Blocking ads non root device. - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just wondering...
Any apps that enable us to block ads from apps on non root devices?
:highfive:

Anyone?
My previous phones were the Galaxy Nexus and the Nexus 4, both rooted with adaway, ads are REALLY annoying

You must be rooted. Simple as that.

You can use "naked browser pro" on playstore without be rooted

He asked how to block ads in apps not browser...

Ads on the phone itself, I don't think is possible.
In a browser, I recommend using Firefox with Adblock Plus.

[Q] Ad Blocking

I have rooted my I9505, but neither AdAway or AdFree seem to block the ads they used to on my S3. I am using the same apps (Titanium Backup restore) so why would this be the case?
I'm using Firefox Beta with adblock plus add-on and everything works great here.

For me it works with AdAway. (I9505 XXUAMDN)
Maybe try a new install from the scratch..

Tell us the apps which have annoying ads and I'll check if AdAway blocks them on mine.
It's blocked every app-ad perfectly for me.
My adaway works great also... but some of the apps with ads built in are not blockable.... The internet and all that works
But tell us which apps and we can test as well

ALERT! Android Pay Won't Function

This is a warning to all of you with rooted devices. I just downloaded the new Android pay found that it is coded not to function on a rooted device. If you install it and find that it does not work as I do, then go to A download mirror and download the original Google Wallet.

I heard that it works if you unroot, install Pay, then reroot.

I tried it. Still does not allow credit card entry.
Oh and be careful... it's disguised as an update of Google Wallet but it REPLACES it with Android Pay which will not allow you to use it with rooted phone.
Did anyone try xposed module to hide root from specified app?
Guys, having the phone no rooted os a prerequisite to have Google pay to work. This is for any phone.
So if you plan to user it un root the phone

None of the xposed modules work.
I did a fresh install of the SuperZen rom, disabled root, added the cards and re-enabled root. Seem to be working fine now...haven't actually used it at a store though.

Why you reflash rom when there's a better solution? Xposed rootcloak is an old module, may not work now with some new apps, so the solution is simple, instal "Hide rooting premium", it work with almost all banking apps and ondemand streaming aps like Sky or else. Oneclik hide root, open wallet and pay, just another click to reenable root.

He meant first he unrooted phone then used Android pay then rooted again

Actually, there is an option to disable and enable root in the SuperSU app.

Has anyone tried using SuperSU to do this?
Yes, used SuperSU Pro couldn't add card and had to full unroot after reflashing. Just tried to use Android Pay and it rejected and said card can be used. Will try another retailer and have a phone with Android Pay set up and have never been rooted.
If you have inadvertently allowed the update to occur to the new Android pay, and would like to use the tap and pay of the original Android wallet, I have at least temporarily gotten the original Wallet back by first uninstalling the new Android pay then installing the older wallet apk. I don't know how long it will work but for now tap & pay is working. I have included here a link to the old apk.

Very true. If you don't want to take a chance on my link, then look for the file on more trusted. APK mirrors. I created the APK using SD Maid from my backup. You can do the same. So far I've simply refused the update and the old Wallet still working.
If we want Google to do something about this, please go to the Android pay app in the Play Store and rate it 1 star and give your reason as not being functional on the hundreds of thousands of rooted phones
Confirmed:
1. Unroot in SuperSU
2. Install credit cards
3. Re-root in SuperSU
4. DONE!

Root without Knox possible? Do I lose my data?

Hi,
Well I made it half a year without root but I want my adaway back. Adguard just doesn't work very well.
Is it in the meantime possible to root without triggering Knox? I don't really care that much anymore but if it was, I would go for it.
Also, can I root without having to format the phone?
Thanks!

You better not root if you wanna play safe on this side. and about the ad block, format onece and purchase a good anti virus (internet security) which doesn't even cost much. it'll prevent phising web page and adware away from your phone. although android is based on linux. so it won't be virus affected just yet. happy use.

yes, you can root without formatting your device. But knox will be tripped which could cause samsung/dealer to refuse to repair your phone.
Netguard from github is working nicely for adblocking without root

Thanks! The adhell thingy looks fine and seems to work. And it doesn't need a simulated VPN like Adguard.
Just installed adhell and it looks like it works very well. Any advantages of disconnect me?
I think there is a way to reset knox, but dont know, wether a link is allowed or not here!?
As long as it is no scam, why should it be forbidden?
