Dear XDA,
What is the actual reason for SGS IV (and many other phones) having different processors in the US version vs international versions? I'm kind of ashamed to have to ask this but I have never actually seen the reason written down anywhere.
It seems it would be very expensive to build/support different hardware versions in the "same" phone. I know there are different radio technologies but that doesn't seem like it would require a change in processor. Please let me know what you know.

8 cores + LTE = battery life of about 2 hours on stand by (not official! But you get the point).
Snapdragon is much better by the way, especially in terms of development.

This is the second thread you have trolled on and talked about dev support when the OP never mentioned that your post is even more irrelevant as this post he is asking why there are two versions I have no idea how dev support came up but either way
Read this and educate yourself

Ting,
Though the Octa core marketing didnt catch my attention, i would much prefer the international model processor due to the PowerVR SGX544MP2 GPU compare to a last year Adreno 320 GPU.
What confuse me is that Samsung had shipped their Galaxy Note 2 variants with Exynos processor in the US but why cant the Galaxy S 4 ?

Last time with the s3 situation they were having problems getting lte Woking on an Exynos processor they solved in the note 2 this time the problem could have sprung up again as this isn't a traditional processor or it could be supply issues

You can see here which countries will get the octa core version and which countries will get the Snapdragon version

The Snapdragon vs. the Exynos ?
What is the support path ?
We've seen it on previous phone (I9500 vs. I9505 for example)
Would love get some insight as it would also provide help in buying decisions.

Too early to call, but it has been a "tradition" that the Snapdragon model will be the more widely distributed model. The Exynos model DOES come with LTE now, so that tradition might change, but it only supports CAT4 instead of CAT6 like on the Snapdragon model. I am THINKING that again the Snapdragon model will be the more popular one so that will be the one that devs will support.
I guess more of exynos as we've seen in note 123

Until we see big OEM's other than samsung using exynos, developer support will be more focused on snapdragon because they are widely used in other phones. There will likely be many top tier android devices from multiple OEM's using the Snapdragon 805 SOC. Samsung is still the only OEM of any size buying the exynos SOC.
My bet is firmly in the snapdragon side for the Note 4. This iteration will prove no different from the last generation and the generation before it. Exynos developer support has been poor at best. There were even a couple of posts where developer device maintainers have stopped developing for it in protest. AOSP for the Exynos note 3 was a slooooooow grind. CM and AOSP was available much much quicker for the snapdragon.

That is because Qualcomm has better documentation and Samsung refuses to provide the needed resources for developers. So it will moat likely be the Qualcomm gets the most which will still be limited as most developers are staying away from Samsung all together
Andrilux is buying Note 4 with the Exynos inside.
to all devs samsung released note 4 in two models exynos and snapdragon so what is the most poweful model and devs will be buy cause alot of people are hesitate ?
Snapdragon.
Dev support has always been much larger for the Snapdragon.
If you want dev support, DO NOT BUY AN EXYNOS DEVICE.
So I'm thinking of buying a used Note 3 because my old Note 2 died and I have a few questions. (Please answer them in order)
1)What are the different versions of the Note 3 (IK that the 4G is the snapdragon model and the exynos model is the normal note 3, am i missing something?)
2)Is there still support for both of the models?
3)Which model has better development support?
4)Does the Exynos model have AOSP support or only TW?
5)Is there any ROM for the Exynos model with S6 and/or Note 4 features?
Thanks a lot in advance!
1- there are many. But yes these 2 are main.
2- from sanmsung? Barley. Devs? All you want.
3- SM-N9005
4-both i think
5-look at development forums for note 3 and you will see.
I recommend snapdragon SM-N9005 due to better dev support here. Some great custom roms it has here.

Thanks! I'm happy that the community still cares about this device! I will try to get the snapdragon version but I would love if more people answered my questions so i can learn the opinions!
1- There are two versions only, hardware wise. Snapdragon and Exynos. But there are probably a zillion version for US carriers, about which I have least interest. In any case, all of them have either SD or Exynos.
2- Snapdragon, yes, Exynos, very minimal. But yes, it's great to see that some new stuffs are cooked for this old champ. But I don't think people will be interested in Note 3 for any longer, as soon as Note 5 goes official, you can think support will be near nil.
3- Snapdragon.
4- As far as I have noticed, I think there is CM for Exynos devices, don't take my word for it though.
5- No idea.
In short, get the Snapdragon version if you can.
1) The main two versions are the Snapdragon (N9005) and Exynos (N900) variant. Everything else is one of those two for a different region or provider.
2)From Samsung, the usual. (meaning, barely.). From the devs here at XDA, plenty.
3) Snapdragon always has better dev support.
4) no idea.
5) no idea, either. Sorry.
Technically the N9005 4G is the 'normal' device. Or international, or whatever they're calling it this week. This is due to the majority of the countries now having 4G. (it was the other way around 5 years ago.) The N900 3G Exynos was meant for lower-level markets that don't have 4G yet.
Keep in mind that the Snapdragon device comes with an Adreno, and the Exynos has a Mali gpu. As well as the Snapdragon having 2.3gHz, and the Exynos a meagre 1.9gHz processor. So if you intend to game on it, Adreno/Snapdragon is the way to go.
Always go for the Snapdragon version if you have the option.
