Hi I purchased an At&T phone from ebay. model I337. its is rooted, and appears to have Ktwearker and Supersu. Its on Jellybean 4.2.2. My question is this, The seller said it is build MDL. but when I go to about phone it says MF3. Im not sure if there is a rom installed, looks almost the same as stock but does not have the option to save apps to SD card like the Mf3 version does. How do I tell if this is truly MDL build?

It booted up into custome recover, screen is pink says Philz touch 5
Then it was rooted while on MDL firmware. You are good to go to flash a new rom.

Baseband is JUST which modem you have installed. I have a baseband of MF3 but I have MDB bootloaders. So you cannot go JUST by what the baseband says.

Like mentioned above you know your rooted and on mdl/mdb firmware since you have a custom recovery and not samsungs stock recovery. Welcome to the club and find yourself a rom!!!

MDB was the firmware the device was released with.
MDL was the update that came a few weeks later.
MF3 is the current version which breaks the old root/recovery/bootloader exploits.

Nothing, really. It's more of a location-based thing, and which one works better for who and where.

Actually to be more precise, it wasn't the MF3 baseband that broke root/recovery/bootloader.....it was the ROM itself that did.

I never said it was the baseband! You can flash the modem (aka baseband) for MF3 and be fine. It was actually the update to the bootloader that blew the qfuse.

The new AT&T Baseband version is I337 UCMA MF3.
Not sure about the differences above.
When it says "Baseband" that ONLY means the modem (radio) that is installed.

Now as far as being able to flash certain Roms that SAY you need to be on "MDL" baseband they are ACTUALLY referring to the FIRMWARE VERSION with THE BOOTLOADER that goes with that firmware and NOT the modem (baseband/radio) being used.
So for instance you can see MY BASEBAND above is "MDL" but my ACTUAL FIRMWARE is still on "MDB" bootloaders. So if I want to flash those Roms that say they require MDL, I would actually need to flash the BOOTLOADER that comes with the MDL firmware to be able to run those Roms. I understand where the confusion comes from on those Roms. BUT if they said you need to be on MDL BOOTLOADERS to be able to flash this ROM you would have others confused about HOW TO FLASH BOOTLOADERS and the riskyness of flashing bootloaders that CAN HAPPEN if someone doesn't understand what they are doing 100%

Because AP is the PDA/FIRMWARE
CP is MODEM
And CSC is Customer Support Customization
All roms are based on firmwares..
You can flash any NG8 rom now..it is safe..

Hey All,
It's been a while since I've posted in here, but I have some questions I need answered that I have not found completely. I managed to sim unlock my Sprint Sph-L720 running android 5.0.1 and i'm currently using it under Cricket network. Where i'm going is, I want to put a custom rom on it but i'm not sure if it'll undo my unlock. Also, which rom would I use considering when I plug it in to my computer, it reads as a GT-I9505? Would I use SPH-L720 or GT-I9505? I see all over that an re-lock is unlikely, but not impossible. I just haven't seen anything to connect it to my experience (GT). Any help would be excellent and i'd be incredibly grateful.:silly:
Thanks again :good::good:

The unlock is in your modem, don't change your modem or firmware and you won't lose your unlock. As for the other, go by what the sticker under the battery says the model number is.

How do you check to see what version bootloader you have? I have unlocked my bootloader on my Note 3 and am running OF1/5.0. Ready to install TWRP and new ROM. But, not sure if I have a 4.3 or 4.4 bootloader and can't seem to find a simple answer and how to confirm.

Thank you for the recommendation. I dig the app, though I still don't know which bootloader I have going by the 4.3/4.4 scale. I'm assuming by now I have the most current one, which ever one that is, because I installed the latest TWRP and am running CM13 with no issues thus far.

The last 3 digits represent the OS/bootloader/firmware versions. In my case, bootloader is NC4 which is 4.4.2, my baseband (modem) is NK1 which is 4.4.4 and the ROM base is OF1 which is 5.0
