i need more storage space so i plan on deleting some stuff and i saw the gallery thumbnails and it is pretty big, can i delete this? i mean is it safe to do so? what will happen if i do?
Yes its safe to delete. The thumbnails are cached images of all your pictures that you see in the gallery. When you delete them, the gallery will have to rebuild them.

You will most likey encounter the "No media storage available" message when opening gallery or camera app. Thats a bug the nexus has, not on my gs3

You could try the app "SD Maid", even we don't have a "real" sdcard and maybe you have no root. It cleans unneeded stuff off your sdcard and it's working great for me

UGH my photos that I take with the camera are disappearing! I'm not sure how to replicate it but it might be either when I mount the usb or restart the phone.
Is this a known issue? Is anyone else having this problem? This almost renders the camera useless

also, this isn't just a gallery issue because when I check the DCIM folder with Astro file manager the photos are still missing

I had this problem too. Lost all my family videos and some pics, its very anoying bug... there is thread on google android somewhere, I posted here somewhere in this forum and the same content there. I think that maybe some instalation, but is just my opinion, embased in nothing.
I had several pictures I took disappear a few weeks ago. This was (obviously) while still on 2.3.2. No idea what the cause was, but I agree, they're not anywhere on the sdcard to be found. Very scary.
To be fair, I don't recall which of the three camera apps I use (stock, camera360, vignette) I took them with. I think it was vignette (and yes, I checked its folder). Are you using the stock camera or a 3rd party one?
For the time being, important pictures are being immediately uploaded/shared to my Picasa account.

Google released a beta of Chrome for 4.0 devices. It looks pretty awesome so far. Supports sync with desktop chrome and the UI is beautiful.
I like the Tab UI, very smooth too!
It is awesome.
Chrome for Android! Just installed it, it's really nice.
I like it as well. I have used Chrome Desktop for years, so I the integration is really handy. The biggest thing that is keeping me from removing Dolphin HD is flash support. Will have to keep it around for those legacy sites that refuse to switch to HTML5.
Is there a way to clear out the browsing history on exit like Mini Dolphin & Dolphin have? This is one of the reason I am not using this on a regular basis..
downloaded the first time, constant force closes. redownloaded, good to go.
What makes this better than dolphin browser? Just curious

Your /datadata partition is probably getting filled up, try moving chrome to the SD card and see if that works.

Lol, yes, I started getting "You are getting low on space" but my "Storage" said I was only using about 600MB of over 1GB [internal, /data/ partition].
So, can you please tell me... why is /datadata/ only 100-something MB? Can I increase it?
Does moving an app, move it's data to the sdcard too? [into .android_secure/*.asec, right?]

/datadata is only 158 MB because of hardware limitations, but it's much faster memory. You can increase it by symlinking it to /data/data, but your phone is going to get slow. THS has a fix for this, it will make its way to the other ICS ROMs soon.
I figure I should also say the fix isn't 100%, but as long as you don't have multiple apps taking up huge amounts of data it should work pretty good. (Having two browsers installed both taking up 40MB of data would be considered "huge amounts of data")

Ohh, so /datadata isn't just another partition, it's a separate faster flash storage?
And I guess that means, moving apps to SD makes them go faster, eh?
What is the difference between app2sd, and ICS's "move to SD card" feature?

I believe that's true, although I'm kind of just learning all of this so I'm not positive.
I'm not sure if it's faster, test it and let me know though.
And those are both the same thing I thought...they just move the app data that's stored in /datadata to the SD...I'm not 100% on that.

That's because not all apps have Move to SD support, this is where the 3rd party apps like Titanium Backup and Apps2SD probably come in handy. I know I can move any app I want to the SD with Titanium Backup Pro, I've never tried Apps2SD though.

