Just an FYI...you should get an unlock code now for your phone before ATT takes over....ATT sometimes is a pain in the a$$ just to get a code...
You know, T-Mobile would have to unlock the phone before we awitch to AT&T. So we'll all have an unlocked phone by the time they merge, IF they merge.

Could be wrong, but I think they "fixed" this in one of the OTA updates?
No, it never got fixed. An app on the market called SGS unlock, that basically does the unlock code for you.
You can unlock your phone with this simple aplication called SGS Unlock
If you have Eclair use this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=554631&stc=1&d=1301355001
If you have FroYo use this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=554632&stc=1&d=1301355001
Good luck
why is my unlock code from Tmobile does not work? can anyone explained? My phone is rooted, 2.2 updates using odin manually. Thanks.

Well if you know how to use odin then downgrade to stock 2.1 then unlock your phone and then your phone is unlocked then flash whatever rom you want.

June 2011 RE-EDIT... Use the instructions here or here to unlock.
EDIT: SIM-Lock on JI6 has been solved for me with helroz's repair_nv_data.zip, read further along...
Page 11, Post 103 has a good copy of the instructions (but read the whole thread)
Also, heres a link to the corresponding thread in the Captivate forums
Can someone who has had Tmobile US for at least 40 days put a request in for an unlock code for my Vibrant? I only have ATT and no friends with Tmo. The Tmobile unlock team already refused my request. You would just need to call Customer Service, ask for the unlock team. I tried all the solutions in the forums - I have a messed up nv_data (bought it on craigslist). Shoot me a PM if your willing to help. Thanks in advance.
how many days since you have your vibrant?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I bought it 2 days ago from a guy on craigslist
There is an apk you can get called sgs unlock and it will give you the unlock code
the sgs unlocker doesn't work if the vibrant's had the JI6 update flashed or any other custom ROMs in it.
I'm also trying to unlock my JI6 updated vibrant. I was a dumbass and didn't unlock it when it was on JFD.
I paid cellunlocker.net for a code, but apparently it takes up to 3 days to get the code.
Yup,it had ji6 when I got it, and tmo won't give me the code cause I'm not their customer
And abaybas, please let me know if the code you get works
In this case, would you be able to unlock it if you flash your phone with JFD stock ROM then flash it back to JI6?
Nope. I odin'd back to stock. Ive tried the fixes. I just need someone to contact tmo for me
Ill do it. Whats the imei on the phone? it can take up to 72hrs but most times when I call its less.
No need! Just got it unlocked with a file that helroz sent me
Repeat: You can unlock a JI6 flashed phone using a file that changes the SIM unlock code (I was running bionix fusion when i did it)
Someone please work with him to turn it into an app if thats possible... its just a couple bat files and a jar that edit the files i believe
Thanks so much french dude (helroz)
wow can't believe you can do that in JI6 update, cuz i know about one unlock method that erases your phone's IMEI number and unlocks it permanently but thats questionable to be.
he sent me a repair_nv_data.zip and it fixed my nv_data and maintained the imei thats listed under my battery

I am actually in the same situation. I cant get mine unlocked using the app because it doesnt give me an unlock code and just says 'are you sure this is a galaxy s phone?'. I also tried paying for a code and the code did not work, the guy who did it also retried a second time and the code was the same, so I dont know whats up with that. My IMEI is the same as whats on my original box. I tried hacking the nv_data.bin myself using the guide posted somewhere in the i9000 thread. If someone could send me that fix I would be very grateful.

why don't you try calling t-mobile and get your code?
the sgs unlocker won't work to me too. my only chance left is the code from t-mobile.

Yes, I got it, I installed b572 and it is unlocked, I made this since months, I can call and this and the phone is asking me the pin but is working, but when I upgrade to official ICS it is locked again and when I put my PIN it doesn´t connect, how can I fix that and to be all time unlocked?
It will only be unlocked while you are using b572. You can flash a custom rom over it and it is still going to be unclocked. But when you flash an update, when you change that b572 to another, it will lock again

When i pop in my t-mobile sim card, the phone does not recognize it or prompt me for a network code or anything ? anyone know of someone or a service to sim unlock the sprint variant ? Thank you
Bump
I'm also trying to figure this out, as I am not able to even connect to T-Mobiles server to trigger the unlock. All that my unlock app does is just sit there with a spinning wheel and say " connecting to server, please wait " , so if I cannot get passed that than I'm screwed cause it's gotta at least prompt me if I want to unlock permanently or temporary. Darn thing just keeps spinning like I'm blocked from even connecting. Can someone who is rooted check to see if their phone will prompt for an unlock or not? Thanks in advance!

If the T-Mobile unlock app is on the Sprint version (Which I doubt) use this site https://www.unlockbase.com/phone-unlocking-service/tmobile-device-unlock-app-official-unlock/ otherwise you might contact them and find out if they can sim unlock it another way. Or sideload the T-Mobile Unlock app and see if it works that way (I doubt this would work but you never know til you try)

If you are rooted, it can detect it and it will stay on the spinning wheel. Only way I got it to work was to restore to stock no root and it worked (It kept giving me a unlock not available until I bought the unlock service from https://www.unlockbase.com/phone-unlocking-service/tmobile-device-unlock-app-official-unlock/ )

is the phone paid off in full? no more monthly obligation? if not that's the reason you can't unlock. it's because you don't own the phone sprint does. NO ONE can get a device unlocked from distributor without full payment fulfillment.

depends if u need your MSL
to root you 1st need to unlock the bootloader via htcdev.com
after unlocking bootloader, you need to flash TWRP from download mode
boot into TWRP to flash either Magisk (my preference) or SuperSU

HTC Bolt SIM-Unlock
I followed the steps from the instructions and was able to SIM-Unlock the phone.
Also, performed UICC unlock in Software Updates after I paid off the phone.
I tested it with a friend's T-Mobile SIM and worked flawlessly.
Also tested with another friend's AT&T SIM and again worked flawlessly.
I have since switched to Verizon and found out that it will not work on Verizon, so I decided to sell it.
Sold it on eBay and now the guy who purchased it says he is getting the following error :
"GSM/UMTS Mode not supported in the U.S. Only foreign SIM card usable in device. Your device will switch to CDMA mode now."
When I google this error, everything I find is for older HTC devices, and these posts are back from 2011.
Has anyone come across this, or do you think this guy is trying to pull a fast one on me?
Again, I know for a fact it is unlocked and will work on AT&T but he says it is still SIM-Locked, and says the MSL code I gave him is incorrect.
Pretty sure a phone cannot re-lock itself.. am I wrong?
I havent been able to unlock my phone phone i bought it off ebay and i cant seem to unlock it. i bought the unlock code from two different unlock servers and they both appeared with the same code but it doesnt work i was wondering if anyone has had this same problem and was able to fix it. i would apreciate the help thanks in advance.

Something happened with OS in your phone. Maybe it was rooted, or maybe some error in the system. Any how. Just flash your phone with stock rom. The original firmware that it had, and the code should work. Also try factory reset first. That may work as well.
Good luck.
