No unlocking whatsoever in the HTC stock ROM.
Is there anyway to unlock the device to work on another carrier without an unlock code? I'd like to do it myself if I can.
Thanks in advance.
T-mobile reps are super nice. Just tell them you're going overseas and they'll happily give you the code.

Look in the G2 android development section for the simunlock, supercid, and S-OFF guide. Might not be what you're looking for if you do not want to root.
Yes. I'd check the wiki instructions linked on that page. If you haven't permarooted yet, running gfree will also give you that as an added bonus.

And then cross your fingers that the code doesn't BRICK it...
gfree for sure is the way to go.
Yes, the HACK is SAFER than the official code!!!!
The hack can even REPAIR the damage done by the official code.
This has got to REALLY make htc feel foolish
Just an FYI...you should get an unlock code now for your phone before ATT takes over....ATT sometimes is a pain in the a$$ just to get a code...
You know, T-Mobile would have to unlock the phone before we awitch to AT&T. So we'll all have an unlocked phone by the time they merge, IF they merge.

Isn't the unlock code in the phone itself?

Could be wrong, but I think they "fixed" this in one of the OTA updates?
No, it never got fixed. An app on the market called SGS unlock, that basically does the unlock code for you.
You can unlock your phone with this simple aplication called SGS Unlock
If you have Eclair use this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=554631&stc=1&d=1301355001
If you have FroYo use this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=554632&stc=1&d=1301355001
Good luck

Well if you know how to use odin then downgrade to stock 2.1 then unlock your phone and then your phone is unlocked then flash whatever rom you want.

Locked to which carrier?
has anyone had any luck yet on acquiring MSL code on the new sprint galaxy s4 triband. I've tried adb shell getprop ril.MSL method and tried using cdma tools anyone know if a method that works?
You'll likely have to try this:
Hello Sprint, please give me my MSL.
As of now I believe that is the only thing that will work.
thanks,

I'm aware that that is the best method however not the easiest sprint can be a pain when it comes to getting .MSL code. Ill give them a call and see. thanks.

Successes?
This Utility works fine on the SPH-L720T, I believed I used when I was rooted.

Apparently they have "criteria" now for giving out the MSL and the couple of reps I spoke with stated they won't... effin' sprint..anyway, hope he gets lucky and gets it.. if not...
there is a SPCutility.apk floating around that I used (s4- 720, not T though) that might work too..I"m not sure if the apk posted above is the same one or not, but might have a second option if it isn't..
here's the links to it..

Which utility?
Thank Cnexus, and thank my persistence
Days later on the "What is my MSL trail..." Empty handed until now.
http://tools.flashingtools.com/SPCUtility.apk
.apk requires internet access.
Tested on a 720T, rooted, 4.3 stock ROM, MK5. IOW, the aforementioned .apk is golden my in my tiny spot in this universe.

Thank you.

I just called sprint yesterday and told them I wanted the msl code to make sure all prl settings were correct because I was getting really bad signal. They confirmed my meid number and gave me the msl code without any hassle. I would give that a go.
Edit: right now I'm rocking a Verizon prl and getting far better signal at my house

Anyone have any luck in finding a way to change the MSL on the L720T? I'm on NG5 modem. Knox is such a pain to deal with.
