Walked into the Sprint store last Friday.
Bought the Galaxy Gear and they gave me a Note 3 for free.
Nonsense

I swear to god.
Proof... They had to ring up the Jawbone because the Gear wasn't in the POS yet.

I call shenanigans !
Hogwash, I say!!!
Yes, I sat on my laptop this morning, researched product numbers for items, and proceeded to photoshop an electronic receipt just so that I can reap the acceptance of everyone on XDA.
It was a serious question. I wasn't sure if this was an actual promotion or if I just got extreeeeeemly lucky.
Colossal screwup perhaps? Seems odd they would discount the more expensive of the two. I could almost see it being the other way though... buy a Note 3 outright and get a free gear.
Let us know if you get contacted about it. If this is actually true, there are going to be a LOT of PO'd people I would gather.
EDIT: Apparently I hit save twice.

So far I haven't been.
What's weird is that the day I got the phone, they didnt have the Gear in stock yet so the saleswoman told me they'd ship it to my house (that was friday). Monday came along and I was curious about a tracking number so I called Sprint. Sprint had no idea what I was talking about. Called the store back and the saleswoman who sold me the phone said they were shipping it straight from the store.
This wasn't a third party Sprint store either, it was a corporate one.
I'm going to go with the theory that she wanted me and gave me a freebie. Regardless, I don't get the hate for this watch. I think its pretty damned sweet.

Whatever her reasoning was, you definitely got the better end of that deal! Have you tried out the Gear yet? I'm fighting the urge to grab one...but the desire to walk around and talk to my wrist like James T.Kirk may prove to be too much for me to resist,

I don't get all the negativity surrounding the Gear.
I love this thing. Facebook, Twitter, and Snapchat all have apps to access their services (if you're into that). The phone call clarity is actually better IMO than speaker phone on the Note and loving the camera function.

So I am sitting here with $500 burning a hole in my pocket and nobody on the planet (except the extortionists at ebay) will trade me my money for a new Evo!
Was it really such a shock that the Evo would sell so well or did HTC/Sprint just not care and run their usual production line anyway? It seems like they are losing money as well by falling behind on inventory, so maybe it was a surprise!

So...are you saying that HTC/Sprint purposely limited how many Evos they made the first time around because they knew there were problems?
My argument is not so much that I don't have an Evo, it is more about how few were produced by the release date compared to the demand.

This is very similar to the HTC Incredible through Verizon. It sounds like they just didn't have the production capabilities to fill the needs of two very hot devices. I wouldn't blame it on either Sprint or Verizon, as I'm sure all of them would have been happy to churn customers from other providers to sell new lines.
In the WA state area, they were next to impossible to find within the first month of release. I'd ended up returning the pair I got with my now ex-wife.
I was pretty lucky in getting one less than a week ago from Sprint in Bellevue, WA.

Same thing happened when the HTC Desire first came out. Both carriers and companies that sold unlocked phones were S.O.L. because they ran out of inventory sooner then they had expected.
Sucks dishing out $500+ and being told..."Sorry we are out of stock and you are now #??? and we promise to get you your phone ASAP!"

I have no issued with my Evo. No screen speeration, my screen is properly grounded and I got it at Best Buy.
When you think about it from a business viewpoint. If you release your phone a month prior to your biggest competition who you KNOW will sell out, due to the major changes in the component of the iPhone. Would you rather have your stock during initial release and flood the market? OR would you rather trickle your product into the market and have plenty on hand when your competition is struggling to fill orders?
Bottom line. Find a Sprint Store that handles repairs, they sell a higher volume then regular stores. Get on the waiting list and wait. It sucks, but it is SO worth it. I did and I got my phone surprisingly faster then I expected. I have had it for a full week now and love it.
We don't know exactly WHY Sprint has such a shortage, it COULD be just incompetence but I haven't been with sprint long enough to know. But I do know this phone was worth waiting for.
dam didnt know they would do that!

I have called two sprint stores and went by my local sprint shop. All three of them had no clue as to what i was talking about. They all sent me to the same online web sign up for notifications. Just FYI
Word on the street the date is June 4 when the phone drops.
Already pre-ordered and was #1 at the store. They didn't even know the preorder process but they figured it out eventually.

