[Q] 4g lte - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello
I've some questions.
First question : is there a way that i can force my phone to switch directly to 4g. In data settings i've only the choice of selecting gsm, only wcdma, wcdma/gsm , lte/wcdma/gsm. When i select the last choice it goes from edge to h to h plus and than to 4g. But it takes to long. Is there no option to directly select 4g/lte ?
Second question: i've flashed my i9505 with omega rom. Everything works fine. But i think that my radio signal is not good enough. I'm still confused what i need to do? Do i need to flash an other modem? Or do i need to flash an other kernel? And the modem is it directly an lte modem or is this also something different?

??? Nobody ???

Yes, it is to do with your modem...
May i ask what country you are in & the network? i can find out what is the latest modem available for your phone provided by your provider or you can do it yourself on Sam Mobile

Here you have the screen shot you requested. But i've an other question. When i do a speed test on 4g/lte then i have speeds of 52 Mbps down and 20 mbps up. So that's more than ok. But when i use hspd then i only get 0.5 mbps down and 0.2 mbps up. With 4bars filled on hspd+ i don't think that's a normal speed. On my galaxy s3 i got 9Mbps down and 5Mbps up. So if i'm gonna flash an other modem , is that affecting my 4g speeds to? Or are they 2 different things?

just connect the phone to KIES and update it.

Where can we download 19000T JP9?
I want to get my i9000T back to stock. It's been updated with 2.2.1 and registry hack (Europe) . I'd like to flash with ODIN to bring back to stock - to allow for updates with KIES. I plan to give the phone to a friend.
I updated my Galaxy with kies, but it's not working as it did
Hi Raulito, I'm from Argentina too, and updated the phone to the same firmware you did. Wich is your provider Claro, Personal, Movistar?.
I use Claro, but now I can't navigate using 3G, can't use the data network despite using this network is ticked in the settings menu.
The APN is the same I was using with the older eclair.
Are you experiencing something like this?
Is this the same as I9000XFJP9 ?

Why only wcmda/gsm mode?

Sorry if I offend someone with this question, because 'I could have read about it somewhere else'. I couldn't find it, soooooo
I updated my 9505 with a stock 4.3 firmware mj7 (with new bootloader I guess, because of the Knox software). Now I hear today T-Mobile is rolling out 4G over here, but the only options I see in Settings is wcdma/gsm or less. So no option for LTE. Can someone explain why? I thought maybe it's because of the modem, so I flashed the latest modem of T-Mobile (my ****ty provider) MH7. That didn't work at all (maybe logic to you ). Now my phone is losing connection all the time.
Is it the software, that gives the option to choose for LTE/WCDMA/GSM, or the modem?
So, do I have to flash latest 4.2.2 from T-Mobile or another modem?
:fingers-crossed:
I believe it's the firmware, for I recently updated to MJ7 from BTU, and the WMDCA/GSM/LTE option became available whereas it wasn't before, so I'll imagine T-Mobile will release a firmware update to enable it soon.
P. S. Questions go in Q&A

Ahaaaaaaaaa ok. Thx for the quick response by the way! Yeah I already have MJ7, but I guess it's a wrong one. But I sure can try the BTU one. If you say it has the LTE option, I guess that should work. Otherwise I have to flash back to MH7 4.2.2, because that's the latest T-Mobile over here. Or do you have another suggestion?
Thx

[Q] 4G LTE Problems after installing DBT German NB4

I used the pit file posted here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2643109) and was able to make the DBT FW work. However my LTE speeds have gone south with very low speeds.
Any idea?

Check your APN settings, it's possible they have been modified due to KK update. - Check your carriers website.

To no avail i am afraid. As far as you know- does updating to the DBT FW inhibit LTE modem in any way? coz i understand LTE bands differ between Saudi & Germany.

LTE bands are hardware not Modem, check mobile data/networks and see if you have an LTE/GSM/WCDMA option - if so make sure you have it enabled.

Indeed they are. i have the LTE option and the settings are correct however speeds are very slow.
on JB the LTE was working fine (20-40 Mbps D).
I am going to flash the XEO Rom as well to see if the SW inhibits the ability to avail full LTE capabilities in any way or not.
Thanks for your reply though.

The LTE sluggish speeds 0.42 Mbps down - are also being exhibited on the Polish FW. Even after tweaking settings an all. Are u aware of any remedy to this?

Can you point to any remedy to this?

