[Q] Clockwork recovery problems ??? - Blade General

Hi people,
I'm having a problem and hope your vastly superior knowledge will help me out..
I am struggling to get clockwork recovery to boot into recovery mode... I have tried through booting with volume down and also from rom manager.. but wont access recovery....
I have successfully loaded JJ and swedish spring previously with no problems and swedish spring rls5 is running fine. I am trying to load a replacement rom, portugese spring rls3b. and struggling...
Am i doing something wrong or missing the blindingly obvious ???
All help or advice gratefully recieved.

What happens when you try to go into recovery?

I appear to have solved my own problem !!!!!
I had spent ages trying before i resorted to posting on hee for your help...
However i then downloaded the latest recovery image and then tried Fix Permissions in rom manager... Between these 2 things i was then able to boot into recovery and install new rom...
All seems well and just playing with new rom now to see if it is any better than swedish spring... Most people report it is faster and better for battery drain so will soon see.

Thanks for quick reply... I was just getting the green man until i eventually released my finger. It would then just boot normally.. All fixed now though thanks..

As a note for anyone else getting similar issues, i was flashing a few ZTE Blades the other week and found that more recent versions of clockworkmod was causing me similar problems, but the fix permissions didnt work.
The solution was to use clockworkmod 2.5.0.8 instead of the newer ones.

[Q] Why does this seem so confuzzling?

Maybe I simply lucked out, but I never seemed to have issues with the captivate. Installing and upgrading roms seems so much more difficult on the streak than on the captivate. Can anyone help me out figuring where I went wrong? (aside from the obvious mistake of running QDL prior to understanding what was being installed).
Got my pretty new WHITE (saw somewhere that this was relevant) streak today, first and foremost thing I wanted to do was get rid of 1.6 for 2.2. QDLTools seemed to quickly and efficiently do that for me, with the exception that the camera button no longer works, and it doesn't do anything when I attempt to change my SMS ringtone.. I'm not entirely sure why but these two things drove me batty, so I decided to try flashing 1.5.1 hoping it would solve one or both of these issues. Flashed This clockwork recovery after rooting and flashing the baseband listed in the 1.5.1 release thread. Then I happily loaded clockwork recovery and loaded from .zip in CW recovery. Until this point it was not really any more difficult than captivate, just a few extra steps.
However after clicking reboot it simply goes into the dell logo loop. Trying to avoid being a complete fool, I looked around and tried to find others with the same issue. Lo and behold I found a handful...but I have to admit I'm suffering from an I D 10 T error and cannot for the life of me understand whats causing this or how to fix it. Is there anyone that might be willing and able to help me out? I'm honestly rather lost. Just for starters what version of Streakdroid gets loaded with QDLTools?
By fix this I mean successfully flash 1.5.1, I can recover from the loop by running QDLTools and I once again have a functioning streak on 2.2
*EDIT* An additional dumb question, but are there any roms for 2.2 that forego the live wallpapers for the 4x8 page layout? cuz the 4x8 layout and larger facebook widget and whatnot seemed pretty nifty. (Or a 2.1 rom that has mobile hotspot ability)
No idea what this QDLTool is so i can't help you with that i'm afraid.
And yes, it is somewhat more complicated on the streak than on phones such as the Nexus, but it's not too bad.
If you ever get stuck at a boot loop, just wipe, flash the stock recovery then flash a stock (official) ROM. That usually sorts everything out, then you can flash a custom recovery back and then flash whatever ROM you like.
Downgrading is a bit iffy on the streak, it's a little temperemental, but there are guides available.

thanks! saw that guide but overlooked it because i thought I was doing it all. apparently I was wrong, recovery wasn't actually finishing the loading of the rom.. not working yet because I get an assert failed error regarding boot.img anyone have an idea on this?

Problem with Baldoz Rom 5.0 in Developers Part!

Hi there an good evening. I have a major problem with the Custom Rom Baldoz Rom5.0, just released today.
I cant post in the developers thread, cause i dont have 10 posts, sadly. So i need to post it herer
Just downloaded it, disabled lagfix via CWM (Darkys Rom9.5) and wiped. After this i installed the new rom. Looks good in the first place. But im not satisfied with the performance so i tried to get back to Darkys via CWM, but now i have the problem:
Its not possible via the 3-key method to go into recovery. Just stucks at Galaxy s IT9000 and didnt go any further.
Removed battery, but that didnt solve anything.
Hope, u can help me. Would be great
Try to go in recovery mode using extended Power menu
The same here! Stuck and missing appz

