nothing wrong, the OS used some of the RAM to operates..
all other phones/computer does the same..

Nothing is wrong. It is normal.
The rest is use by the system.

I think some RAM is reserved for the graphic chip.
This could get much worse: For example, the "Samsung Galaxy Note 3" has 3GB of RAM, yet it shows only 2.3GB...

Note 3 has a ridiculous amount reserved for the hardware.

Thanks for the quick answers now i can live peacefully with my LG G2 with no worries at all. :victory:

Well seeing this idk if its just the Verizon variant but I only have made 1gb to use. Is that supposed to be right?

I'm on my 2nd G2 and I'm not about to get on my third but I notice on both device both get rather low on ram with regular use.
Could anyone on the T Mobile version verified how much RAM they constantly having after opening up a couple of apps?
I got as low as 300mb free one the regular.

Guys, till you have Free ram available it is all good. The Free ram is just sitting idle and doing nothing, you paid the price for RAM, make it work
If something needs more ram then what is available, OS memory management will take care of it. So sit relax and push the phone to it's limits.

Free RAM is wasted RAM. Just use it all up and when an app needs some RAM android itself will flush some apps you haven't used in ages to compensate for it via set adj and oom values.

The reason is that XDA have incorrectly typed up 32 GB of RAM instead of 32 GB of ROM while stated ROM is 2 GB
Guys, if you look at the Nexus 10 landing page, you will see that it is incorrectly listed as that... hilarious but incorrect.
Can a mod change it please?

I don't know why you'd be upset if it did have 32GB of RAM. You could load the whole OS and all apps and data into RAM at boot and have a blazing fast system! Sure, boot and shutdown would be slow but I think the performance boost would be pretty significant.

Android is multiarch, but the ARMv7 chipset in Nexus 10 is 32-bit. Newer AArch64 (ARMv8) CPUs, due 2013, will be 64-bit.

Only if the device was shut down improperly. At low load times and during a proper shutdown it would dump any changes to non-volatile memory. There are plenty of operating systems that can function from RAM and maintain persistence.

228GB Note II Mod by XDA User

So Some guy on this forum modded his Note II so it can have a bigger battery and have 228GB of Storage.
I have sooo many questions, how is his phone managin that much space, why does he need that much space, is the root system included in that 228GB, etc etc etc

Lol, no way I'd do it.
However, I'm curious about the weight of that thing.
With that much bulk it is no longer pocketable IMO. As such, for the price of the phone + mods you can probably get another device that suits your needs better (whatever they may be). I can't for the life of me imagine a practical use for such a modded Note 2.

It's only as thick as the zerolemon extended battery, maybe has a slight bulge on the back because of the sd card, but plenty of people on dad (including myself) use the zerolemon battery on a daily basis and I have no problem with it fitting in my pockets.

Exynos vs snapdragon. Which one to buy

I am going to get the Note 3 in a few days. I like its hardware, the display, size and battery. But i hate touchwiz. So i will be installing cm11 asap. For this reason, is snapdragon model better than exynos? In India i can get exynos from anywhere but s800 is available only on ebay. Please advice what should I go for? Thanks in advance

one has 4G (SD800) other only has 3G(exynos) -- Depends what you want out of it tbh.
I need only 2g. But i need good custom rom support, especially cm. For that which one is better and by how much margin. I read that exynos source codes are never released.

This ^^ N9005 has the better support for custom ROMs.. However CM will by the looks of it have decent support on the N900 + the N9005
I had the Note 2 exynos version earlier. I had bad battery life on it after installing cm rom. Can the scenario be different on snapdragon viz a viz the battery life. I think the rom can be well customised only if hardware codes are not restricted.

It is possible yes, but @stanley08 has got crazy battery life on his exynos Note and I myself get very good battery on the Snapdragon model, it is mainly user dependant with battery. - a lot of people have issues on both variants.

i would suggest the N9005 as it seems to be the more future proof device since it comes with 4k Video recording & playback capability & i think games like GT Racing 2 runs a little better thanks to the Adreno 330.....compared to a friend who has the Exynos version..felt a little laggy to me...

How much is your ram usage under normal circumstances? Please vote.

I today i got my galaxy note 2 i think i phone is using much romes compare 2 normal it is using 75 % ramJust curious as to how much ram is free for most people while idle. Use Android System Info, Widgetsoid, or something similar to observe ram after the device has been idle throughout the day. I'm not interested in people's attempts to maximize this number; I just want to know what it is, on average, without the use of task killers .

My phone's been on today after fresh 100% charge for several hours, screen on for about 45 mins.
Am continually surprised by people' concern over RAM usage, to the point of creating thread about it. I know the basics of Android mem usage and using available RAM is desirable for smooth operation of your phone.
A few posts above mine someone highlighted the message confirming such. Take it to heart, I suggest if ur phone used 85% and above regularly THEN be worried. Otherwise ignore it and enjoy.
Maybe off topic, but how do we know the percentage, we have to calculate it? And what does "how much ram" mean? FREE RAM, USED RAM? You should have formulated your question better

ofcourse used ram
and no need to calculate % just use clean master to clean ram and junk files. and also find out how much ram usage:good:
With Hurricane 8.0 the usage of RAM amount at about 1.0 gb when there aren't opened apps.. while when i open some apps it goes to 1.3 - 1.4 gb and i have about 250-300 mb of free RAM...

make free RAM space

What is the best way to make free RAM space. Looks 2/2.77GB is used for me using/running only Lollipop. Does the OS using that all? Thinking to clear all bloatwares if somebody could tell me what is all safe to clear. Thanks
Free RAM is wasted RAM...
Do you have any problems with multitasking, app reloading etc.? If not, let Android take care of the usage and ignore the RAM bar.
I am coming from the S3 with 1GB RAM, where 500Mb were constantly in use. Frequent app reloads included.
Now that I have the Note 4, I can switch as much as I want without reloads. I'm loving it! My RAM is currently 2.4/2.7 GB in use, but who cares

Note 4 is pretty awful at multitasking, although it works, because there is no RAM, free or not, to multitask with.
You need free Ram so that when you load a new app, an old one isn't destroyed.
Wish people wouldn't regurgitate silly quotes that aren't true.

Go to application manager / running .
Find apps which you dont use but they running in background (messengers, music players some other) and shut them down manually. Some will restart but some won't. Find offensive apps and check if you can turn them off - not all of them can be turned off in application manager. That can be achieved on not rooted device. If you rooted you can use many applications to freeze and prevent offensive apps from automatic start

For the most part (on smart phones running android) that saying is very true. Free ram is wasted ram. So it's not a regurgitation as one guy said...and almost every developer here would likely agree to that saying