+1. Got to see how locked down it is before I make the move. I have a lot of confidence in the XDA folks being able to hack it but if encryption is involved that is another story. Also strongly considering the Galaxy S2, but stil leaning to the 3D.

I went to the Sprint store by my job and they said they knew nothing about accepting preorders for the Evo 3D yet. I went to the Radio Shack by my job and asked them how many people had gone there to preorder it and they told me none. So I paid my $50 and reserved my spot in the front of the line.
I'll be getting it on release day without fail.

If anyone is in Miami and want to get it on it, it is the Radio Shack in downtown.
Pre-ordered mine today at Best Buy, no problem at all. Just waiting for the official launch now! If the bootloader is locked then I may wait and use the $50 gift card for something else.
Tried to pre order at sprint. Rep stated not yet because E3D not coming out til July......that's the story

I pre ordered mine today @ Best Buy. Lady didn't even know if they were doing pre-orders yet, she had to ask another guy working. She found the SKU for it after digging forever on the computer. All good though...
I heard spring is doing instant rebates now but last year was awesome with the evo, they called me and set up an appointment for me to come in so they don't have a million people in the store at the same time. Was pretty happy with the experience there.

Honestly not sure its worth the wait. I'm kinda of content with my at&t htc one x+. Battery life, performance, etc. Dont see a whole lot of development for it in its forums yet but as long as I can get some cm10.1 soon I'll be good. Honestly the only real feature besides cm10 that interested me about the nexus 4 was the led notifications but not so sure thats even a big deal, maybe I'll keep the htc one x+ for now, not sure. Either way how can I cancel the order?

Oh ok thanks so I got a few more days to think about it I guess.
I'm not asking for anyone to convince me not too lol.
The thing is that the cancel link only works for like 1 hour after you order. I've tried to cancel one of my N4s for 2 weeks now to no avail. If I use the link now it says they tried to cancel but its past the time they can. So I would make sure u still have time since your from a different ordering group than me.

Ok I might as well as here? Should I keep my order and use the at&t htc one x+ until the nexus 4 arrives? I still got like 3 weeks before I have to return this htc one x+ to at&t. I'll take opinions now, maybe some of you guys have had a chance to use both devices.
I called and the representative said if you did not cancel within an hour you will have to wait until the package gets to your house and decline it.

This is not true. The rep fed me the same bs line. Go to... your original email receipt. Read the 3rd hyperlink after the total. Click, profit. you have 48 hours. I told the CS rep that if they didn't cancel it I'd just contest the charge with my bank and get my money either way. No way I'm going to let someone hold onto 400 bucks for 5 weeks.
So I guess I cant even cancel if I wanted to now. I'll just stick with my order. I see people who ordered on the 27th with a 1-2 week shipping estimate are already having their nexus 4 shipped. i wonder what that means for the 2-3 week group.
If you were to delete your card from your google account would it cancel the order? I mean anyone try cancelling via phone successfully? What other ways can you cancel an order?
They lock the payment before your order is placed, so removing your card won't do anything.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
is you cancel there is a 15% restocking fee and you will have to pay for your own shipping IFF it is shipped.
hmm this is weird.. I was able to cancel my 32gb Nexus 10 a full 1.5 days after buying it.
There are a lot of people wrong here. There is no restocking fee for canceling. In fact, it can make it to your door, or you can call UPS while it is in their possession and force them to send it back, and there is no restocking unless you opened the "package" Google says, which I'm assuming they mean is the phone itself, but I can't say for sure on this.

Stood in line for 2 hours only to find out none of my local Walmarts had ever carried it and I live in San Antonio.
Their website is charging $80 which doesn't match the advertised price. If I don't find something, I will probably be going to Walmart corporate and BBB. This ain't even right. I just wanted a Moto X.
Sent from my SGH-I747 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
So I tried to call Walmart's wireless sales number, they would only honor the price that is advertised on their website at $80.
I filed a complaint at the BBB for false advertising. I tried to call Walmart's 1-800-WALMART number but I only got silence on the other end, no ring or answer.
Anyone have any other ideas?
You're upset because your local Walmart was out of stock on a Black Friday promo item at 9 AM?

