This is a warning to all of you with rooted devices. I just downloaded the new Android pay found that it is coded not to function on a rooted device. If you install it and find that it does not work as I do, then go to A download mirror and download the original Google Wallet.

I tried it. Still does not allow credit card entry.
Oh and be careful... it's disguised as an update of Google Wallet but it REPLACES it with Android Pay which will not allow you to use it with rooted phone.
Did anyone try xposed module to hide root from specified app?
Guys, having the phone no rooted os a prerequisite to have Google pay to work. This is for any phone.
So if you plan to user it un root the phone

None of the xposed modules work.
I did a fresh install of the SuperZen rom, disabled root, added the cards and re-enabled root. Seem to be working fine now...haven't actually used it at a store though.

Why you reflash rom when there's a better solution? Xposed rootcloak is an old module, may not work now with some new apps, so the solution is simple, instal "Hide rooting premium", it work with almost all banking apps and ondemand streaming aps like Sky or else. Oneclik hide root, open wallet and pay, just another click to reenable root.

Yes, used SuperSU Pro couldn't add card and had to full unroot after reflashing. Just tried to use Android Pay and it rejected and said card can be used. Will try another retailer and have a phone with Android Pay set up and have never been rooted.
If you have inadvertently allowed the update to occur to the new Android pay, and would like to use the tap and pay of the original Android wallet, I have at least temporarily gotten the original Wallet back by first uninstalling the new Android pay then installing the older wallet apk. I don't know how long it will work but for now tap & pay is working. I have included here a link to the old apk.

Very true. If you don't want to take a chance on my link, then look for the file on more trusted. APK mirrors. I created the APK using SD Maid from my backup. You can do the same. So far I've simply refused the update and the old Wallet still working.
If we want Google to do something about this, please go to the Android pay app in the Play Store and rate it 1 star and give your reason as not being functional on the hundreds of thousands of rooted phones
Confirmed:
1. Unroot in SuperSU
2. Install credit cards
3. Re-root in SuperSU
4. DONE!

Just curious to see what everyone plans on doing once root comes since there's barely any development.... yet. I would like to find a work around in order to enable free mobile hotspot. Any ideas on how to do this?

Brick my phone maybe hehe. Seriously install Ti Pro and freeze the bloat then unlock tethering.
Probably either install AdAway or enable all of the Tasker profiles from my old phone that require Secure Settings.
Install Ti Pro and freeze all the bloat
Install ad away
Modify the default volume levels
Get rid of that annoying boot sound
Figure out the wifi tethering
Install xposed and gravitybox and set a batt percent, change up the tiles to my liking and set pin quick unlock
IN THAT ORDER! CANT WAIT!
Edit: how could I forget - install tasker and secure settings, then restore my scripts for bluetooth and security
Edit Edit - I'll probably install the latest version of lenovo super cam app as a system app and disable all the live wallpapers.

Was the same up to the Droid RAZR M as well at least that was as far as I tested but never know unless you try. Worst case scenario I can just flash the phone through RSD Lite to receive the OTA properly.

so for those who don't want to use the current risky method of root there is this app that allows temp root.if properly used you can temp root your moto x running 4.4.4 its root via app as you can see exposed works just fine so does titanium back up and other non kernel related root apps

I don't know why more people aren't talking about this and working on it. The brick your device and flash rooted version isn't appealing to me at this point. I updated my device to 4.4.4 like 2 days before they announced that Jcase had found an exploit. This method makes me a little nervous because not many people are talking about it. I'm still on stock NI2 4.4.4, but I rooted many moons ago. Ever since Google updated their Wallet app to the new Wallet with Android pay, I can't use Wallet with NFC. I used to use the vending machine, but now it says "android pay cannot be used" and it kicks me back out. I tried temp unrooting with SuperSU, as well as RootCloak. I even tried older versions of the Wallet app, but nothing works. Anyone have luck with this? Maybe I should cross post in the Unified S5 thread.
As far as I know they removed the 'tap to pay' function from Wallet. You can only use it with Android Pay.

I have rooted and flashed just about every android phone I have owned, including SGS2, SGS4 and SGN4 that I had previous to the SGS7e.
I am very happy with the smoothness and fluidity of stock. And I know what advantages root etc brings.
But my question is... are custom ROMS considered to be as smooth and fluid as stock?
advantages: Xposed, other than that I don't see a reason.
You could root without flashing a custom ROM?

