GS3 in AT&T Stores

I have looked around and haven't really found a thread on this, so I wanted to start one.
Can people who have been to their local AT&T stores report what the sales reps are telling you about GS3 availability?
My local stores are now saying they will be in stock on Monday, June 25th. Is this consistent with what anyone else has been told? Has anyone actually gone into an AT&T store and found that they did in fact get them in stock today?
Please report your findings.

the ultimate insult for pre-order geeks like myself would be to be able to walk in a store and buy a phone off the shelf that millions of people who pre-ordered are still waiting for.....that would be a PR nightmare no matter what carrier you are on
if I were PR for any of them I would tell all the stores to keep them "on backorder status" until the majority or all pre-orders are fulfilled

Don't know what you mean by this...I'm not trolling, just want to know when I can walk into a store and buy an S3.

i have talked with three at&t's stores here in houston..........
all of them had said, the 28th....and that they were getting 2 order/shipments....one for pre-orders and one for instore(first come first serve)

I was in my local AT&T store today because the sim card sent with my phone wasn't LTE so they swapped it out. They had no idea when the phones were coming in but they had just got cases while I was there.

I assume no, they will not sell them in store until those pre-orders are done.

Nope. Went to the store last night to switch my new GS3 to a different line, and the employees all came running up as soon as they heard I had one - none of them had seen one yet... Good times

Went to my local store twice in the last week and called another. My store told me that it was going to be available in store on 20th June. On 20th I was told that they have no idea when its coming and check back on 24th. One store that I called told me that they had no idea because there is no form official communication from AT&T. Both stores didn't even have display models.

I understand that people who pre-ordered feel entitled to have the phone before anyone else , but there have been plenty of launches where people got their preordered phones after the launch date. Preordering doesn't put you first in line, it guarantees you a device... Ugh... Get ourselves.

but if there is enough stock to "launch", assuming you mean phones in stores for walk in buyers, there was enough phones to fulfill preorders, which came first...

I have checked my local store several times and was told the official release date would be June 28..
And would not sell me one until then....

I had mine for a couple days. But its the same here where no one is selling it. Out of all the places I went only one even had a couple cases. Good luck getting it. The GS3 is one of my favorite devices. And is worth getting for sure.

I just got back from my local AT&T store and they told me they would have it on the 28th and they would not have a demo model till then either.

OK, so I'm not sure how long this deal will stick around for, so if you want to take advantage, hurry on to AT&T.
I recently got my HTC One from AT&T, still during pre-order. I had signed up for the HTC deal where you could send in your old phone and get at least $100 back. Well my proof of purchase did not include the IMEI number, so I headed on over to AT&T and asked them to reprint the purchase order with the IMEI (which they did), then the rep told me that AT&T also has a trade-in program and that I could do it through them. I said "what the heck, give it a try and tell me how much I will get for one of my old phones (Samsung Galaxy Captivate)". He said $24 + $76 bonus on this new special program we are running, for an even $100 for my old Captivate. Sweeeeeeet! Went back the next day with my old captivate and wifes old captivate, rep told me $9, so I explained there's a new program and that the rep the previous day said it would come out to $100. Sure enough I got $100 for each of the phones for an even $200. The catch is you can only spend it at AT&T, so I applied it to my bill, it will stay there until the $200 runs out.

Trade-in two old phones -$200
HTC One for free in the bag. I love it.
Just posting this so someone else with an older phone can take advantage.

I went to AT&T last time to order one, but since my 2 year contract has not ended yet, I decided to pay full price. The manager told me no, he can't sell it to me full price because this is a hot phone and only available to people who sign a 2year deal. So I left and bought the dev edition on HTC website.

Actually the thing that makes this special is the 100 dollar minimum. They will buy a blackberry curve for 100 bucks. That's a hell of a deal. That's why they tried to offer him 9$ the first time. I think this is a thing directly from HTC not really just at&t.

yes most companies do offer that... but $100 for a captivate?!.... Yes it is something special.
Also, I don't believe this is an HTC thing. I was able to get $100 for my wife's old captivate and she didn't even get an upgrade.

I bought mine online a week ago. Do you think I could walk into a store with the receipt and do the same thing? It just seems easier than the HTC trade in (which I might also do anyway since I have a Captivate and an iPhone 3GS).

He's right dudes. I work at RadioShack as the assistant manager. You definitely can't even think about getting $100 for a captivate at the shack. I really would take advantage of this deal...pretty dang good to me. And I've been in the business for quite some time.

Yes, I sat on my laptop this morning, researched product numbers for items, and proceeded to photoshop an electronic receipt just so that I can reap the acceptance of everyone on XDA.
It was a serious question. I wasn't sure if this was an actual promotion or if I just got extreeeeeemly lucky.

Colossal screwup perhaps? Seems odd they would discount the more expensive of the two. I could almost see it being the other way though... buy a Note 3 outright and get a free gear.
Let us know if you get contacted about it. If this is actually true, there are going to be a LOT of PO'd people I would gather.

