Hi,
I got a vero tab a7720
I connected to its usb a Levelone USB to Ethernet device USB-0201 ( AX88178 chip )
My tablet seems to recognise the device since at the bar appears a network icon (like those at windows xp taskbar) and at ifconfig I saw that it sees the device. So it seems there is a driver for that on my tablet
The problem is that even if I disable the wifi no Wlan/Ethernet option is present at the settings wireless and netorks menu and as I saw it cannt get an IP. It has IP 0.0.0.0
Is there a way to enable that;
I had such a problem a few years ago with wifi but with an android app I could set the ips/getwats/etc manually
Is there a solution in my case?
PS. Im not a developer and dunno how to compile or so if its needed to be done this way I may need very detailed instructions if someone wants to help.
Thank you for your time.

But i have no id how to change the settings to make it work with my wireless network.
Also the WiFi card couses to freeze the system every once and while. If i take the card out everything is okey again.

I had a similar problem with my XDAII, believe it is likely to be a known problem and related to the dual function of the card.
Have you tried the website for updated drivers?
The other options are to ensure that it you have the correct settings for Work or Internet to connect to.
I assume you are connecting to a wireless Access Point on a home based WIFI system, or are you trying to connect to public hot spots?
Contacted clubimate?
It started after I installed the latest rom version you guys think I migh work if I installed the older version?>
GreetZ
Nick
which rom are you referring to, an original manufacturer version or a cooked rom from this site?
if it is a licensed version, I would contact imate, have you installed the latest drivers from the hardware supplier?
I think you may have to go to your wireless settings and ensure connect to the internet is selected. also, scan local networks and ensure you are connecting to the correct network.
my problem when I got that message was cause it was connecting to the guy next door with wep key required.
are you able to connect to your host pc via wifi using a mapped network drive? or are you simply using a wifi hotspot?
if using a wifi hotspot, you should select auto connect to non-preferred networks.
start - settings - connections and choose wireless or wifi or network and have a look at what is actually happening in the network configurations. if you are really struggling still, try posting some screen shots of your network connection settings
sorry misread post
Just to end this topic.
I returned it to sadisk and they said it was the memmory function.
I couldn't get a new one form the store i bought it so I got my money back,
I now have a new one without the extra memory.

go to setting >connections>network cards>
then
you will see a bunch of access points
when you see the one that says available
hold the styles down on it
tap connect
and you should be ok
also check the drop down menu on the bottom of the page
make sure its on both access points and whatever else it says
and also disable the cingular proxy
start>settings>connections>connections>setup proxy server>uncheck the uses proxy server to connect to the internet box
Sorry may be that I was wrong explaine you:
1. in the setting>connections>network cards = no problem my tytn find the access point and after my prompt connect without problem.
2. the problem is in the setting>connections>connections>advanced>select networks>my ISP>edit ... = where there are no tracks of the wireless network available to be select, in way to use the wifi connection that in setting>connections>network cards is ON
I wait your reply thanks
Black Eagle
black eagle,
I think I've undertand your question...
If you have found the WiFi access point and have gotten conected, there is no need to set a conection for that access point; At least, for me that it's not necesary.
When I go to a public place with wifi, or in my home LAN, just let the connections settings to "My ISP" without any changes (no new modem, nothing at all) and thats all, you can surf the net.

my problem solved
hi mablan,
thanx very much, fortunately i searched the forum for wifi and got ur post.
i too had the problem of getting good wifi connectivity over my adsl router witg my prophet( O2 neo) but not able to surf net in PIE. when i selected network as "My ISP" it all gone and now i am able to surf my adsl on neo, without any prblem.
thanx once again.
now only problem arises of autometically shifting/choosing of network for wifi and gprs. i remember it is stated somwhere in forum, i will make a try.
Hello mablan,
thanks for your interesting in my singular problem.
I understand what you mean but is not my case, even if my ppc in the setting>wireless lan>advanced>status result connected to the network, I cannot surf internet.
If I go to setting>networks cards i find my home hotspot that result waiting to connecting but ... always not connected
= in the wireless lan I am connected but in the network cards my connection don't exist - also in the connections>connections there is not the choice to select wireless network, don't exist
Hi BlackEagle, now I undestand your problem.
I'm sorry, I don't know what could be the cause of your problem.
Just a dumb question: Have you try to change the settings of your wireless network? I mean, in settings>connections>networkcards tap the name of the wn you want to use and change the settings of the Network key and 802.1x tabs...
If I found arround someplace something that can help you will let you know
regards and hope you find the answer..I'm sure someone here at the forum will help you

This installable is for computer, its not for a mobile device. The microsoft webpage does not say this is for Windows Mobile OS.

