The camera light on my Nexus 4 will not turn off, and the really weird thing is that it stays lit even after the device is powered off. This likely is caused by liquid damage from earlier today when I accidentally splashed some water into my open briefcase with the N4 inside. The phone has been powered off for several hours now -- and is inside a bag of rice as a last resort for rescuing it - but the camera flash is still lit. Before powering down I tried turning on and off a flashlight app that's installed, but it failed to shut off the light. I also tried to take a flash picture, but the camera app failed to open. Everything else seemed to work OK - the display, the voice and data - except there's no audio from web streaming.
I'm wondering if anyone has heard of or experienced this - especially the light staying on when the device is powered off. Thanks for any help.
I'm posting this follow-up in case anyone ever searches the forum about this problem. I'm certain this was caused by the liquid exposure, but luckily everything returned to normal after storing the phone powered-off in a sealed bag of rice for a day and a half (and for good measure, inside a car parked outside on a dry, sunny 85° day). When I removed the phone from the bag, the camera flash was off, and I assumed it had discharged the battery. But in fact there was still about a 40% charge remaining on the battery when I connected the charger. So the camera flash must have shut off at some point while drying out. In the weeks since the water spill I haven't found any other glitches with this device, so in this case at least, the bag of rice did the trick.

A few days ago, the world was a happy place. Then I slipped on a patch of ice and my head bounced like a basketball off the pavement. As painful as that was, the true pain was the sight of my new LG G2 fully submerged in ice cold water. Putting aside all other injuries, I rushed to turn off the G2 (still on), within 10 minutes I had it covered in silica gel packets, in which it remained for the next 30 hours. I then tried to power it on, without any response at all. I left it in some rice and silica gel packets for another 24 hours. Then I took it out and tried powering it on again, this time the Power LED comes on while it is pressed down, but it turns off after I let go. There is no other response. One of my 3rd party power adapters does have an LED illuminate after I connect the phone. My Surface does not detect any devices over USB when connected.
At this point I'm starting to think that my phone is toast, but I hope that some wizened old veteran of XDA may pull a solution out of their magic hat. Any takers? I've searched the forums and tried some of their advice (rice, hard reset, air drying).
If you have a warranty now would be the time to use it. Otherwise, you should keep up the long term drying for a while. Try turning on the phone and putting a flashlight up to it, it could be possible the backlight isn't functioning.
Hi guys!
Unfortunately I dropped my LG G2 into water yesterday. That was my first time that I had my phone wet, so I panicked a bit and acted on instict, which probably wasn't the best option.
The phone was in its Slim Armor case and was submerged in the water for maybe a second or two. I removed the case, quickly attempted to turn off the phone (it reacted normally, both the switch and display, although signalled that jack was inserted, which wasn't true). After drying the phone with a paper towel and mouth-blowing some water out of USB, jack and speakers I tried to turn it on again (which, as I read later, wasn't the best idea). At first there was no reaction. After drying it a bit more I tried again and... surprise, the LG sign showed up as normal! However, my enthusiasm extinguished quickly as Firmware Update screen turned on. and looked exactly like this (with only a bit different code). I cannot post links, so please enter it by yourself if necessary.

