Please help: Vodafone branded Note 3 which is rooted. Since rooted devices cannot receive OTA, how do I go about updating the device (I understand that Samsung have released two updates for the Note 3)?
Thanks.
Anyone please?

Sorry I can't help, but that's one reason I haven't rooted yet, I like the ota updates, be interesting to see if one of the pros around here can help out..
Simply go to sammobile.com, search for the firmware list of your country and carrier, download and install via odin, root phone again.

Thanks, that makes sense! Which method is best to root the N3, preferably the simplest as well?

Chain fire's auto root (triggers knox flag) or root de la vega (which shouldn't trigger it). Check the original android development subforum. I have personally used auto root because I don't care about warranty and the second root method wasn't released at the time.

I've checked Samfirmware prior to this thread and they only have firmware for unbranded devices for Note 3. Or maybe I'm not searching correctly?

They had firmware there for my old S3 on the 3 network last year, pretty sure they should still have branded firmware dude, I haven't looked lately tho tbh.

Ah, I see. Yeah, I've used Samfirmware in the past and they normally have it. But for the Note 3, I can't see anything for the Vodafone network or any other carrier for that matter?

You can search here http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/2/
Are you in Vodafone UK? If so, then they still haven't updated your firmware, it's still on MI7. Only Note 3 UK firmware that is updated is the unbranded BTU one, which is up to MJ3.

Thanks mate. This was the same page I was looking on. Can only find unbranded UK unfortunately, as you stated.
Yes, I'm on Vodafone UK. I guess I'll have to wait until they release an update (they're rather slow!)
Why not flash the btu?
Why would you want the bloatware From voda?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure you can't flash a different firmware, as in the BTU firmware is different from the VOD firmware, and therefore it wouldn't be possible to flash that firmware (unless I completely wipe data on the phone, which I'd rather not if possible). Right?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Just updated my DBT Note via Kies (in the US). Thanks.
Updated in US via Kies, no problems. I don't see that anything major changed. Anybody see something?
In Aus, downloading the latest Kies... then the Phone update should show.. as I too have a DBT German model.
Took two tries...failed 1st one, nice lump in throat!
Passed 2nd time. MAYBE someone can get this one to root easily
anyone know what it does?

Update done and seems a bit snappier, but that could be confirmation bias
Updated from la4 via mobile odin. All went fine. Kept root as expected. Snappy

Who are having device rooted n wants to keep Root intact, shouldn't update it using KIES/OTA, you will lose Root. N again have to downgrade to get Root access.

heh, I'm not really fussed.
I will only need root when I decide ICS is stable enough to use and then I'll downgrade first and apply root if I have to.
BTW I have bough Mobile Odin Pro. I just haven't used it since I lost root on my last update.
I don't really miss root anyway...
new update via KIES
OK got the new update via kies, OTA didnt work for me..
live in finland and had the stock german la4 (dbt) installed.
Now on LB1
no major changes in this version in my opinion..
got somekind of freeapp website preinstalled.. useless
maybe a little faster, the gallery for sure is loading alot faster for me
also contact list scrolling seems faster and doesnt lag
benchmark showed a average of 4000 same as on LA4
browser is also faster and doesnt lag on pages as it has done on la4
Is it available for download and update via computer based odin as i dont wanna root am on xeu unlocked uk version white note and updated to la4 via kies as samsung cant be bothered pushing out to uk. ...
Thanks

Hello, i've been hearing about an update in Germany(the one that allows u to move some apps to the external sd card, semi-transparent notification bar, etc). I wanted to know if there is an update for the international unlocked GS4.
Talking about the s-view cover, i'm thinking on buying one but is it worth it? Does it close well? or Should i buy a spigeon neo hybrid case instead?
Thanks you in advance.

