Having trouble with my USB connection. Every time I connect to a computer it will charge, but isn't recognized by the computer. So, I can't transfer anything between phone and computer. This all started after I got the froyo 2.2 update. Any ideas? Thanks!

happens to me too i hate it! A solution is to reboot your phone.
Today there was a new KIES update and it seems that there will be a wireless connection to it... but how?
i think the touchwiz update will have the capabilities for the wireless Kies... did you get the touchwize update? where did you get this Kies update?
What software do you use on windows to connect to kies?
For the first time I was able to connect with Kies. USB connection never worked. I am able now to sync contacts and memo and calendar.

I installed Kies 2.0 on a Windows 7 machine and was able to connect via wifi after the TW update, but the version of Kies they currently have for the Mac does not work. Just for some fun, I contacted Samsung chat support and the Rep told me that Kies isn't even made for Windows! And that "kies wifi" just means you can connect via a USB cable while your on a wifi network! That's some top notch support.

WOW LOL
Just for the yet-to-be-informed, you have to have the latest Kies installed on your PC and the TouchWiz update on your Samsung tablet. Run Kies on the PC. Then go into settings/Wireless and Networks/Kies via Wi-Fi on the tablet. Pick your PC from the listed devices. Once you've connected the first time, you probably won't need to have Kies open before you initiate the connection on your tablet. Kies will leave a little behind to watch for the connection, then open up.
I have it working well, except that Kies freezes up occassionally. My PC runs Windows 7 64bit.

I tried doing that and the Tab 10.1 doesn't find my computer on the same WiFi - it just says No Devices after scanning.
I've disabled my firewall on my laptop just in case, but still no luck. Any ideas? Thx

Just keep trying. Mine didn't see the PC at first, but found it on the second try. My PC is wired on my network, with tab using WiFi from the same router. Not sure your PC can be connected to the internet via WiFi and still connect to the Tab via the same WiFi. Seems like it "should" work, but that may be one roadblock. Working fine on my system. I have a notebook PC arriving tomorrow or the next day and I'll put Keis on it to see if I have the same luck.
I feel dumb for asking this but what is kies? What does it do? Is this a samsung only thing?
its like a samsung itunes.

Yeah, though not as bloated or laggy ... but I was hoping for plex like media streaming capabilities, but sadly not supported ...
Found a way around it. All I needed to do is connect my Galaxy Tab 10.1 through the usb cable first, and then Kies would recognize it through WiFi afterwards. I guess the Laptop and Tab needed to meet each other through USB first.
kies does not see it or something, it keeps telling me to disconnect and reconnect, this is when i try to do with usb. when i press kies via wifi on tablet icon, screen gets a gray hue over it and does nothign...
I have it working with my Wifi 10.1- and I'm using Win7 in a VirtualBox window on my Ubuntu machine. The one thing that kies won't do is copy arbitrary files to my SGT. What a pain!!
There is a workaround- add the ".pdf" extension to the end of your file name (foo.apk.pdf) then you can do a single file copy to the SGT. Kies does a great job of playing gatekeeper so that you don't put anything harmful on your SGT. Heaven forbid you might root it or something.

I have the opposite problem, I can connect to it via wifi but when I connect USB kies does not recognize it.
Unfortunately Kies became useless as in the new version they dropped the ability to synchronize with Outlook!

I had this same problem. Could connect fine via USB but nothing happened when trying to connect via Wi-Fi other than the tablet's screen graying out. After doing a factory reset it's now working for me.
Finally have wifi file transfer
My MAC with lion would not connect to the 10.1 wireless or USB. Today on PC World they had an App WIFI File Explorer. Free download crippled and $1.60 Pro version. It is in the Market & Amazon.
I have the pro version and can transfer files wirelessly now. To me it was worth the $ rather than fight with Samsung.
Hi guys,
The other day my Ethernet cable plugging my desktop PC into the router broke, meaning I now have no internet access on my PC.
I was wondering if there was some way to plug my phone in via USB, and use my phones WiFi signal to access internet on the computer.
Any one know how this can be done?
Thanks.

Yes, it's straight forward enough.
Connect your phone to your WiFi network
Hook up your USB
Then go to Settings > more > tethering & portable hotspot and tick USB tethering

I tried that and it wouldn't let me enable it - could it be a problem with the ROM? Miui v5

I downloaded the onscreen phone app but I can't get it to connect via wifi. I have enabled it on the phone, and I want to connect it via the PC connected via ethernet and the phone on wifi. It won't find the phone. Any ideas? Running Windows 8 Pro...

Hello
We just changed our router from att to Comcast. All the devices at my home, my laptop, my husband laptop, his phone, my tablet all are accessing the new network settings without any problem.
My phone, Samsung note 3, however just does not connect to this network. We changed last Saturday, and until yesterday, I had to reboot my Phone to get it connected. Today even that is not working. I actually soft reset the phone, but that didn't help. Since it is Comcast, I can connect to the free xfinity spots, but the connectivity is very bad. We've checked and rechecked all the settings on the router, but since all other devices connect without a problem, I think the problem might be the phone itself.
Any help or suggestions?
The phone is 4.4.2 and rooted with stock rom.
Thank you
