Hello dear XDA Community
So, im facing some problem developing my own rom. After several failures, i was able to create a flashable zip of my rom. The problem is, that i get Bootloops after flashing it. So, i was not even able to take a logcat at the boot. The logcat file stays always empty. Now my question is, how am i able to find the error causing bootloops?
Thanks in Advance

I recently installed an SD Build of an MIUI Rom. I'm really enjoying it, but a new version is out and I'd like to upgrade to it. I've been searching trying to find the steps to do so but I can't figure it out!!! Can anyone please point me in the right direction. It's probably really simple but It's driving me crazy!
One more thing...
I keep getting a notification about doing an OTA update but the notification is in Chinese and I can't figure out the instructions.
to make an update first copy the data.img in the rom to somewhere safe. flash the updated rom as you are flashing it first time. after flashing a reboot may be good. then copy your old data.img to replace newly created one. then reboot again.
I appreciate your response.
Hi people,
I'm having a problem and hope your vastly superior knowledge will help me out..
I am struggling to get clockwork recovery to boot into recovery mode... I have tried through booting with volume down and also from rom manager.. but wont access recovery....
I have successfully loaded JJ and swedish spring previously with no problems and swedish spring rls5 is running fine. I am trying to load a replacement rom, portugese spring rls3b. and struggling...
Am i doing something wrong or missing the blindingly obvious ???
All help or advice gratefully recieved.
What happens when you try to go into recovery?
I appear to have solved my own problem !!!!!
I had spent ages trying before i resorted to posting on hee for your help...
However i then downloaded the latest recovery image and then tried Fix Permissions in rom manager... Between these 2 things i was then able to boot into recovery and install new rom...
All seems well and just playing with new rom now to see if it is any better than swedish spring... Most people report it is faster and better for battery drain so will soon see.
Thanks for quick reply... I was just getting the green man until i eventually released my finger. It would then just boot normally.. All fixed now though thanks..
As a note for anyone else getting similar issues, i was flashing a few ZTE Blades the other week and found that more recent versions of clockworkmod was causing me similar problems, but the fix permissions didnt work.
The solution was to use clockworkmod 2.5.0.8 instead of the newer ones.
Hey Guys!
Sorry about writing about a topic that seems to have been covered many times before. The solutions I found did however not solve my problem, I am still stuck.
I have ClockworkMod Recovery v3.0.0.5 installed, it boots fine but with tons of file system related errors.
E:\Unable to process volume! Skipping...
E:\unknown volume for path... this is repeated probably about 10 times one for each folder it tries to access
I tried going back to Odin and install different PIT files that I could find; gt-p1000_mr.pit and p1_add_hidden.pit
I then tried doing the dbdata.rfs.tar and just dbdata.tar
Still same problem with the filesystem
All of this started with my device just stopping at the Sammy logo after re-boot. The re-boot was a normal one, not related to any patching, modding or anything else. A normal daily reboot. I have an about one year old Overcome ROM in my phone that I haven't fiddled at all with since I installed it. It has been working just fine.
I didn't have the partion or filesystem problem at this point...
I booted into Clockwork and ran evert format/file wipe menu option I could find, with the intent to just install a newer ROM later to resolve the problem and get a new fresh completely clean tab.
The problem started after this... I thought that I would just be able to get a new Overcome, BOCA or some other nice ROM from the SD card. Problem was of course that my SD card couldn't be mounted after I had wiped everthing...
So I tried all the above stuff with the dbdata and pit files but it didn't recover...
Any ideas?
Thank you!
well, get the restock files from overcome site and flash a fresh gingerbread safe 5, all the needed files are in the zip.
good luck
ps: Read the manual, in case you forgot about something.

You did help me, thank you! I needed the stock ROM I did however manage to make things even worse and ended up with the "Phone-Exclamation mark-Computer"-logo. That got me worried. Some googling did however help me solve the problem.
I made a write up to help other come from this state to a completely working phone with custom ROM installed. Hope it will help others. http://blog.vel.nu/?p=97
Again, thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
you're welcome
by the way, the process of debriking the tab is very well explained on your blog!
Thank you! (in case i brick mine, i will refer to your blog)

Using a Samsung N7100
Hey guys, I've been trying out ROMs for the past couple weeks and finally decided I wanted to replace my stock ROM with the energy rom to save space. I wiped all files from my stock ROM and then tried to flash the energy rom. I got an error so decided just to leave it for another day and created a second partition for the energy rom. Forgetting to flash my recovery back to my stock slot, I booted in to the energy rom. Now my recovery buttons don't work, probably due to the fact that they were installed on the stock rom. I don't have any way of getting in to the recovery and that kind of worries me. I've been reading up on fastboot, but don't know were to be begin or get ahold of rsdlite since all of the links send me to spam. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I am currently using Safestrap 3.1.2 and do have a backup image of my stock ROM on my external SD card (at least I was smart enough to remember that).
Figured it out
Figured it out! Just in case anybody else has this problem, use RSD to fastboot the stock image to your phone. I know everything I read was talking about this, but I couldn't find detailed instructions anywhere. Most time consuming part for me was editing the xml file due to "oem" command lines that weren't recongnizable. There is a fixed xml file on droidrazr forums for those who need it!
Please help same issue