so?
i am having the same problem with windows M 6 so looking for solutions. how does it matter if someone else faced the same problem 2 years ago?
Its relevant because MS may not be offering the same software to download. I've noticed that some of the older solutions aren't any good for certain things anymore as the apps no longer work for the OS I'm using or that the app, though easily found a while ago, is no longer supported by certain sites.
2 years is forever in the computer world....
My shift cannot view any wireless network. I tried different OS - windows 7, windows XP but nothing. Even after a restore to factory settings with Fn+F3 and windows Vista with all drivers right installed, the problem insists.
When I go to the "device manager" it shows that Marvell sd8686 driver is right installed and the green light of wireless is working. I tried everything , even taking out the battery - no good.
This is 100% not a wifi-router problem because any other PC is capable of detecting my wireless network.
Any help appreciated ! Thanks

I fear the shift has a defectosity with the Wifi card. Mine has the same problem since last winter, and I couldn't find any way around. As sending it back will cost me an amazing 100$ thanks to HTC policy for north america, I just passed on this one and put my shift on retreat.
If anybody solves this without relying to sending it back, I'm all hears
Check your router settings
I had a similar problem where it would not detect my home wifi network. My router is capable of Wireless N, B, and G. N is no problem, but mixing B & G (the router can support both modes) creates issues. Try setting your router to B or G mode only, (and configure the shift to be the same - through the WiFi Driver settings), and hopefully that will work.
Thaihugo you were right. This is a hardware problem. I found a cheaper solution. A usb wifi adapter. Now I can detect and connect to all networks.
I have tried to do remote desktop on my hd2. when i enter my 192.168.1.*** IP it says: Cannot connect. Likely reasons are: 1.Specified computer does not exist 2. A network error occurred while establishing connection. It does the same w/ my 97.103.***.*** IP. Help me please.

Hrmm. Have you managed to connect via remote desktop in the past?
What internal IP addresses are showing on your router? (192.168.1.xxx, need the 1.xxx only)
Did you place your PC that you are connecting to in the DMZ first? (This may solve it)
Did you turn off your PC's firewall and try it then?
Please post back with specific steps you've taken and I'll see if I can help
---EDIT---
Also, please post back with your computer specs (Operating System, Manufacturer, etc).
never used remote desktop before. DMZ didnt work. Left dmz on though. My fire wall has remote desktop as a firewall exception. and what do you mean by : What internal IP addresses are showing on my router?
Oh, i have a compaq presario on windows XP. Also i heard something about doing it though 3G, would that be easier. I have a [email protected] router too
I'm not familiar with the [email protected] setup, sorry.
Since you put your PC in the DMZ, this means you can access your router and the settings. Check for "Connected Devices" or something of the sort. It should list the internal IP addresses of all connected devices.
I don't know how to find it under Windows Mobile, but on Windows you can do a start->run->command and then type in ipconfig in the black box that shows up. Unfortunately this isn't so useful without the same info from your phone...
well there are a bunch of IP's, the one for my phoe though is ...1.112. what else do i need???
Okay, so we can be sure that your phone is connected to your home network.
Have you attempted to setup your computer for using Remote Desktop in the past?
This link goes to a tutorial for setting your PC up.
Also, I run Linux, so I haven't used an XP PC in a while (run Win7 on my other 2) but don't worry. I'll be back in the morning to check the boards and see how you got along. If I can't figure it out, I've got friends (and so do you, now ) that can help us figure it out.
hi there i too had a problem getting it to work 2 actually. first make sure u dont have an AntiVirus with a firewall "Lookout AntiVirus "on your phone. that caused problem #1 second make sure u have gserver installed on your pc, and then add gserver.exe to the exception list in your firewall settings on ur pc. goodluck let me know if get it to work
Hi All,
First of all, sorry if this matter has been discussed already, but i searched a lot but didn't find a similar issue.
I've been using android for the past few months on my HD2 and I was using USB tethering to connect to the internet at home and surf the web. But recently, when connecting the HD2 to the PC and selecting the USB tethering option, its connects (the network adapter pops up in network connections window in Windows 7 as "HTC Remote NDIS based Device") and when its trying to identify the network its gets disconnected (the adapter "HTC Remote NDIS based Device" disappears ) and the Autoplay option pops up to view my contents of the SD card.
I thought that it was something wrong with the ROM, but i installed several ROMs but i still have the same problem.
I don't know what happened but it was working till recently.
If anyone can explain why this is or give me any resolution i would be very pleased!!!
Thanks!!!
I have the same exact problem with Desire Z.
I fixed it! I fiddled around with Winamp on my phone and entered the settings menu and there was a setting called "Enable auto-mount" which effects the USB connection automation. It was that Winamp's setting which caused the problem for me. So go through your apps and settings and try to take off all USB related automation from those settings.