I think he means that they never had any in the first place. Still, this is why I never go to any store on black friday. Either I'll be disappointed that I didn't get what I wanted, or I'll get killed by a random person. How fun!
It's that they were advertising products which they had never sold before. None of the Walmarts in my area had ever stocked them before Black Friday. And the deal started at 8 am, so I was there at 6, third in line to get it. Everyone else was there for the iPhone, which they had 5 of.
Sent from my SGH-I747 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Maybe you should have called beforehand..?
Moto X on Verizon
I tried, but I was told they weren't taking calls because they were so busy.
But the point is that they were advertising something that was never carried in the store prior to the sale, and wasn't available in the sale either.
Sent from my SGH-I747 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
In the small print, in every ad, is a line that says "models and carriers vary by store."
I've carried the X for Verizon, Sprint, and U.S. Cellular since their respective release dates. We didn't have many, but there's also not a guarantee of being in stock.
Seemed like everyone and their brother was after the iPhone. We had 30 people standing in line for 20 phones.
Besides, even if the store did have the phone, there was no guarantee of getting it. The system was hammered so hard that it ran slower than dial-up. We had to take people's names so we could call them when everything was working again.
Because of all the issues, Wal-Mart did extend the gift card offer to Dec 7, so check around to some of the stores later in the week, they may get it in.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
The problem lies within the whole illusion of great deals on black Friday. Most stores have these "doorbuster deals" and only have a very, very limited stock on that particular item.(Like the 20 iPhones mentioned above, really, only 20!) The purpose is to drive sales on everything else. A lot of people come for a specific deal, don't get it, and instead of just leaving empty handed, they'll purchase other items.
I'd rather pay more for an item than deal with the crazies you see on the news.
Cell phones are a bit different than other things. Walmart actually guaranteed a lot of their doorbuster items in stock for an hour.
Moto X on Verizon
My Wal Mart had it but there systems were crap so I had to put it on hold and come in later
If they had actually had any in stock like they were supposed to, I would have gotten one because I was third in line and everyone else was there for the iPhone.
Maybe I'll try back Monday if they are actually extending the giftcard, but I don't think they will still have the devices at the same prices.
If nothing else, then I'll wait a bit longer for the price to drop a bit more (hopefully) on the MotoMaker, which i what I wanted in the first place because AT&T doesn't offer the 16GB in stores.
Well AT&T had the MX today for free, so I got it. Woo hoo.
See you all back here in a few days.

Hi,
I bought a Galaxy S4 I9505 off some guy on facebook for £300 (cash), he said it was an unwanted upgrade (even showed me the delivery note).
Two days later, yep, you guessed it. It's been reported lost and consequently the imei has been blacklisted.
I feel really stupid for falling for this scam and I have reported him to the fraud team on my local police website. Whether they do anything about it or not is another story.
My question is.. what can I do about it? I have a brand new, shiny £300 paper weight in my top draw!
I was thinking about buying a new logic board and hoping for a new clean imei? Or maybe buy a faulty/damaged i9505 and making a working phone from the pair?
I am not allowed to list it for sale on Swappa and I boycotted fleabay years ago, what are my options for selling abroad?
Should I just throw it? Hand it in to the police? Salvage it? Is it even still feasible to sell it abroad? I heard AT&T were sharing T-mobiles blacklist database to make it worldwide? Is this true?
Thanks in advance for any help, I will certainly learn from this mistake in future.

you should someohow contact the police and if you know the person who sold it you should give the police the numbers, this is really sad that people do this to others. but i'm sure you've heard when its "cheap" and theres no paper that the person has purchased it then you should just leave.
I'm going to report moderators to decide wether this thread should be open or not, but if i was you i would give it in.

Head's up....posts like this will get you uninvited to post on XDA.
We do not advocate changing IMEI's here. And we REALLY don't discuss how to do it. Any talk like this is a HUGE no no.
To the OP, You have a nice Wifi device at least. That's something. It's not like teh device is totally worthless.
You can also sell it on Craigslist as long as you are VERY clear and honest about its' condition. Of course that's a last resort of your local police can't do anything to help.
