Reboot your modem at home and try it while you don't have a bunch of people using it.

I confirm it is slow......6 or 7 Mb/s Max...... when testing my s4, note 1, or ipad give 20mb/s at the same time using the same app....
Wifi OK here
Hey
My Note 3 is okay here
I get fast speeds. same as my desktop comp
The only Issues I saw was in the theatres, when playing TIME PLAY with the people in the movie theatre
My WIFI was wobbly, disconnecting me.
my wifi is iffy too, get better speeds on my 3g internet rather than my 67mbps fibreoptic BT infinity 2 onnection on the N3 but S4 is fine on same wifi
My wifi has always been great on this amazing phone...

Wifi problems with the Note 3 are very probably caused by the router you use, or more precise, by the chipset Samsung chose. I bought a new router and had no problems since: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46743340.
I use a brandnew belkin N750 dualband router which largely outperfroms the bandwith the client devices use. As I said before, running the test app simultaineously on 4 devices, only the note 3 is way off.....Easy to say it's the router, we're not gonna buy a new router everytime samsung sells a new phone, or they should put one in the box.....

Hopefully for you Samsung fixes this through an update. I was very unhappy with Wifi performance myself, especially after I noticed their new Note 10.1 had no such difficulties.
Simple. You buy crappy routers like Belkin, Asus, etc. you'll get inter-operability issues and crappy performance.

Maybe you should go for a drive in your Bentley

Or Samsung could just do the job right from their side.
if a note 1, S4, and Ipad4 or any of my other client computers work flawlesly, there is no need for the note 3 to run at half the throughput.
I don't doubt however that a future fw update will adress the problem.....Anyway even 7Mb/s is very acceptable in daily use

We have three lines with Verizon that have tethering plans. This is our home internet connection. Satellite is our only other alternative - no cable or DSL where we live. (We previously had satellite but got fed up with it and cancelled.) All phones use custom roms and are rooted, etc.
We have quite a few network devices in the house. Desktop PCs (with virtual machines), laptops, Android tablets, wireless printer, and other devices that use Wi-Fi.
My understanding (and experience) is that mobile AP tethering is limited to 5 devices. This causes problems a lot. Invariably, something we need to access on the home network is unreachable or some device doesn't have internet connectivity because of the limit.
What causes the 5-device limit? Is it a DHCP limitation on the device acting as the AP? Is it an ARP table limitation? Routing table limitation?
Is there a way to get around this 5 device limitation? Would static IP assignments make any difference? A particular custom ROM (the phones are two Captivates and an Infuse all currently running Serendipity)?
What about an app to better manage the mobile AP? Something that would allow us to see the devices connected to the AP and kick them off so another device can connect? Or something to change the AP's network settings? Is something like that available?
I've heard of some dedicated mobile hotspot devices having the capability to tether up to eight devices. (Verizon has a Samsung made one, I think) ....as for the ability to get around the limitation, I am unable to assist you. Sorry.

Just a question, you had 2 Captivates and an Infuse running on Verizon? Huh? Lol.
Anyways, I think it's a limitation of the actual chip that allows you to broadcast a signal for other devices.

We gave Verizon's MiFi device a test run. Maybe it was a fluke, a bad device, or something, but the speed on it was absolutely horrible. I was getting 1/4 the speed with the MiFi device as I got with satellite. With my phone sitting right next to the MiFi device and Mobile AP enabled, I was getting 3 to 4 times the best speed I ever got with satellite. We tested over a few days, putting it in different places, etc. So we cancelled and returned the MiFi and got the 3rd line for our son (and in the process upgraded my wife from her Captivate to the Infuse and our son got her Captivate).

Ok agreed, this is a monster on paper, but it will be suitably replaced next year with a 16 core device maybe. or better yet, some sort of cloud service driven by LTE network speeds with hundreds of supercomputers working in tandem, only to fall back on local CPU power if the cloud is not available or loss of signal (I love speculating).
BUT !!! and its a big BUT!, 802.11ac will be here for a good few years, way past the Galaxy S4's shelf life.
This phone will drive the prices down for ac wifi routers and hotspots, however I dont think that this is the final version of 802.11ac which is why they are all hush hush about it?

Are you saying that there will be no 16 core CPU's in the future? Its like Bill Gates saying back in the 80s that no one will ever need more than 8kb of RAM. If you are referring to the S4, yes, I know 4 cores for processing and the other 4 for battery saving lighter tasks. This however has not stopped Samsung marketing the device as an 8 core beast.