Thanks radicalisto.
Before the upgrade to KK my speeds were in the range of 20-40Mbs. Now they are hovering over 0.4Mbps. Settings are corrects. After multiple tries no effect. So obviously there is a glitch.
I would appreciate any input from any senior XDA member who has any info about this.
Much appreciated.
I'll flash into DBT and test later on (in bed currently as I work nights) - on XEO I was getting 60meg from LTE, get the same on CM. So not sure why you are suffering a speed drop.

Please do and share your results after. The LTE speeds on my carrier ZAIN SAUDI are usually pretty good ranging from 20-40Mbps and they were on JB. But for me both on XEO & DBT FW LTE is almost 0 Despite settings and everything else in order.
Thanks again.

Issues on Lollipop Build LRX21V.N9005XXUGBOEA

Hi Everyone, I am having some annoying issues with my Lollipop since upgrading my note 3.
The build is Build LRX21V.N9005XXUGBOEA, Kernal version 3.4.0 -50200004 and base version N9005XXUUGBOD3
I have noticed the GPS is horrible. It often drops out and whilst using it, it drops out all the time and is always losing signal. I had to install a second app to help support the GPS so it works mostly no but not as well as it used too.
The wifi and 4G is a problem as well. It will often freeze and the whole phone becomes unresponsive and I have to take the battery out too reboot it.
Is there a more stable version I should be using please? I am getting tired of these ongoing issues, if I can't find a solution, I might just roll back too kitkat.
Other the GPS issue (it locks fine outside but I am still not happy that it sometimes won't lock inside) there are no problems on my phone at all. There is no 4G here, but H+ stays almost always, WiFi is absolutely rock solid too! Honestly I am really happy with this TouchWiz iteration. I was on OEA and I didn't have any issue as far as I can remember, but now I am on OF3, but as you can guess I wasn't having those issues you mentioned on OEA either, so I really don't know what to tell you mate.

Thanks for getting back to me. I was hoping someone would be able to point me in the direction of a more solid version. I am running the first one that came out, so am thinking maybe a better version has been released that has fixes in place for these issues. Sorry I am not sure what OEA is or OF3

Hi,
I am on OG4 which I downloaded from Sammobile and I flashed it through Odin (checked only F. Time Reset & Auto Reboot). Everything else works fine but my Wifi does not turn on. Bluetooth & H+ (3G) are also working fine. Can you please tell me whether I need to update modem? I was rooted previously & Knox is at 0x1. Can you share the link for flashing the modem if it's required? Or any other solution please.

I don't know how and why you guys have these problems!
Anyway, I am sure you must have fully wiped the device before upgrading right? By full wipe I mean wiping everything, TWRP - Advanced Wipe - Select all (except external SD of course) and then flash the ROM via Odin.

Odin -> stock firmware S, L and K version

Hey guys,
Due to lte connection problem, carrier customizing, etc..., I have a question:
I have K version, could I flash S version by Odin in my n935k model?
here http://tekhd.com/ at 06 July 2017 date you can find all the firmwares as below:

SM-N935L_N935LKLU3AQFE Firmware update for the Samsung Galaxy N7 FE L variant. (SM-N935L)
SM-N935S_N935SKSU3AQFE Firmware update for the Samsung Galaxy N7 FE S variant. (SM-N935S)
System Dump + Boot Image
N7FE-N935SKSU3AQFE-SYSTEM-CSC-BOOT_(ODEX)
N7FE-N935SKSU3AQFE-SYSTEM-CSC-BOOT_(DEODEX)
Thanks to @tekXodus
isn't it just the CSC you need for network stuff? Don't see why it wouldn't but back up phone first.
Google for the K variant: it's on a vietnamese site. It works too. Have installed it twice so far.

Variant K = n935k. I assume that it's best to match firmware to what you already have. I have already installed the K stock on my n935k FE. You are looking for the K variant, yes? I told you where you might find it and also that it is OK to use.

do you know for sure it's not working? for example, if you dial voicemail, do you still have the LTE icon on your phone signal? that's what i did and i also checked, Settings->About Phone->Status->Sim Card status and while i was connected to voice mail, mobile network type remained LTE.

Yeah it doesn't work. Well this is how I have been checking. While on a phone call I try to view a webpage and it won't load or I try to run a speed test and it won't run. While on a call it shows LTE+ in the status bar but just no data passing through.
While on a call, I checked Settings->About Phone->Status->Sim Card status and it says LTE but like mentioned just can't access anything data related.
Sorry I maybe mixing up VoLTE and using data (specifically LTE data and not WiFi) while on a phone call. After doing some research these are two different things.
My issue is using data while on a call.