So far I haven't been.
What's weird is that the day I got the phone, they didnt have the Gear in stock yet so the saleswoman told me they'd ship it to my house (that was friday). Monday came along and I was curious about a tracking number so I called Sprint. Sprint had no idea what I was talking about. Called the store back and the saleswoman who sold me the phone said they were shipping it straight from the store.
This wasn't a third party Sprint store either, it was a corporate one.
I'm going to go with the theory that she wanted me and gave me a freebie. Regardless, I don't get the hate for this watch. I think its pretty damned sweet.

Whatever her reasoning was, you definitely got the better end of that deal! Have you tried out the Gear yet? I'm fighting the urge to grab one...but the desire to walk around and talk to my wrist like James T.Kirk may prove to be too much for me to resist, :laugh:

I don't get all the negativity surrounding the Gear.
I love this thing. Facebook, Twitter, and Snapchat all have apps to access their services (if you're into that). The phone call clarity is actually better IMO than speaker phone on the Note and loving the camera function.

$50 MX + $100 gift card at Walmart is a sham

Stood in line for 2 hours only to find out none of my local Walmarts had ever carried it and I live in San Antonio.
Their website is charging $80 which doesn't match the advertised price. If I don't find something, I will probably be going to Walmart corporate and BBB. This ain't even right. I just wanted a Moto X.

So I tried to call Walmart's wireless sales number, they would only honor the price that is advertised on their website at $80.
I filed a complaint at the BBB for false advertising. I tried to call Walmart's 1-800-WALMART number but I only got silence on the other end, no ring or answer.
Anyone have any other ideas?

I think he means that they never had any in the first place. Still, this is why I never go to any store on black friday. Either I'll be disappointed that I didn't get what I wanted, or I'll get killed by a random person. How fun!

It's that they were advertising products which they had never sold before. None of the Walmarts in my area had ever stocked them before Black Friday. And the deal started at 8 am, so I was there at 6, third in line to get it. Everyone else was there for the iPhone, which they had 5 of.

I tried, but I was told they weren't taking calls because they were so busy.
But the point is that they were advertising something that was never carried in the store prior to the sale, and wasn't available in the sale either.

In the small print, in every ad, is a line that says "models and carriers vary by store."
I've carried the X for Verizon, Sprint, and U.S. Cellular since their respective release dates. We didn't have many, but there's also not a guarantee of being in stock.
Seemed like everyone and their brother was after the iPhone. We had 30 people standing in line for 20 phones.
Besides, even if the store did have the phone, there was no guarantee of getting it. The system was hammered so hard that it ran slower than dial-up. We had to take people's names so we could call them when everything was working again.
Because of all the issues, Wal-Mart did extend the gift card offer to Dec 7, so check around to some of the stores later in the week, they may get it in.

The problem lies within the whole illusion of great deals on black Friday. Most stores have these "doorbuster deals" and only have a very, very limited stock on that particular item.(Like the 20 iPhones mentioned above, really, only 20!) The purpose is to drive sales on everything else. A lot of people come for a specific deal, don't get it, and instead of just leaving empty handed, they'll purchase other items.
I'd rather pay more for an item than deal with the crazies you see on the news.

Cell phones are a bit different than other things. Walmart actually guaranteed a lot of their doorbuster items in stock for an hour.

My Wal Mart had it but there systems were crap so I had to put it on hold and come in later

If they had actually had any in stock like they were supposed to, I would have gotten one because I was third in line and everyone else was there for the iPhone.
Maybe I'll try back Monday if they are actually extending the giftcard, but I don't think they will still have the devices at the same prices.
If nothing else, then I'll wait a bit longer for the price to drop a bit more (hopefully) on the MotoMaker, which i what I wanted in the first place because AT&T doesn't offer the 16GB in stores.

Well AT&T had the MX today for free, so I got it. Woo hoo.

Its launching tommorrow and Bestbuy at least in mu case is quiet. id figure I would have gotten an email by now. Wondering if anyone else that preordered from them has heard anything???

Very strange
I,ve heard from someone that they might be calling orders up to imform them tonite, but truthfully dont like the way bestbuy is handling this. They have to have them in their stock room by now, so why not just shoot an email to those of us patiently waiting.

Just got an email from Bestbuy telling me I can pick up my order starting tomorrow but no later than Saturday.
Unfortunately for BestBuy and Sprint, I have decided to switch to AT&T and bought a TMo phone in the interim. The Note 4 is waiting on my doorstep as I type.

Still haven't heard anything for the Verizon Note 4 yet fromBBY. Rumors are showing that Verizon is now launching with everyone else tomorrow, but I can't find anything to confirm this.

I can tell that bestbuy here on long island is playing games. The girl rep I spoke to sounded arrogant and they are playing a power trip. According to her I will get an email to,morrow morning. No one gets shipment early in the morning. If I dont hear anything by 8'pm tonitemim going in and cancelling it. I have a rep,from,at&t holding one for me for tommorrow anyway. Id rathermnot give bestbuy my business. I hate how they do business.

Arrogant employee's in my opinion. It was 4:50, walked into the commack store, and told them to just cancel. I had called AT&T store near me, they couldn't be nicer. Salesman wanted to sell me phone today, but manager wouldn't let. They put one in safe for me, its 100 per cent guarantee....no emails from best buy, and they have nerve to say they haven't received shipment. Thats a crock, cause I know for a fact AT&T had their phones in the back for a week now, won't deal with Bestbuy again if I can help it. Im done. Good luck to all.
