Hi all. I'm going to buy this phone after having the HTC One for a while. One thing I enjoyed about Sense is having the ability to sync and combine contacts. For example, you can add a facebook profile and a whatsapp contact to a phone contact and all there info would be under one page on their contact page. Is this something I can do with the LG G2? I briefly had the Nexus 4 and I had to get rid of it because there was no native contact sync. Thanks.
I *think* so. I don't use facebook on my phone but I do have some whatsapp contacts and their info shows up under their contact listing. But then again, for whatsapp the only info is the phone number which is the same as their mobile number. I thought this was common - never realized Nexus 4 couldn't do it. Are you sure there wasn't a setting? Anyway, moot point I guess. I will say that I *love* this phone so far - probably have been happier with this than any other, and battery life has been tremendous for me

I searched but did not see anything.
Just wondering what exactly the T-mobile account sync is for?
I know it is definitely for contacts but what else?
It added a lot of crap to my phone and i want to remove it but unfortunately i have to do a factory reset and im not interested in doing that right now.
I swear i love this phone, but i don't understand why they included all this crap with the phone.
I get that it is a customized version of Espresso but omg is some of this crap useless.
answer: mostly contacts, partially for the other bloatware crap they got in our phones
I find it so ridiculous that their is 3 different contact storage places tmobile, google(standard for android and shoulda been left this way) and the sim. What in the world is tmobile or htc thinking?? what is the point of this??
I agree man, i drove me crazy having the T-Mobile sync account! What it is for is your Mobile Backup (auto built into this phone unlike the last one). I have all my contacts on Google and link them to the people's Facebook, and that's what I like!
However, I noticed how obnoxious it was to have duplicate numbers for people who have a Google contact & a mobile backup contact. Also if you use the "Faves" function, it will auto create a t-mobile-based contact to sync with the website. So when you log in, you will click on "Faves" and see all of them there, in addition to Mobile backup.
I got pissed off, deleted everyone off mobile backup period, and backwards synced to my phone so there are NO mobile backup contacts. I said screw the "Faves" feature too because of how annoying it was. I really don't feel like I'm missing out seeing as Faves is just an upgrade to the myFaves UI for Android phones
It was a nice feature on BlackBerry as a backup of your contacts. It looks like it only syncs "faves" contacts now.
Well I added my Exchange account and Faceook so I have 5 kinds of contacts. If you press the button next to the Home when in contacts you can select "view" and tell the phone which contacts you want to have show up when veing contact by placing a check next to them. I have T-Mobile, Google, Sym Card, Exchange Active Sync, and Facebook options.
Is it possible to enable quick contact on the droidx, it's a featured i'd really like to have but it doesn't look possible because the dialer and all the contact programs seem to have motorolla's hands in it.
to see what i'm referring:
http://webcache.googleusercontent.c...+quick+contact+links&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us
Also something I noticed is that contacts being paired with facebook seems to break the user images for just about every program except for the moto ones.
I use google voice a lot and it be nice to see all my contacts pictures with my text messages, a lot of people complained about this issue but i don't think it's google's fault because i just loaded up the launcher pro plus and it's scrollable contact list also has the same issue with pictures.
The only fix I can find is just to sign out of facebook and twitter in the account settings. But it would be nice to get that feature of seeing their latest updates while i'm browsing contacts, and i love seeing their newest status when they call.
So is there a way to install the quick contact feature?
and is there a work around for the contact pictures or am I just going to have to make a choice.
Thanks for the help guys, this is my first android device and Im loving it!
This really bothers me. I can't select my default picture or name like I used to be able to. This is something Motorola, and Android itself REALLY need to incorporate into the system. And I agree, quick contact should be standard in every iteration of Android.
Hi,
There is one thing that driving me nuts. Lets say I have a friend, whose names is John. In google, I have saved his email ID with name j.smith .. .. then his another email ID with johns .. .. and then finally his cell number with name john ..
After, I linked up all accounts in my HTC Desire People. I can see these three accounts in one single contact. Fare enough and perfect. But is there anyway, I can merge these three accounts into 1 so that it is synced to my Google Account and to my HTC Contacts?
Not sure if I understand correctly what you want to do but its something I've struggled with as well. There was a perfect app for this on iPhone/iOS but I have yet to find anything that comes even close on Android. Try Contacts Analyzer available on Market but it's dismal. Doesn't allow you a preview of the changes you're about to make before you commit them!
Didn't help that .. :s
Gmail Contacts
Your best bet is to just do it in Gmail from your computer, then let the phone sync. It's easy and you will have them all in the same format, and you can add pictures for caller ID, etc.
You're in trouble if you have 1,000 contacts like I used to...the idea I think is to use an app that auto-works and gets the job done as a batch without you having to edit every single contact...then you can sync to Facebook and pull in some photos IDs...
Hi,
Anybody knows of an app that merges / joins contacts?
HTC Sense has this function if you know what I mean, sometimes a chain-link icons shows up in the notification area.
I´d like to have an app that does this on a batch basis so that I can chose to do so for all my contacts instead of merging / joining one by one.
I know I can do this one by one. Go contacts Ex gives this function without doing it for everyone at one batch job. You have to acceppt one by one...
I am using , Google, ActiveSync, Facebook, Whatsapp etc. contacts
Ideas?

