I just don't see it happening.

Maybe they'll just skip 4.3 and go right to 4.4!

they are making Nexus 5 for Google, who know, just enjoy your G2 now , awesome phone for me

I'd be happy just knowing what 4.4 has to offer. We know very little about it and everyone is going crazy to get it. We will see what they do, If LG wants to compete they will have no choice but to keep up with updates

I don't see any major benefits of getting new android version soon. Better is to fix small issues that G2 have now. I noticed that some companies skip android versions to deliver "latest and greatest". That's good until they do not delay issues to be fixed.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app

Yeah, its not uncommon to skip versions.
I'm pretty happy with my 4.2.2 though. What I would really prefer at this point is an AOKP 4.3 or something along the lines of it.

I think the issues with 4.3 will probably make most companies wait for 4.3. I will have to look at my son's phone to see what version Verizon has him on.

Don't worry, those of us with Verizon are surely going to have to wait a long time (for the official one, anyway.)

"Soon" is relative. LG has historically been slow at updating, I hope they break that mold because the G2 is a pretty awesome device.

LG needs to be faster with these updates. They made 2 nexus devices now so they need ti get their act together.

hoping for a 4.4 or 4.3 by holiday season

LGs update reputation is not very good. Yet G2s good hardware

It is still being worked on the only reason there is an Att build available is because shelnutt decided after testing that the build was stable enough to be made public. Also the d800 shares the same hardware as the 802 except for an extra mic. It was by pure chance we have an Att build as shelnutt wasn't planning on building one till I asked him last night. Just happens that little modification was needed to make it work as a result Att should be getting night lies soon.

thats crazy i would think the tmobile and att versions would be more similar than att and verizon
i take it the d800 cm 10.2 wont even boot for the 801 huh
The main issue on tmo ATM is that Google location services I believe is waking the phone every 10 seconds for no reason... This causing hangs/reboots... This is the last I heard as of an hour ago

I would like to hear more about Wind Mobile's D801 because even though the model number is the same, there seem to be many differences!
For example, I read that the LTE modem is disabled. I'm not sure if this can be undone somehow so I'm feel pretty sad that I've bought a crippled phone.
Also, there currently aren't any methods to root it (except for the Chinese app method which apparently has some issue?).
And since Wind is a Canadian carrier, I think it's being overlooked since everyone thinks Canadian carriers all have D803.
But I hope progress on T-mobile D801 will help out on Wind D801 too!
Is there any update on T-Mobile cm?

Yea it's definitely dead in the T-mobile section. This phone is the minority unfortunately, so ROM development will be pretty scarce. MAYBE, when 4.4 comes out officially for it we will see all kinds of different ROMS.

ATTENTION: YOU CAN FLASH INTERNATIONAL LG G2 (D802) ROMS ON THE T-MOBILE LG G2 (D801) HARDWARE.
Just flash a T-Mobile kernel after you flash the rom and google apps. See the thread here.

Yea, I read about it this morning. Still doesn't change the fact there aren't many Official ROMs for T-Mobile. However, I'm very excited to flash some of the International roms!!

Nope. Anytime between now and christmas. More times than not, we don't know what's happening until it's actually happening. Occasionally we will know if a leak happens to get out, but that is happening less and less frequently.

I think Google has focused mainly on performance and stability in the Kitkat and i have read the Kitkat users comments and they said...Performance is improved on kitkat, more RAM availability, better battery backup and the ROM is significantly faster than Jelly Bean...
A friend of mine who's brothers sisters nephew works at Verizon said it will be on on January 27th......
We will know when we get it

Cm11 kit kat was a huge improvement on my original droid razr. Ram management was awesome compared to stock. I hope samsung gets it right and it's not bogged down like 4.3. I've seen my note using 2.2 out of the 2.4 gb or ram available for no reason other than samsung apps running in the background. I know I shouldn't be too picky about it but thats also why I bought a phone with 3gb of ram so it would be a non issue.
KitKat has started release in Poland via Kies and official source code available now for developers. May be just around the corner. But we will just have to wait and see as usual.

Still no 4.4.2 on D802???

Your lucky you dont/ didn't run a droid x or a gnex of the Verizon variant if you're this mad. I've waited way longer than 4 measly months and still never got ota updates. The vzw gnex still doesn't have an official kk. Just glad I'm finally on a phone (d800) that gets an ota in a timely manner. Good for you at&t

How is LG when it comes to SW updates?

Hi guys, just a new LG user here. How is LG when it comes to SW update? Are the updates through OTA only or any PC or laptop application like Sony's PC Companion or Sony Update Service? And does LG carry the newest UI and apps they have on their latest phone like G3's flat UI carrying over to let's say G2 on a SW update like how Sony and Samsung are doing? Sorry really have no ideas when it comes to LG. Please bear with my noob questions.

Well the update to kit Kat actually came pretty quickly so that gets thumbs up from me.
Problem is LG release an update then that is shipped to your carrier who then has to test it and then release to it a customers and that is what takes the time.
This means that when LG release the update to when you actually get it can take many months and sometimes you never get it.
None if this applies to carrier free or rooted phones.

That would be great if they would follow HTC on the release updateof Android L. Actually guys I'm a G2 mini user. I just posted here on G2 section as there are only few members that are in the G2 mini section. Guess the mini isn't that popular at all.

I bought this until I saw how quickly the Moto X got updated. Hell the Samsung phones got KK well before the G2.
Hopefully the pressure from the other OEMs drives LG to get their software updates sooner.

LG did get the update out in reasonable time scale.
New devices do get updates faster to keep them competitive and as I said more goes into an update other than any manufacturer releasing it.
