Hello all,
I have started using Aquamail because of certain limitations with the stock mail app on the G2 (one being that i cant find how to change the check frequency to less than 15 minutes).
Now that I'm using a different mail app, I'd like to disable the LG mail app. How do I do this?
Thanks!
You can use Titanium Backup to freeze the stock mail app.
Is that the only thing that will do it? Any way just using the OS?

Forgive me if this topic has been raised before -- I searched and didn't see anything.
I am seeing two issues with my Epic relating to e-mail I haven't seen raised.
1. Generic e-mail client doesn't sync reliably. It ran reliably for a day or two, but has stopped polling, and now the only way I can get the accounts in it to update is to go into the client and open them.
2. I cannot seem to get more than 2 gmail accounts added to the gmail client. I have three google accounts, and I had to set up my third one in the generic client after repeated attempts to add it to the gmail client resulted in server connection fails.
Anyone else seeing this? Is it possible I have a defective phone or something I did during the course of rooting (noobnl's one-click v 2.2.9) broke some functionality? Is it possible that the service responsible for the client's polling activity got broken?
Thanks in advance.
My email has been updating automatically fine. I've only had my Epic for a little over two weeks, though. I don't have multiple Gmail accounts so can't say. Also, I'm not rooted yet ( I've been waiting for the 2.2 upgrade). I'm not crazy about everything in the generic client but it does seem to work very well.
I thought I was having the same issue as OP, but I found that I guess I accidentally switched automatic updates off in the settings.
I have had my Epic since it launched and yes this has been an issue for me. I thought maybe I had something set wrong but I don't. I actually check my Yahoo acct through the browser now. It doesn't really bother me to much though so I deal with it. Facebook for Android is the same way usually too.

This is a common issue if you search around.
I've given up on the stock email app and just use K9 mail. Works perfectly. Has a few more options than the stock app too, although like a lot of open-source apps, maybe too many. I still haven't gotten all the fonts to look the way I want. But it's functional and doesn't give me any problems with syncing. An email app that won't tell me when I have new email is useless to me, and the stock app would only do that for maybe a day unless I rebooted. K9 always notifies me of email immediately.
I'm having a problem of my own. I just tried to send an attachment in the stock email app but I get a FC when I hit attach. In the gmail app however it works, gives me the option of gallery or astro. Could the FC in the email app occuring because I uninstalled the myfiles app and it defaults to it?

Exactly the same problem. Stock email client works for a while then just quits.
But anyway, thanks for the tip re K-9 mail. Just installed it and will give it a try. It is indeed considerably more complimicated and will probably take some fiddling to get everything the way I want it, but that's OK -- I guess if I wanted simple but uncofigurable functionality I'd have a feature phone or an iPhone.
Seems like the FB app does the same thing. Anyone have a suggestion for a good 3d-party FB client?
Oh, and does anyone else have more than 2 accounts in gmail?
reboot will fix it for a short period
same problem here... worked for two weeks and now only syncs if manually. Rebooting the phone gets it going again... for a few more days and then it will no longer sync again!
Hi guys,
I've noticed when using the standard email app with Froyo versions, battery use is very high. I've used spare parts and it shows pretty partial wake usage for the email app.
I've removed my account from it, and installed the TouchDown email app, and now it is fine, but I prefered the stock app.
Anyone have any info on this?
Cheers,
Mal
Yes, this is a generic Froyo bug.
Set the retreive interval to "Push" or "Never" and cpu usage is back to normal

Also documented similar problem with Email app and IMAP on folders containing >60 messages.

You are probably better off just setting the default messaging app to be GoSMS, then hiding the native messaging app with your launcher. I found that removing some unwanted apps such as GTalk caused problems with others (mainly google ones)
I have Handcent and the CyanogenMod messaging apps and the both receive the same data and handle the same data, I only use handcent because the (quite older) ROM that I am using uses an old CM Messaging app which doesnt allow me to select from contacts.
If you do decide to remove the .apk's or .odex's be sure to back them up first before deleting them in /system!
Good Luck!
The answer is yes.
Hi Guys,
I updated to Gingerbread a couple of weeks ago and the Mail stock app (Not the Gmail app) does not get the new emails from my Gmail account.
I does not have problems with other email providers, only Gmail.
I deleted the account, created a new one and get a few messages initially, but after that initial sync it desn't download any new email. If I sync manually doesn't work either.
Any suggestion?
Thanks
Did you do a hard reset after upgrading with Gingerbread?
If not - do it.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
reinstalling the app usually fix's this kind of error. if it is a stock app go to market and find the app and look for updates.
As the previous 2 people said, all i'd suggest is reinstalling the app, making sure it's up to date or even just setting up your account again (in the app)
I found it was caused by gmail app being setup for the email address aswell as the HTC mail app. They seemed to be conflicting with each other when syncing. Disable the gmail app and see if that helps.

Thanks kujoswrath, that sorted it out
Is there any way to remove the stock email apps. in the stock ROM of the N7? I want the only email app. on my N7 to be MailDroid Pro..
If the stock email apps. can be removed, is there any way to set MailDroid Pro. as the default email app.?
Best bet is freezing it with titanium backup. I think you need paid version.....but it is well worth getting paid version!!
I freeze email on my phone and n7 always.

No need to remove stock email app. You can just remove your account for stock email if you have already set it up one and then use another email app.
or if you really need to 'remove' the app, use a root explorer app and go to /system/app and remove email.apk
titanium backup will let you uninstall as well.
Ah ok. Installed Titanium Backup. Looks like it will let me uninstall the Gmail app. and the stock email app.. Are there any other apps. or system dependencies that require the presence of either of these built-in email apps.?
Is there any way to make MailDroid Pro. the default email app.?
You could just disable it in app settings. I have done this with several of stock apps that I never use.