This. Plus there is an option on Gmail to merge duplicates so you can at least have google do most of the sorting and merging for you. And if possible, don't let any HTC app mess with my Google contacts.

I think that's the most important idea about merging. My opinion's that any given app could mess things up and leave you with a lot of different linked contacts. Personally I prefer to edit all my contacts at my Gmail account so that I don't have to merge them again everytime I flash another rom for example.
If you're willing to take the time and patience for it it'll pay off to manually manage your contacts at Gmail.

+1
I've been searching that function for long time since I moved from the stock sense rom to others, and still no app is giving me this. I even tried a lot of different contact manager but no one works really well.
About G contacts: I really care to keep the list "clean" and every contact linked with whatsapp, email, facebook etc, but sometimes it just lose the info, even if I've just merged that contact with the app I'm currently using (I'm running MildWild) and rsynced the G account.
Try Go Contacts Ex (free), it has various functions on merging contacts (by number, email etc.)
Thanks, this works nearly perfect.
Mine im using contapps free from market, try it if you want too! ̄ω ̄
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda premium
yeah try go contact ex it work for me
I think you should sync with gmail.
I feel this feature was dropped a while ago from vanilla google but I've had Galaxy Ss and Notes for so long I am not exactly sure. Is there a way to get FB contacts to link with contacts in my phone? I mostly want it just to have pictures of people in my contacts rather than going out and finding a photo of each one...
This is no longer possible for the most part. Google stopped offering it natively a long time ago. Facebook changed their APIs this summer to break it further. There are some services like Sync.Me that still claim to be able to do it, but your contacts have to have very few security settings turned on in order for it to work right. I have an overlap of about 60 friends how are in my phone and in my friend list and only 12 of them can sync properly. I think we're finally out of luck without doing it manually. :-/
Yeah, Sync.Me seems to be the best now. I'm not getting all my contacts, but most.
Hi all,
Bought a unlocked G6 about a month ago after owning a G3. So far I am really happy with it, however it bugs me that the "Me" contact does not pull the information from Google - i.e. the Duo app is not shown there, the address (work or home) from Google isn't there neither. Is there a way to link the information?
Thanks for your time and looking forward to your replies.
Wasn't this suppose to be automatic?
Well, that would have been my thought but it doesn't work on my phone for some reason.
This is still bugging me massively, am I the only one in this situation?
I've just checked on my G6 and it doesn't show any info for me at all.
Update: I've just added my home address using the edit function and now my info does show.
Indeed if you edit the contact info it will show.
My point is that the contact should be pulling info from your or mine Google account information and it doesn't.
Well for me contact syncing doesn't work at all on stock(/fulmics) rom.
I've re-added some colleagues a couple of times only to lose them again on full wipes.
Everything working as it should now on LineageOS.

Starting with Android 5.0, multiple user accounts are allowed to be set up on an Android phone. Maybe your gmail info is deliberately not linked to the phone's own number to prevent "other" users of the phone (who may have different gmail addresses) from using those info?

This is possible, I have three gmail account for myself on the phone. However, technically it would be really easy for them to make you select which account you would like to be your main one.
Anyway, thanks.
