I think you've got it wrong.
It has up to 32 GB of internal storage. Only 2GB RAM.

The reason is that XDA have incorrectly typed up 32 GB of RAM instead of 32 GB of ROM while stated ROM is 2 GB
Guys, if you look at the Nexus 10 landing page, you will see that it is incorrectly listed as that... hilarious but incorrect.
Can a mod change it please?
Cheers

I don't know why you'd be upset if it did have 32GB of RAM. You could load the whole OS and all apps and data into RAM at boot and have a blazing fast system! Sure, boot and shutdown would be slow but I think the performance boost would be pretty significant.

Android is multiarch, but the ARMv7 chipset in Nexus 10 is 32-bit. Newer AArch64 (ARMv8) CPUs, due 2013, will be 64-bit.

Only if the device was shut down improperly. At low load times and during a proper shutdown it would dump any changes to non-volatile memory. There are plenty of operating systems that can function from RAM and maintain persistence.

[Memory] Deal of the Day - 32GB Class 10 for $39

It is the deal of the day on Amazon. A nice treat I woke up to (supposedly $79 off normal price).
I do not need more memory, but perhaps some of you do?

Lexar's not bad.
I saw this, too. But if you're trying to save money check the Amazon link below.

A class 10 will always blow out a class 4 when performance is involved (manufacturer branding aside of course). I have had a 32gb c10 for about a year now and love it. Before I had a 16gb c6 which was way better than the garbage that phones come with as stock.
Here is a nice little app that I use from time to time to check my r/w speeds. Pretty accurate for an in-phone-sdcard speed reader. Best tests are done on PC but this one is close.
Class most certainly makes a difference. That said, 32GB cl 4 for $30 is also a great deal. I'd step up to Cl 10 for another $10 though.
Wow awesome price! Noobb question would the vibrant support it? If so im ordering it now

Yes. I am rocking a 32gb right now with about 200cds, 4 movies and a bunch of other stuff and only have 14gb used, plus that extra 9gb I have free on the internal.
Seriously with +/-16gb internal and a 32gb sdcard, that is almost 50gb of storage. Remember when PCs had 30gb hd drives and that was huge?
^ Another MAJOR reason why I am SO glad to have the Vibrant back. The GS4G only had a 1GB internal... wooptie doo for the next generation Vibrant.
I can recall my first mp3 player with 256MB space. Ouch.

How long it takes your phone to scan the card on booting/mounting?
I had a 16GB class 6 it worked fine on reading/writing, but everytime phone took long time on scanning, so switched back to 8GB class 6, much faster on scanning
Maybe 2 minutes max. With strategic .nomedia files it only scans what I want it too.

[All Carriers] Internal Storage Partitioning

EDIT (2012-06-27):Great news! Android Central was wrong and internal storage does not appear to be partitioned! Although it's strange that it's not closer to 28GB. Thanks to aznmode for posting the first screenshot in another thread.

To those of you with the 16GB phone in hand, could you post a screenshot of the Storage screen? Androidcentral's review of the 32GB model says that the 32GB is partitioned into 12GB of "phone storage" (for apps) and 12GB of "internal sd". I was all set with getting the 32GB version, but this has now given me pause. Can it be re-partitioned to be one single large partition for apps? If not, I would just go for the 16GB version (assuming it has similar amount of space for apps) and spend the $50-saved on a 32GB MicroSD card.
Yea it is a buzz kill on 32g it saves 12 to USB storage and 12 to internal sd card im getting the 16 gb
Any chance the Dev's will come up with something that will allow us to change this?

I would think so. The guys in the Nook Tablet forum provided a way to repartition that thing from it's miniscule 1GB of user space.
12 + 12 = 24. Where is that last 8GB? O/S reserved space or something?

I think so too, but if it is, then the 16GB crowd will only have 8GB divided between apps and data (before adding a micro SDHC card), that blows.
Totally sucks on the 32gb version which I switched to and ended up waiting longer for. I do hope there is a way to repartition them to one.
This is where I'm at now. Just a few essential apps and a few pics. Haven't put me sd card in yet

Thanks tkemack! Seems like without re-partitioning, both 16GB-models and 32GB-models will run out of app space at the same time. That's assuming that Android Central really does have the 32GB version...