The ROM Manager cost me a days frustration

Started with Unlocked, rooted AT&T used in Italy.
Been away from XDA for a while, but decided to update my Atrix which was modified to my liking when I got just after release day. The rebooting for no reason and the lack of VOIP support convinced me it was time to upgrade to 2.3.4
Anyway I installed The ROM Manager and tried to make a backup, it crashed.
Tried to "fix permissions" and the phone died... I mean really died... Soft brick :-(
Since I am a noob it took me all day to figure how to get it back to "normal" by flashing back to old OEM .SBF file and thereafter upgrading to ATT-2.3.4_Pudding_preroot.
I set it up did the tethering thing the Root thing in windows command Ect.
Now for the issue... Updated a lot of things and thought that THIS would be a nice time to back-up my rom and tried The ROM Manager again.
It will not boot up in recovery mode (wanted to do the WEBTOP hack) and when I tried to do a backup the bastard phone died AGAIN..... Boot Failure 2 and nothing you do can change it??? Press volume up / down both together with power or not.... NOTHING...
Resulted in another flash and then all all over again with Rooting Ect...
What is wrong with this bastard "The ROM Manager" program and am I the only one running in to this?????
I will now remove this program but it did really seem like such a handy one to have...??
Sorry if this post comes out a little negative but this thing just cost me a otherwise perfect Sunday :-(
Robert
Fastboot flash rom racer recovery. Your recovery is probably bad.
I voided my warranty and your mum.
When I first got my Atrix, I downloaded ROM manager and flashed CWM recovery from it, and Got the "Failed to boot 2" error as well. I had to pull the battery and it rebooted just fine. Not sure a full sbf flash was necessary.
But like Pukemon said.. flash rom racer's recovery..
Sorry to display myself as a real noob / newbie again, but I have searched "Fastboot flash rom racer recovery" in various formats and have not found the "golden solution" anybody who have a link or a "how-to-do" which will give me a SAFE way to do this??
If my recovery is bad does this repair it? do I flash another recovery? or how does this work.... and most of all will I be able to use and run The Rom Manager when done?
Thanks in advance
Robert

Fail flash, what to do?

Hello!
I was about to unroot and get back to stock with my A500 so I flashed a stock ROM via CWM to get a ota-update. Before i had a custom ICS ROM installed and now I installed a HC stock ROM. The problem is that i forgot to go through the wipe menu in CWM before the flash and now when I start up my tablet I first see the ACER logo as usual, then a android text-logo which the tablet is stuck at. I've waited 20 minutes and is still shows the same thing. The logo has an animation which i still can see. I've tried to restart the tablet and get into CWM again without succes.
I have read diffrent threads for several hours but I can't find my problem. What should I do? :crying:
what does the android text say?
Hi dibb_nz.
It is the bootanimation from what I gather (Video; http://s1142.photobucket.com/albums/n602/JdgM3NT4L/?action=view&current=AndroidBootanimation.mp4). I am trying to help someone get a tab up that is doing the same thing as well. The weird part is that recovery is good, bootloader passed (V8), wiped data/cache/system. Tried three ICS roms so far, and every one is stuck at the bootanimation. About to go bonkers trying to figure it out. The only thing that I can think of to try next is changing CWM from Thors to TWRP or something...
To Webspirit, your problem will most likely get fixed by using blackthund3rs APX Tool. Google it and then goto the forum where it is. There's plenty of support for getting that going and you shouldn't have any problems. If you do holler. Alot of us have had to use that tool and can help. I am hopeful that yours will be as simple as downloading and installing recovery back and flashing a nice rom.
Yeah i agree with the guy above me, your going to have to flash something from apx

hi J...ok thats cool re boot anim...i asked becoz like u i been trying to help a couple of others who can't use any of the flash tools or roll back to HC...i only just got myself fixed after being stuck in apx, no recovery, and boot screen saying in red text "reboot device" thought he may have had similar issue....
J...have u used nvflash or apxflash to roll back - theres a few folks getting stuck with it...its loading the HC apx driver which aint working with the ics bl so then yr tab gets stuck in apx!!!
I started a new thread hoping someone can help us all out be great to hear yr thoughts on this....its driving me up the wall
sorry didnt mean to hijack the thread

***WARNING potential brick with OTA 3.5***

If you are on OTA 3 and plan to go to OTA 3.5, make sure your recovery works first!
I attempted to install the old CWM (that didn't work with OTA3) back when I got OTA3 and had forgotten. Since it doesn't work I am stuck with my tablet bootlooping with the "Booting recovery kernel image" message. It just keeps trying to boot into recovery, thanks a lot Lenovo.
Hopefully I can fix this because I think my tablet just went out of warranty, so I can't even try to spin that. (If you know a way to force normal booting, please let me know.)
Also I should note that I have a US tablet. Which is apparently the only region with a locked bootloader. If I could get into nvflash fixing this would be a piece of cake. Now I have to stress out until I can get it fixed because I use it for taking notes in most of my classes.
Exactly same problem here. Will try to flash an update to see if it correct the problem
Hope that CWM recovery 5 works, otherwise will try to install CWMRecovery v6 (again, hope that adb works !)
Yeah, its not getting past the initial bootloader at all, so no Android, which means no ADB. Unless someone knows of a lesser-known button combo for booting into normal mode, I can't think of a way to fix this.
argh, just try to flash OTA 3 (wich should overwrite recovery) but same result ! always reboot on CWM 5.5.0.4
And adb don't seems to be recognize, so not possible to install another CWM recovery
I'm stuck !
Yeah ! solved my problem thanks to koshu (see here)
But I can do this because I had a recovery, so I don't think it will solve your problem David, try to ask Koshu, maybe he can find another way...
I shall ask him! Thanks!
