[Q] - Help updating MIUI Rom - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

I recently installed an SD Build of an MIUI Rom. I'm really enjoying it, but a new version is out and I'd like to upgrade to it. I've been searching trying to find the steps to do so but I can't figure it out!!! Can anyone please point me in the right direction. It's probably really simple but It's driving me crazy!

One more thing...
I keep getting a notification about doing an OTA update but the notification is in Chinese and I can't figure out the instructions.

to make an update first copy the data.img in the rom to somewhere safe. flash the updated rom as you are flashing it first time. after flashing a reboot may be good. then copy your old data.img to replace newly created one. then reboot again.

I appreciate your response.

[Q] Is there a guide for "notsonoob" noobs???

Hi all,
The reason why i ask this is because i would like to load some custom firmware onto my KF. I am currently running 6.2.2 (ota) and i am rooted with the android market and go launcher installed. I was looking through the forums and i was trying to find a guide... or something... that basically says what to do next. I didn't want to jump into doing something and make myself a $200 paper weight...
Any assistance/guidance would greatly be appreciated.
not really a guide but maybe a good starting point:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1467013
Thanks for the reply, I was reading around and i DLed the latest KFU, and installed the twrp recovery. I guess what i am looking for is an order of doing things... I have a samsung galaxy s 4g, vibrant, and a P.O.S dart (all rooted w/ custom firmware installed)... all the forums with these devices had posts with an order of doing things so you didn't end up with an expensive paper weight...
this isn't me taking a stab at the dev's for the KF BTW, but maybe a suggestion... as i have no problem following good instructions to the S (at the end... get it? teehee) ... unless i'm sleepy.. then i miss stuff...
Any help... or even a posting with links (in order) of kinda what to do...
thanks all.
if you have a recovery (twrp in your case) then you have all you need to flash a other rom
- go to twrp
- make a backup of your current rom
- copy the rom you would like to flash to the root of sdcard (the .zip file)
- follow the instructions in the op of the selected rom (when and what to wipe/purge - it's different depending on the rom)
- flash the new rom
- reboot and be patient
- the first boot can need up to 20min

Safestrap Recovery Not Responding (Different Than Most Issues)

Hey guys, I've been trying out ROMs for the past couple weeks and finally decided I wanted to replace my stock ROM with the energy rom to save space. I wiped all files from my stock ROM and then tried to flash the energy rom. I got an error so decided just to leave it for another day and created a second partition for the energy rom. Forgetting to flash my recovery back to my stock slot, I booted in to the energy rom. Now my recovery buttons don't work, probably due to the fact that they were installed on the stock rom. I don't have any way of getting in to the recovery and that kind of worries me. I've been reading up on fastboot, but don't know were to be begin or get ahold of rsdlite since all of the links send me to spam. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I am currently using Safestrap 3.1.2 and do have a backup image of my stock ROM on my external SD card (at least I was smart enough to remember that).
Figured it out
Figured it out! Just in case anybody else has this problem, use RSD to fastboot the stock image to your phone. I know everything I read was talking about this, but I couldn't find detailed instructions anywhere. Most time consuming part for me was editing the xml file due to "oem" command lines that weren't recongnizable. There is a fixed xml file on droidrazr forums for those who need it!
Please help same issue

[Q] kitkat update question

I was trying to reroot my phone after the update. Cause I didn't see the one or two pages outta like 50 lol about when to root ur phone before final part going from q to c. Anyways I was trying a few different methods and it got me to a update or something screen. With selections like install update from sideload or files and then there was another one. It kinda reminded me Of how HTC'Bootloader menu looked but blacked out. Anyone know what it was? Just curious. and does anybody know of any successful way to root the new updated firmware? And doesn't it help any that I have EFS backup files from right before I went to stock?

Install Lollipop; a few Questions because of Recovery/Radio...

Hello,
I really need to update my Galaxy S4 i9505.
I rooted it 2 years ago with help. Now I have an really old custom Recovery (PhilZ) and the old Radio/Bootloader from the last original Samsung Software I had.
I want to update my phone to Lollipop (CM12.1).
I'm a bit confused what I need to do because of the new formating that comes with Android 5.x.x.
I know, that I need to update my Recovery.
I'm a bit scared to do this with my PC and Odin because I fear a connection error because of whatever ( a bit paranoid I know...).
So I know I am able to flash a new Recovery as a Zip from my old one. BUT: How do I create a flashable .zip from an .img-File of TWRP ?
Another question is: Do I need to update my radio/bootloader? My phone does work. Sometimes the connection isn't that good but I didn't care before.
I would do the following:
- Update recovery (how ever...)
- Backup my System
- Full wipe &Install as always
Did I forget something when I came from KitKat 4.4.4 (Cm11)?
My PhoneData:
CM 11-20150330-NIGHTLY
Baseband: i9505XXUEMJ5
Kernel: CM
Can somebody help me so that I do not miss anything? I don't wanna have a Bootloop or a bricked phone... I love my phone

Roms should work without updating bootloader and modem. But it's not that hard to update them. As long as Odin detects your phone and you follow a good guide. It should be simple. I updated mine twice and worked every time.
Thank you for the link!
Where did you find this one? In case I need to flash a Zip again?
The rest of my to do list is okay I think?
Alright! That sounds really good!
Thanks
EDIT:
Modem update: is this really necessary? I mean what happens If I don't?^^ Yeah I am Lazy
The zip can be found in the Optimized CyanogenMod 12.1 thread by AntaresOne, located in the original android development section.
It is generally recommended to update modem only if you have signal issues or other network problems. You know, if it ain't broken don't fix it.

Installing Lineage OS, anyone get it working?

I was curious if anyone had any success getting lineage working on their sprint htc 10.
I've been trying to get it to work for the last few days with no success. I've unlocked bootloaders, s-off, installed twrp, root. I've been able to install some other roms like bad boys and viper. When trying to boot lineage it just hangs in a loop on the shining andriod logo.
If anyone has it working and any tips I'd really appreciate it. Thanks guys!
LOL!
Make sure you're Super CID, and follow this thread, very, very, closely.
I went through hell, but it ultimately ended up working for me, and I had RUU'd the, Sprint .30 version to start, like you.

AOSP on Sprint $$$
link is dead for me
nvmm soooooorrry
I did get this figured out. The short story is I needed to upgrade the firmware, so now I'm on the latest developer unlocked.
Basically you need to get superCID
Download the firmware you want
Delete the radio.img in the zip
Edit the text file to match your mid
Rezip then flash
This is the short story version of it. I'll link to the thread when I get home about how to flash the firmware.
So how is this running for y'all?
The biggest thing I miss from my M8 to 10 is the loss of an AOSP ROM.

When I unzip the rom.zip file, it consists of 26 additional zip files which cannot be decompressed. How does one find the radio.img?
Anyone using this as a daily ROM yet? Is it there yet?
