T-Mobile G2 Unlocking - G2 and Desire Z General

Is there anyway to unlock the device to work on another carrier without an unlock code? I'd like to do it myself if I can.
Thanks in advance.

T-mobile reps are super nice. Just tell them you're going overseas and they'll happily give you the code.

Look in the G2 android development section for the simunlock, supercid, and S-OFF guide. Might not be what you're looking for if you do not want to root.

Yes. I'd check the wiki instructions linked on that page. If you haven't permarooted yet, running gfree will also give you that as an added bonus.

And then cross your fingers that the code doesn't BRICK it...
gfree for sure is the way to go.
Yes, the HACK is SAFER than the official code!!!!
The hack can even REPAIR the damage done by the official code.
This has got to REALLY make htc feel foolish

Since your in the vibrant section, I'm going to assume your on t mobile. tmo will give you the codes for free. Also there is an app in the market for sgs unlocking, also free. There are also numerous threads here an how to do it manually, but I'm going to assume that you can't find them because if you had googled how to unlock sgs vibrant you would already know all that I said above.
Beware of angry gingerbread man
I made some research and its call sgs unlocker, but it doesnt do anything, I will keep looking on the forum for more answers, but if you could help me a bit more will be fine , by the way thx for the fast response
Call or chat T-Mobile support and tell them you are traveling out of the country and want an unlock code. They will e-mail it to you.

Have you tried the Galaxy_S unlock by helroz on the market? Works great for me but remember to backup your EFS so you don't lose your IEME number.
The other one is Samsung Unlock Tool and it doesn't work for me.

[Q] Best way to SIM unlock my SGH-1337 MF3 Phone?

I want to know what the best method is for unlocking my Galaxy S4 SGH-1337 MF3 build Currently running on the airvoice network. I do NOT have an AT&T account but should I still give them a call and ask for an unlock code? or use an unlocking service? also from my understanding there is no sim unlock method for the MF3 build currently.
Thanks in advance!

If you pay full price, give them a call and they might give you the code.

First, unlocking the sim card is not related to the version of your phone.
So if you bought it from At&t with full price, some of them they will tell you to wait 90 days before asking for the unlocking code.
If you bought it from someone, ask the previous owner to call them and to ask for the unlocking code. Otherwise, use google, and try your luck.

I'm talking for other carriers. and I tried the *#0011# method and the other one witht the long string of numbers I cant remember but it never goes to the menu to let me choose [1]UMTS.
free unlock method has been known to screw people's phones up. There are several warnings throughout that thread the mention it.
Just go with the options that I mentioned, or use google, such as "Auction website" they do some kind of these service I guess.
Actually, on the AT&T MDL and MDB firmwares you were able to sim unlock it through service menu:

http://gs4.wonderhowto.com/how-to/c...y-s4-so-you-can-use-another-sim-card-0148110/
MF3 blocked this, so the only way you can get your phone sim unlocked with the update is using ebay or cellunlocker but at a price.

Yeah that's what I thought the case was. Oh well, back to trying to trade my At&t S4 for the Verizon version. Swappa is such a drag.

Is my M8 worthless?

Hello all,
I have a Verizon branded M8 AND have recently switched to TMob. The M8 is running 4.4.4 and is unfortunately still S-on and locked. Am I just stuck with a useless $600 phone until the Sunshine several developers come up with a way? Is that the only outfit with the capability of rooting this phone right now? Thanks in advance to anyone with any info.

Did you try calling verizon to get the unlock code?
If you have been with them for long, they will probably give it to you for free or maybe charge a fee but well you can use your phone then.
If they are unwilling to give you the unlock code then just say that you are gifting it to someone special or donating it. Just come up with a good humane reason and surely they will help.
They will also show you the procedure to unlock it.
Also as far as my knowledge goes, it is not possible to remove your phone carrier's lock using custom firmware.
Ravi.

I did try calling Verizon but i am trying to unlock the bootloader not the Sim. ... does that change your answer or should i try again?
See the htc forums on xda too.
Sim lock cannot be removed by flashing or installing custom firmwares. There is a separate procedure to unlock htc phones and their bootloaders.
I am familiar with htc sensation unlocking but don't know if it is the same for M8.
Will update you when I reach a full fledged computer with the relevant links.
You can also search the xda forums.

I am quite familiar with the htc bootloader and the unlock process. The process includes going to the htc Dev site and getting an unlock token that you then flash to the device using fastboot command. The problem is that verizon seems to be the only carrier who has somehow not allowed this. When you put your a string in on the dev site it comes back with a message saying "your carrier doesnt support" somethin like that neway.... i am wondering though if there is a way to do something at a more physical hardware layer. I mean it is jus a qualcomm chip at the end of the day... if i were to crack it open physically would i be able to access a non populated jumper that would completely erase the eeprom??

It could help. Just searched xda for you. It does not require you to get unlock token from Htc.
Disclaimer: I have not tried any of the above. You do it at your own risk.

Is this the Sprint LG V20 root process?

I'm just wondering because I see a big bounty for it on here, and no links to it, but a quick google search popped this up and I'm reluctant to try it until it's been confirmed..
Thanks..

Looks like they are just prepared for when we can unlock the Sprint bootloader. The link they have there takes you to the TMobile directions to unlock bootloader, which unfortunately doesn't work.

This link is premature clickbait.
The only devices with unlockable bootloaders are TMo and US996. All others are presently unrooted, although the community such as it is, is working on it.