Ever heard of an app called "S package disabler" before? You can delete almost anything, even the stock messaging app or such, lol.
Ooh I came to the right thread, just got my s7 edge as a replacement for my note 5 and boy am I itching to root it... I only lasted a few weeks with my note 5 until I had to root it.. I agree the ui and performance is great on stock but I'm missing viper4android and titanium backup badly... I wanted to stay stock so I could use Samsung pay and my bankings mobile payment but I don't see myself using it much. That and maybe also resale value since id like to upgrade to the s8 but I'm not sure how much longer I can hold off lol. Hopefully this thread will help my decision...

Wait... There shouldn't be Facebook app pre installed first of all... If it is, you should be able to easily remove it. You should try flashing a clean version of the rom (even if stock) from a different region (not US, for unlocked versions). I think after this you won't have any apps to disable.
The only app that I had pre installed was My Vodafone, which I need anyway but it can be easily uninstalled. Also, I disabled S voice but that's on every Sammy phone.
This is the one version that is working for me.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.packagedisabler
Erm... Was working should I say. With the last version, it keeps crashing for me. I'm sure it will be fixed soon tho.

Well.. You know how it goes. Legally it doesn't void your warranty, companies just rely on those customers who don't care, and unfortunately there is majority of those.
Btw, try to flash the clean rom if you have the international version. This won't void your warranty (it will not trigger knox) as its original package directly from Samsung.

No..i was not talking about debloated (custom) rom. I was talking about a clean stock rom without the apps you mentioned. It's just a rom that is official, probably targeted to a different market/country and it won't trigger knox.
You can download it here, an installation guide is there as well: http://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/how-to/official-stock-firmware-update-odin-t3335065
I know this might sound pathetic to the pro flashers but for me the biggest advantages are no ads, no bloatware and no samsung emojis. Custom Roms are amazing but I simply don't have the time to flash everything anymore
True, I've been a flasher myself but now I'm just not into it, just want a phone to run properly, be productive and that's it... That's why had a Note 5 then the 7...really missing the pen functionality

Hello everybody,
Share your experience with both Magisk and SuperSU root and enlighten others. Which root method is the most powerful? Which causes problems in the long run on GS7? Since I am not a Snapchat user, I find SuperSU more convenient and powerful. What are your takes on this?
I prefer SuperSU because it feels more polished but many people opt for Magisk nowadays because it isn't closed-source.

Samsung Galaxy S7 G930T USA Version
So, I've ROM'ed this phone twice thus far. Once Nougat rolled out and then a couple of days ago with a Hybrid ROM of the original OS. Which is pretty nice when our rooted all the time. Problem is When I root its' there for a few hours then it's gone. I intentionally did not complete steps 7-10 just so I could keep my phone rooted and unlocked. Woke up this morning and Root was gone. Like it never happened. WTF!!! It's cool Now I'm going to give this 930U a shot today. What the hell right. Will the G930U hold the root??? I mean the U stands for unlocked so it would make sense that it does.. If so will it mess with my T-mobile service? When I did nougat I the did not have the standard S7 available. I said screw it and gave it a shot.. Not only has my phone thought its been a G935, But they only had verizon at the time as well.
It took me days of writing custom access points and resetting hundreds of settings for IMS and SMS to get it back to normal. Even then it would act weird.
This ROM has Nougat in it correct? I hate this OS. When I do ROM this in with U I should be able to then put in Cosmic or some other ROM then with no problems right??
None the less, I'm going to post a video you tube when I'm done. I'm sure it will be suspenseful. I've got people gambling on weather or not my phone is brick by the end of the day... LOL, Nothing ventured nothing gained.

I have not had much luck with a lot of these Rooters. Matter of fact the only way I've been able to root this for temporarily is by the Engineering_ROM. Everything else I've tried, thwrp, SuperSu, Magisk, snapdagon. they all soft brick me instantly. Every time. I do use SuperSU, And it's a great utility, but it's a bit different then how non USA S7 users do it.
Plus I loose all the functionality of Supersu in a few hours anyway when the root disappears. I'm hoping when I switch over to G930U Today that I will no longer loose my root and unlocked state.
