Uhmm, you are in the wrong section of the forum. There is a link in my signature. Follow it and you will get what you are looking for. There is also another link for coffee if you would like to buy me some after you are happy with your unlocked device

Is there anyway to unlock the device to work on another carrier without an unlock code? I'd like to do it myself if I can.
Thanks in advance.
T-mobile reps are super nice. Just tell them you're going overseas and they'll happily give you the code.

Look in the G2 android development section for the simunlock, supercid, and S-OFF guide. Might not be what you're looking for if you do not want to root.
Yes. I'd check the wiki instructions linked on that page. If you haven't permarooted yet, running gfree will also give you that as an added bonus.

And then cross your fingers that the code doesn't BRICK it...
gfree for sure is the way to go.
Yes, the HACK is SAFER than the official code!!!!
The hack can even REPAIR the damage done by the official code.
This has got to REALLY make htc feel foolish

Can't tell by your signature where you are located but if you are in America, you can contact T-Mobile online, give them the IMEI number to your phone, then they will send you in a couple of days, the instructions and unlock code for your phone.

Get unlock code from provider or buy one online.
Sent from my HD2
Easy!
No need any unlock code! just hack your HSPL, and flash a new radio, your phone will automatically unlock!
Android is not native to HD2 so I'm sure it is ALREADY unlocked

You're both incorrect here, unlocking usually refers to a sim unlock, therefore flashing a new ROM will have no effect on unlocking the phone. As the people above you said, you have to buy an unlock code, input the new sim then enter the unlock code (or something along those lines, haven't done it before).
Also, why bother reopening an old, solved thread simply to post an answer to a question which has already been answered? If you're trying to get 10 posts, do it on the newer threads, not the ones from early 2011.
So, I was told it was unlocked but I had no way to confirm.... I had dealt with this guy before, so I was not too worried about it. I put in my telus sim and it says pin unlock code....
So, can I unlock/root/rom it... if I do not know what carrier it is locked to? Is there a way to find out?
Any links or suggestions appreciated. specific links appreciated.
I found an unlock code for $7, good enough
thx
That is what I paid on ebay
Sent from my GT-P7500 using xda app-developers app for my p7500r unlock code .... worked great

Don't matter who it used to be locked to, get an online retailer to supply an unlock code (you need the imea), boom your done.
Unlocking / root is different. Basically unlocking refers to unlocking the bootloader of the ROM (nothing to do with the sim card), and rooting allows you root access to the file system, kinda like being an admin on a windows computer, you have the ability to edit / replace (an possibly F*** up) system files. There are plenty of great write ups that explain this stuf waaaaaay further but that is the gist of it.

I'm sure the free tool on the play store is able to unlock the tab providing you're rooted, someone put a post up on xda about it, just have a search for it.
Swyped from my finger to your face, on my Samsung Galaxy Note.
Yes I'm a noob and no I don't want you to hate me  I've been searching but can't quit find what I want. Can someone point out a link the safest way to unlock my boot loader on 141. I've seen threads but they really don't say for 100% they work on 141.
Thanks!
Do you have the at&t version? If so there is a video somewhere around here that i used where you can see a tutorial of an asian guy.
It says it is for the previous fw version but it also works for the .141 and thats how i unlocked mine

Hello all,
I have a Verizon branded M8 AND have recently switched to TMob. The M8 is running 4.4.4 and is unfortunately still S-on and locked. Am I just stuck with a useless $600 phone until the Sunshine several developers come up with a way? Is that the only outfit with the capability of rooting this phone right now? Thanks in advance to anyone with any info.

Did you try calling verizon to get the unlock code?
If you have been with them for long, they will probably give it to you for free or maybe charge a fee but well you can use your phone then.
If they are unwilling to give you the unlock code then just say that you are gifting it to someone special or donating it. Just come up with a good humane reason and surely they will help.
They will also show you the procedure to unlock it.
Also as far as my knowledge goes, it is not possible to remove your phone carrier's lock using custom firmware.

I did try calling Verizon but i am trying to unlock the bootloader not the Sim. ... does that change your answer or should i try again?
See the htc forums on xda too.
Sim lock cannot be removed by flashing or installing custom firmwares. There is a separate procedure to unlock htc phones and their bootloaders.
I am familiar with htc sensation unlocking but don't know if it is the same for M8.
Will update you when I reach a full fledged computer with the relevant links.
You can also search the xda forums.

I am quite familiar with the htc bootloader and the unlock process. The process includes going to the htc Dev site and getting an unlock token that you then flash to the device using fastboot command. The problem is that verizon seems to be the only carrier who has somehow not allowed this. When you put your a string in on the dev site it comes back with a message saying "your carrier doesnt support" somethin like that neway.... i am wondering though if there is a way to do something at a more physical hardware layer. I mean it is jus a qualcomm chip at the end of the day... if i were to crack it open physically would i be able to access a non populated jumper that would completely erase the eeprom??

It could help. Just searched xda for you. It does not require you to get unlock token from Htc.