Like I said I've only ever used Titanium Backup Pro, so I couldn't tell you if Apps2SD works.
The warning only shows up when you have 15MB or less of free space, chrome beta takes up roughly 40MB of space.
Is there an app for this already out somewhere? i've searched for days and didnt found any.
It should work as following:
Upload Pictures to Dropbox/GDrive/Picasa whatever.. and delete the original images on the phone and only keep small (screen sized) versions of the pictures on the phone, to save space.
also mentioned here: https://www.dropbox.com/votebox/114...keep-a-small-screen-sized-image-on-the-phone-
//EDIT:
Combined it would be perfect, but if anyone knows an app i could manually run after every upload it would be fine for the beginning
(App has to do the following: Simply 1click convert all images on the phone or in the specified folder larger than x*x pixels or MB into smaller versions and then delete the originals (as they are already saved in my dropbox account and there is no need to also keep then on the phone!)

His point is that screen size picture (1280*768 or 1184*768) take less storage space than 8MP pictures (3264*2448).
That's a genuine idea given the context.
Basically, any app capable of batch resizing pictures would do, but it's manual.
Integration of such functionality in Cloud Apps would be great.

I'm not exactly sure what you wana hear, but here's the idea again:
Dropbox upload all my pictures to my dropbox account while loading the phone and connected to wifi.
But it also leaves the exact same files on my phone. So I have every file/image TWICE.
I could just delete the photos on the phone storage after each upload. but then i would have to look it up every single time in my dropbox.
=> There should be an option to replace the picture on the phone with a much smaller one (which is of good enough quality to view it on the phone and send it with whatsapp to friends, but take much less space)
There is the Instant Upload feature in Google+. Have a look at that. I think that should fit your needs and its automatic.

As far as i know it only uploads all my pictures to my google account and that's it!
This is the same, only worse, than dropbox does. Dropbox upload the original files. G+ converts them to 2048x*
but none of them shrink the size of the remaining file on the phone Correct me if i'm wrong.
ye , ill be getting 8gb version so i am interested in this too
i guess we will be left with 6.5 free gb , because of the system.
im planing on leaving 2 gigs on apps , so that leaves us with 4gb on music and pictures. is that enough?
and one more question , is the only diference beetween 8gb and 16gb version just the memory?

Yep.
I assume at least 5,5GB free space on 8GB Nexus 4 and 13 GB free on 16GB (based on my feeling and free space of nexus 7 devices)
So I am cleaning up my phone when I notice I have these two folders that are identical.
Main question is, which one is safe to delete without making my phone go crazy?

Definitely not. Leave it alone; everyone has those folders and I assure you they do not exist twice.
What makes me scratch my head is that both folders are the exact same size with the same content so I just don't understand why my phone needs double since it shows my storage at 17GB and want to free up some more space
One is a link to the other. They are not duplicated, they are one and the same files

Alright, think about it this way. Open your file explorer and check the size of either of the folders by looking at their properties. For instance, mine both show that they add up to 10GB. I've also got about 3-4GB of space being used for backups and my system partition, and even more for apps. So my guess? Probably using at least 20GB of my storage. Keep in mind that I have a 32GB phone. Now if I go to settings > storage, it shows that I have 12GB of free space, so it all adds up. If you do the math, I couldn't possibly be using 20GB total for both of those folders, so they have to just be different paths to the same location, and yours probably is, too.
My conclusion: if you delete one of those folders, nothing good can come of it. Look elsewhere and account for your system itself (I see you are using the stock firmware, which is quite large due to LG bloatware) and the apps you use. Check Settings > Storage and see what's using so much space.
Thanks for confirming everyone. I guess I need to browse my phone system with my PC to find where the real bloat is at. Yes the LG apps do take up a bit of space.

You might consider finding an AOSP ROM that fits your needs if you're looking for a bit more space. They tend to be a lot smaller than stock roms. Also, try clearing your cache.

So after some Album updates I realized it's TERRIBLY slow in updating thumbnails!!!
It actually NEVER updates all the thumbnails - once I scroll through it, I see so many black holders!
Terrible.
Anybody has a clue? Is t because the pics are on SD Card?
Or is it because I have many pics there?

I cleared this and than rebooted the phone.
Now it never loads all the thumbnails. Very annoying.
