Installing AOSP mms.apk on rooted Note 3? - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I hope I won't get in trouble for accidentally asking a question that I might be able to figure out with more research. But I despise the Samsung texting application, and I wanted to know if it was possible to install a 4.3 AOSP mms app?

+1 I also want this. I don't think it's a bad question at all

Yea, I found out pretty quick that the POS gear doesn't work with Handcent (but what's REALLY annoying is it doesn't work with gmail either)

It's ugly and doesn't put any information in the notifications. At least in the few minutes I used it for, it just said "message" in my pull down.

Is xda neglecting tapatalk? Never had a new update since its release. We want search, and I found a bug. If I want to refresh a forum, it locks up at processing. I have to manually refresh each thread I am following.

your having problems refreshing? im having problems using the app altogether. most of the times when i open it, it flat out closes. not even a force close sometimes. just gave up on it really.
Thanks for the heads-up, I was thinking about gettin it... Now I'll pass.
Jero, it's still good to use. The only problem I really get is the refreshing and locking up, which I just kill it using autokiller..Otherwise, it's fine. But an update would be nice.

Why exactly can't they just fix this one? Bad marketing tactic if you ask me. I work in a biz that relies on attractiveness and if I offer a turd for free, what makes you think the customer would pay for that turd?

Why use an app that the browser can do just fine. I bookmarked this site logged in and don't have to worry about an app. Browser even keeps me logged in.

You just kinda answered it. The XDA Talkatap was a freebee. Why would he update the freebee when you can go donate to him for the full version?

I'm sure someone from XDA created it. Not necessarily a mod or anything, but someone that frequents it. But yeah...in the Hero section this shouldn't be. Probably the General > General Section...

I think XDA has to install a plugin, but from that aspect on, its all tapatalk. If you install the plain tapatalk app, there are hundred of forums to browse.

Yes. Taparalk makes it. Forums apply plungins. The XDA Tapatalk app itself was made just for XDA though. I'm sure the Dev that made it comes to XDA...either that or XDA asked for one. In either case, the Dev would oprobably see this in the General section as opposed to a device specific section as XDA is not the Dev.

the IR blaster was a HORRIBLE idea.
i have used it for evil and mayhem at every store; in fact i find myself cruising electronics sections just for kicks, or changing channels on game day at bars, screwing with friends' TV's or whatever, and trying to come up with creative ways to mess with people.
to date my best work was changing some game to princess diaries at a bar and changing language to spanish. that was one hysterical night.

no JellyBomb for G4 ...yet
Josh is waiting for the Note III I'm pretty sure... So it would need to be ported. I would do it but I have several other projects going on right now... I'll ask around in our team hangout and see if anyone may want to take it on... Unless someone else outside the team would like to volunteer (someone with development experience).:good:

New to JellyBomb!!
I have a stupid question: I used to get a notification when I plugged in my charger and now it doesn't work. I know its silly for even wanting the sound, but I have my stupid reasons. Is there a setting for this? I've exhausted every option I think. Sprint Samsung Note 2!

Nope, no setting. On a stock rom, that stays on by default. No way to toggle it. Have you installed a custom rom? Many devs remove that feature.

What is LG Intelligent Agent?

I am interested to know what is LG Intelligent Agent? I think that maybe taking some battery away from me, and want to know if it's safe to disable it without messing with anything? Thanks.
I'm like 99% sure it's safe to freeze, but if you want to be sure there's a thread somewhere where someone found like 50+ apps that are safe to freeze and listed them all.

Nobody really knows, just like much of the other bloatware on the phone
Rumors say it will turn your phone into a dumbphone Nokia 3310 without the same durability, so I am afraid to do it myself.

[Q] Imessage?

Sorry if this is the wrong section for this.
I know in the past you could get imessage on Android, but there were a lot of security concerns with it and now even that app is removed from the google play store. Is there any secure way to get the app? If not what app is the closest to it? Right now I'm using textra, and I really like it, but I have noticed some bugs with it. Most people I text use iPhones so that's why I would love to get imessage. I'm rooted if that helps with anything.

Doubtful it's safe. Considering the only other methods I've seen involved using a Mac or iPhone as a proxy to connect it, it has to run through one somewhere, and there's no guarantee it's encrypted.