I have never seen that screen before and my phone has never been rooted. What is more, it ceased to react - it did not dim for hours and didn't notice pressing buttons in different combinations.
I then put it in rice and silica gel (still lit and showing the Update Screen) for some hours and tried to turn it off again. Fortunately, this time the switch button worked.
After a brief search in the internet, I removed the back cover and wiped out residual drops of water that were underneath it (not really much water was there, single drops spread all around, did not even look like penetrating into deeper parts... even the water indicator on the right of the camera remained white).
Now the phone has been sitting in a tightly closed jar with rice and silica for at least 12 hours.
What should I do next? Should I try to switch it on again?
May the Update Screen be a sign of a damaged motherboard, or maybe some less dangerous short in the USB socket and switches (as I read, the Update is turned on by a combination of switch and volume buttons and plugging an USB)?
I'd be grateful for any help!
Greetings!
My wife transitioned into my older GS4 (i337) after her GS3 power button failed. The GS3 was repaired and set aside as a spare (good idea). After getting settled into the GS4, it experienced a water "event". She was wise enough to pull the battery and get it into some rice. It stayed there for a few hours until I could get to it. She said it only had a little water inside, but the rice was a precaution. The water indicator on the battery only had one tiny bit of pink . Guessing the Trident Aegis case did some good protecting there. I took the phone out of the rice and placed it under a desk lamp that has a history of being a bit of a heat lamp. I used it to warm the phone for a few hours before I checked the phone's viability.
I kept the SIM and the SD card out for first power up attempt. ALIVE! I noticed that the battery was low, so I connected a charger. No chargee. Reboot no help. Powered off and attempted to charge. When powered off, it did give a short vibration and a quick screen flash, maybe a few lines, every 6 seconds. Expecting that the phone would work, but not have charging capabilities. Quite inconvenient.
What parts could I throw at it? Since the charging port was really the only place water could have gotten in while the phone was on, I decided to throw that part at it. I found this one (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HA3HW1A?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00) on Amazon, so figgered I would give it a chance. Took about 20 minutes to replace it.
Jackpot. Charged right up, plobby faster than I had previously experienced.
If you experience a water "event" and the device wakes, but won't charge, this could be the fix. The part I ordered came with everything you need (tools). There are several videos on youtube that show you everything you need to know. Watch a few before you begin. Some have hints and pointers that others don't.
Hope someone finds this post helpful. Thank me if you do!
I had an s4 that also got wet but I took the phone part completely before placing the phone in a plastic bag with desiccant.
Also, if you experience a situation where you receive an on-screen message that says "Charging paused, battery temperature too low", it's also probably a USB port issue.
I have exhausted all of the options I know to do, so I have come to you for other opinions.
My 4 month old Nexus 6P (on Marshmallow) has seemingly died. Yesterday it went from about 50-60% battery life, then the next time I checked it it was off and would not turn back on.
What can it do? On AC Power:
Shows Charging screen (white battery on black)
Will boot as far as 4 Google dots screen, vibrate, then bootloop (usually just goes as far as Google Screen)
Can access & navigate bootloader screen
Can run TWRP (unencrypt drive, and full touch screen capabilities)
TWRP initially says battery 50% then changes to 0% (does the same thing with battery removed)
Immediately turns off when unplugged
Powered from USB port:
red blinking led
Originally I thought it could have been due to being in my pocket during a bit of rain and it happened to get moist. (Moist, as in less water in/on it than my morning shower gets on it.) So I immediately place it in a sealed bag of silica gel for about 15 hours and tested it in the morning with the same results.
Today, having to switched to an old iPhone 5, I grew desperate. I have:
Taken the phone apart (without breaking the rear glass panel - one good thing) and pulled the battery.
Saw no obvious signs of liquid anywhere
Tested battery with multi-meter (reads 4volts)
Unplugged all ribbon cables, cleaned contacts with isopropyl
Cleaned top of mobo, doughter board, any open contacts.
Blow dried all the alcohol/water away
Battery in or out, my results have not changed since yesterday when it all first began. After reading about others with the 6P having mobo and battery issues I believe the rain is simply a red herring. I have ordered a new battery which will be in next week. I have not ruled the motherboard as not the problem yet, but just seems strange to have TWRP work seemingly without issues if that was it. Otherwise I have no options. I bought it at BestBuy, and I am of course rooted, so cannot send it in to Huawei (unless i can re-lock boot loader and hide signs of opening?)
I can not stand this iPhone, any ideas I will gladly attempt. Let me know If I have left out any information.
Thanks guys/gals.
Adam
Edited to make clarifications.
Water Damage(?)
For anyone curious or following, I removed the motherboard and components completely and did see signs of water. There was some corrosion around the front facing cameras and around the CPU (it appears water got in from sim card tray). Soaking the entire board in alcohol did not fix the issue. I have bought a new motherboard which hopefully will do the trick.
I'll update when its all said and done if forum is still open.

I've have had the phone for 2 years and it had been working fine until last summer, where I had accidentally left it in my trunks pocket when I went out swimming, It had to be underwater for like 10 minutes or so before I realized it, thankfully, we were on holiday in Turkey at the time so I could leave the phone (without a lid or battery) on the balcony for days to dry. And eventually, it worked! But that came with a few issues.
1. The phone would shut off randomly.
2. Had to charge the phone to power it on.
3. The camera had a few dark spots where water got in.
4. When the phone was powered off it would constantly start beeping, the same beep you hear when I power it on.
5. Speakers are weak.
Nowadays, I am pretty sure all the water is out of the phone, and I am only having these issues now.
1. The camera had dark spots.
2. Speakers are weak.
But yesterday, things were getting weird, when I closed the phone (close the phone, not power it off), and I try to open it again, it would not open and would randomly make a beep sound, then the buttons on the bottom would light up, the only thing I can do to make it normal was removing the battery, when I did that I tried putting the battery back in, and it is back to making those beeping sounds I mentioned on point 4. So I tried charging the phone to power it on, and it still didn't do anything! I found the only way to power the phone on was charging it without the battery then waiting like an hour for the 'charging' sign to come up allowing me to power the phone and insert the battery back in. But it still won't open when the phone is closed (again, closed, not powered off).
What should I do?
Water got in. Deep. And the fact that it was not disassembled and let to dry made it worse. Water could have still been inside. And the fact that you still used it didn't help either. Time for a new device.

The thing is, everything works, It's just the hard procedure of powering it on. But yeah, I might as well leave it on forever with certain apps until its time is up. FPBP to you sir.
You could certainly replace the speakers and camera, but I for one have no idea what the heck is happening with the weird sleep issue (yes, closing the phone=putting your pc into sleep or hibernate). I say it could be a power button failure, but if you could order a new frame off of ebay and replace it, see if the issue is still here. And that's not a beep, that's a tune you hear when the phone powers on. Or the vibration? Please clarify.