Do you have any link where i can download the update via odin? I couldnt find the new firmware in sammobile.com, i couldn't figure out which version i should install.
And sorry for the ignorance, but what means MEA?
MEA is just the last 3 letters of the build number of the firmware. You can check the build number at Settings>About Device. And there are newer firmwares than MEA already

You can think of MEA as a version "number". It's not the last one though but the changes you talk about are from this particular version.
If you have a GT-I9505 I can suggest you this thread if you want a pre-rooted stock rom : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40710278
Just make sure you read and understand everything. Oh, and go for the latest rom while you're at it.

Sorry, i should have specified before, my GS4 is the exynox octa core( i9500 ). And i couldnt find the new update for my device yet ):
I have the S-View cover, and it's crap! It looks nice, but it doesn't protect the back and metal edges of your phone from scratches etc. It also get's in the way when you open the front cover, and makes it very difficult to hold your phone properly. I am looking to buy a different Samsung cover. This is the one I have my sights on. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Gal...8-1&keywords=galaxy+s4+case+plus+in+navy+blue It's a genuine Samsung product, and a perfect fit for the phone. It also gives it great protection, it just doesn't look as good as the S-View cover, but that's a small price to pay if it's going to keep your phone well protected!

works here too, Even with the first 4.2.2 German Update: Just had to hit menu button to start it up. :cyclops:
for anyone else , in the menu just select and set it to while charging from default dock mode , as most did not notice it because likely no one was using a dock.
Updated mine the other day. I noticed lower benchmark score (from 18K+ down to 17.5K+). Anyone with same experience?. Also, I have to uninstall some updated apps from playstore and install it again before they function right. (Case in point, Google Chrome, Drive, G+, and WeChat).

If he allways install a new oficial version from odin it will never trip Knox counter, i´ve done it myself, i´m using a version from the Netherlands. it will change your csc though...
Also from Aus here. Gave up waiting officially as of yesterday and installed the UK (BTU CSC) firmware via ODIN with no issues at all. I didn't need to wipe my data, it all just worked as though it was a standard upgrade.
Next time I will just import one. Especially with trigger-happy KNOX I couldn't be bothered worrying about whether my Aus warranty is intact (I pad $300 "Aus tax" to buy it local vs import - not worth it). I doubt I tripped my Knox flag as it's an official unmodified first party firmware from Samsung that I installed..

When flashing other regions firmware, sometimes it comes with the additional bloatware from the region. It's normal.
You can just disable the bloatware from apps manager.
If u tired waiting and wanna try kk, just give it a shot.
Once ur region comes with kk, u can always flash back from odin.

From what I remember I don't really notice a difference in boot logo. But then again, I've always had the unbranded XSA version. If you have a branded version, it will likely revert your boot logo to an unbranded version which may/may not be desirable to you.

Hi guys just as the title says i have created a thread for anyone who has signed up to the new UK beta group recently posted by samsung on twitter.
https://twitter.com/SamsungMobileUK?ref_src=twsrc^tfw
I signed up around a hour ago and it can take up to 24hours and I'm using the UK BTU firmware.
As the Galaxy Care app is not on the Play store here is the link to the app on the galaxy store,
http://apps.samsung.com/venus/appqu...25F&appId=com.samsung.android.voc&cntyTxt=234
Please post below with any news back from the beta program :fingers-crossed:

Unlocked flashed BTU CIO9
I can't find the galaxy care app in the playstore. I'll try finding an apk later.
These forums are so dead and samsung stopped giving out the monthly builds they were doing.
Finally something is moving again.

The best place to download the galaxy care app is from the built in Samsung Apps application.

I'm going to find a workaround[emoji48]
But only if my data stays in tact. Backing up without root and titanium backup is such a pain[emoji29]

No not yet, can take up to 24 hours
Do you think this is just unlocked s6's or network locked models? I'm on Vodafone and can't the care app. It says my model is not compatible
They'll need unlocked handsets as they are bypassing carrier stuff.

It's for unlocked models only, just flash the latest btu firmware do your research first you will still be able to use it on your network etc it just removes all the bloatware