Only because they are bloody expensive to buy. What if the S4 can turn this around and make these affordable for all? With the launch of this device, maybe, just maybe, the following happens
1. Demand intensifies
2. Competition want to offer the same functionality and hardware (APPLE, HTC, NOKIA, HEAIWEEEEEEEEEE, LG)
3. Hype and buzz intensifies
4. News stories pop up all over the place faster than ever about the AC spec and how amazingly super fast it is
5. A lot of manufacturers trialing and testing AC routers and hardware
6. Prices become affordable as volume units start making their way worldwide
7. Price come down futher by retailers trying to outsell each other with deals / discounts / coupons / promotions
8. Eventually ISP's start giving these out for free to their ADSL and fibre customers
9. People begin to reap the benefits of up to 1.7GB speeds over wifi
10. The whole world forgets about 802.11n like it never existed

Wonder why this thread has made its way to the Q&A troubleshooting area?
To be honest 802.11ac in the first wave is going to be kind of pointless. In reality it is basically just 802.11n with wider channels. 802.11b ---> 802.11g are big changes. 802.11g ---> 802.11n are big changes. 802.11n ---> 802.11ac, not so much.
It doesn't say buy I am guessing it is going to be a 1x1:1 like the SIII. I would rather have a 2x2:2 802.11n that a 1x1 802.11ac
Here is how it works out.
SIII - 802.11n 1x1:1 at 40mhz = 150mbps
Nexus 10 - 802.11n 2x2:2 at 40mhz = 300mbps
S4 - 802.11n 1x1:1 at 80mhz=325mbps
the Nexus 10 has two antennas and radios compared to the SIII or S4. It should be able to hear and transmit better.
WiFi has a **** load of overhead so you normally get about half of your connection rate in real throughput. With that said I only get about 90mbps with iPerf when my Nexus 10 is connected at 300mbps. It is like the bus on the thing can't hang. Copying files from a server with ES file explorer is super slow.
I haven't played with an s4 but the bottleneck on the other devices isn't the wifi.

AC router
I currently own an AC router... Since I live in the UK and Broadband Speeds are just well totally b**l s**t, there's not really much of a point of ac on that basis N is more than capable of reaching speed of up to 300 mbps
Till broadband speeds dont catch up with the N there's not much really any point of ac
only time i think ac will actually benefit a user is particular when media streaming or wifi file-sharing and that also having the actual host connected via Ethernet or ac.

So what? The majority of internet service providers in most countries don't even provide enough bandwidth to saturate 802.11g.
802.11n and 11ac are good for transferring huge files from a desktop to a laptop, but really, not of much use on a phone. g alone is sufficient to stream a 1080p H.264 stream.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=apIyGB6wwC4
I'm located in the USA and currently using a Netgear R6300 AC Dual-Band Router and can only get the S4 to connect at 802.11G @ 54Mbps. I see no options to change the band speeds to 2.4Ghz/5Ghz which 802.11AC runs on the 5Ghz band. Very disappointed on Wifi and feel Samsung made false advertising... I realize AC is technically [draft] but the S4 should atleast connect using 802.11N.
Sorry, I just posted this in Sprint's Note 3, but meant to post in Verizon's Note 3 (whom I have my service with).
I've read about people having Wi-Fi issues in all 4 carrier's Forums on the Note 3 (as well as International), Mostly to do with message saying your connection is unstable and then switches to 4G,etc; or if after unchecking auto network switch, simply having their wifi connection slow to a crawl.
MY QUESTION is, how many people out there with Note 3's, that are using Wi-Fi are NOT getting any messages or have noticed any issue's? I might add, have also used your phone with a public wifi network that is maybe not as strong as your home network
I haven't had any problems, whatsoever. I'm coming from a galaxy nexus on various versions of 4.3 though so anything is a major improvement in the wifi/signal department

Haven't had a single issue with the wifi on mine, reception is strong and tether is fine between my devices
Good question. If enough people have had no issues and don't see that message popping up, it sounds like there may be an issue with some subset of phones. Wondering if I should get a replacement..
Add me to the list of folks who haven't had any WiFi problems at all with my Note 3.
I have just received my unlocked C9603. I had questions before, and all of it is answered below. Let me know if u have more questions.
1/ compatible with all Tmobile networks in the us
All I did was allowing the phone to automatically update and install network configuration, and . Got 2-3-Hspa+ and Lte. Download 39mbps, and upload of 18mbps. The best of it is I can still surf while talking on the bluetooth.
2/ unlocked C9603 is the same as Nexus device. You can tether your Internet to any of your tablet at will. You may be able to tether even your laptop and desktop as long as you can mask it as mobile devices. I don't have a recommended app.
3/ The music Mp3 playback is good for an android with built in day from snap dragon. It has low volume output for headsets of various kinds. External speakers are quiet clear, lack of low (bass) but if you expect that...please don't..because it is small speakers. The headphone output is 2-3 level lower than on my ipad 3 and iPhone 4s.
Those device were with Wolfson chip. I would give it 7 if iPhone 4s is 10. Because of low volume output.
4/ very snappy performance. Slow update, off angle view is not good, impressive colors and display if you have it at a straight look. I don't like Netflix on it too much.
Thanks for reading.