I was expecting the 32GB version to have 28GB (12GB+16GB) in a single partition. There's really no reason not to have exactly 16GB more than the 16GB-model. I guess we'll see next week when people get the 32GB-model in hand. Hopefully someone will post a screenshot in this thread.

I'm hoping the website is wrong as I see no point to partitioning it. Isn't the GNex on Sprint 32GB? Maybe someone who has one of those can shed some light on if theirs is partitioned.
is this something we errrrrrr (the devs) can change ?
This makes me glad I got the 16gb! I was having a hard time deciding, but I figured I could just throw in a 32gb sd card if I start to run out of space. I doubt I'll actually use 16gb just for apps.

[Q] Ram

I was wondering why my nexus 10 only shows around 1.6 gigs of ram this shows with the widget I use and also under setting>apps>running the total is again around 1.6 gig. Is some of the ram reserved for the JVM or similar?

Pre-4.2.2, out of the 2GB, 400MB was reserved for the GPU. 4.2.2 gives an additional 380 or so MB to the GPU (totaling close to 800MB reserved for the GPU) in order to prevent userspace RAM fragmentation.
Thanks for the info

Basically it means when the gpu needs more it doesnt take away from userland aka launcher apps etc. Instead they reserved an extra 400mb for the gpu to help with performance on the crazy hifh resolution

15 tabs open is considered excessive on a laptop and low end desktops. Let alone a tablet. As is the case though when it was allowed to rob from the userspace RAM is it was fragmenting it.. Which in a lot of cases probably left you with less usable RAM then you get now.
Fragmented RAM = There is free RAM but because it isnt a contiguous block the OS can't use it. It's sits there completely wasted until x-y-z happens.
Two great pictures showing what fragmented memory is and why it's a problem. These are about Netware servers but the same principles apply.. Fragmentation = Bad and a waste of space.
External Fragmentation
Internal Fragmentation

I usually keep at least 25 tabs open in my first gen i5 laptop without problems (I have 6gbs of RAM though).
And damn that sucks, but would the the unusable RAM ever reach 400mbs?

That I can't answer.. I just would be illogically guessing at that point.
Yeah, extra RAM helps on the PC end of things with browser tabs.. It can start bogging down on the CPU though with ads, flash, and scripts running. My ADD can't deal with more then 4 tabs at once.. I'd go nuts with 25.
I would also suggest a lighterweight browser. I use lightning browser mostly. And chrome beta only when a page doesn't render something properly in lightning.

Guys, till you have Free ram available it is all good. The Free ram is just sitting idle and doing nothing, you paid the price for RAM, make it work
If something needs more ram then what is available, OS memory management will take care of it. So sit relax and push the phone to it's limits.

Free RAM is wasted RAM. Just use it all up and when an app needs some RAM android itself will flush some apps you haven't used in ages to compensate for it via set adj and oom values.

About the claming 2GB ram of the Samsung Galaxy S5

Hi folks!
pretty new to the forum and for now I am not knowing much about the android. But here got some basic question that hinders my daily use of my cellphone:
The device I am using is samsung Galaxy S 5, and the model is G9008v, for those you know is the version with the China Mobile carrier.
SO, the ram is claimed to be 2GB, right?
bUT WHEN I am using it, the available ram is only about the 300mbs....
Here I've attached the ram status so that I could get some help. As you could see here only THREE programs ar erunning but the total ram is 1.6GB and there are 1.3 GB taken, For no use?

The System uses the rest of the RAM, Android is a RAM hog
With nothing else running, I get about 600MB free
Check your PC task manager, with no programs running, Windows uses about 1.5GB RAM, similar reason with Android

If u want more ram, then use XtreStoLite 2.2 rom, which is extremely lightweight, i managed to free up ram upto 1.2 GB (Wow), tweaking like Freezeing, greenify etc. now Free Ram is ALWAYS more than .90GB when not using any app, even after hours of use
only downside is that, its 5.0 lollipop not 5.1
but for me Multi tasking is more important to me than android version
Good Luck