Same here. Keep in mind every firmware has a different baseband. Here in california iam using .534 DK firmware.... 4g is ok. on HK firmware it was a little better but I was not happy with H+ speeds. but people say there is no difference so I don't really know?
Thanks all for the info regarding C6903 and T-Mobile LTE. I just received my C6903 from Negri Electronics and am heading to my T-Mobile store to exchange my SIM for a MicroSIM. I'll post my speeds (West Los Angeles Area) tomorrow once I get everything setup.
Random thing. The box my phone came in was larger than the Sony US HSPA+ only (C6902) version. Upon opening the box, I found that the Sony Magnetic Charging Dock (DK31) is INCLUDED IN THE BOX! So, just a heads up to fellow peeps who are getting this same combination. It certainly makes the price even more of a steal since it's like $35-45 at most online stores.
Did a Sony upgrade disable LTE?
I got my unlocked C6903 from a store in the UK a few weeks ago, and have been using it in CA with no problems on T-Mo. When I got it, of course the first thing I did was see how fast the LTE connection was - about 38 Mbps. I just went to a different city in CA and measured the speed, and when it was only 11 Mbps, I checked the setting, and saw that not only was LTE not connected, but it was no longer an option. I know LTE is operating in this city, as my other phone (an unlocked HTC One also on T-Mo) was connected via LTE. Did one of the recent Sony updates disable LTE if it is used in the US? The Z1 they are selling for use in the US does not support LTE, so now I am concerned that they are disabling it whenever it is used in the US.
Bump
Is Tmobile US gonna release Z1? Should I wait for Tmobile to release it. Or should I buy this model C9603 it work with Tmobile HSPA+ and LTE right?

If the stupid "unstable" internet connection thing were to get fixed, I think I would finally have a perfect phone. And please don't say it's my router or that it works fine for you.... The wifi thing is a problem, and this is my second Note 3, and they both do the exact same thing. Everything else works fine with my router setup (FIOS), so to suggest that something needs changed there doesn't make any sense.
So, simply, does the OTA fix the WiFi connectivity problem?

I can't answer that unfortunately. I used to have the same problem at work (they used DLink access points which have problems with Samsung). They just replaced them all with HP hardware and I haven't had the error at all any more.
What I can say is that everything radio seems better for me with this update. I get 2 more bars for cellular reception as well as much better bluetooth clarity.

I can't answer that unfortunately. I used to have the same problem at work (they used DLink access points which have problems with Samsung). They just replaced them all with HP hardware and I haven't had the error at all any more.

Service bars are just a visual thing. You have to check the actual reception numbers to see if your cellular reception has improved at all. I have been using my D-Link router with my Note 3 (as well as my previous S3) and the WiFi connection is rock solid. Maybe some of the networking equipment you had at work was older, but Samsung phones and D-Link equipment can connect without issue.

I'm aware that the bars can be played with by the carrier.
I used to lose my call twice on the way to work every day. Today I drove all the way without garble or a dropped call. I think the bars are real this time. I haven't checked the actual DB signal strength before so I don't have a good comparison.

I will not tell you that it's your router, because I don't think it is. However, I will tell you that I think it must have something to do with the software/hardware interface or there is something conflicting in the phone, because I did not have the "unstable" wifi issue on MJ7 at all, and after the update to MJE, I get the error every now and then.
Just my experience.

Im having the exact same problem, and so are many many other people. Its starting to piss me off im paying full price for this damn phone and it should have anything that doesnt work rite. Verizon should give us people that on the verizon edge an option onstead of the same bull**** answer that they always give us.....

Fortunately for me, I do have the unlimited data, so I always have the option to just use the LTE signal. If I didn't, I would have had to return the phone or my bill would be through the roof. Everything else works fine with my home WiFi, but the Note 3 gives me the "your internet connection is unstable" message, regardless of my proximity to the router i.e. sitting right next to it!! At this point, with there being 2 or 3 "updates" since the phone was released, I have to say it's looking like a hardware problem. Otherwise where's the fix? BTW this is my 2nd Note 3 as I returned the first one thinking I got a lemon. The new one does the exact same thing. Wifi is a pretty basic function of a phone. If they can't get that right, I may have to think twice before I buy Samsung again. Do they not do any testing?

I asked VZW tech the same question "Don't you people test the device before it gets sold”? Like you sir this makes my 2nd note 3 I bought my first one on the edge program around the first week of NOV of this year. Do you have talk signal bars when your WiFi drops or have you noticed? What I've noticed is that when I lose signal "talk"not "WiFi", then my WiFi drops. I talked to VZW tech yesterday and they said Samsung is aware of the WiFi problem and that Samsung is working on a patch that will fix this problem. I hope Samsung fixes this problem soon because if it doesn't get fixed I will never buy another Samsung device, I'll go back to Nexus.
Retail N3
I found that when we're offshore and I don't have signal mine doesn't give the notice...As soon as I get service again it gives the notice. Our wifi onboard is extremely slow but it doesn't say anything when it's the only option

This instability function is faulty and should be disabled.
