I feel pretty good about that review... as discussed in one of the other forums on here... it "appears" as though the lagginess is in the Samsung apps that I will probably not take advantage of anyway. That's not to say that it should perform well out of the gate, but honest, if it only pertains to an application for now, I'm okay with that...
That's my .02 cents..

keep in mind this is the snapdragon version

Wait a second, does the tablet he review have the quad-core 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC? If so it seems like it's zippy and fast unlike the previous non-video reviews with the exynos processor. I thought the qualcomm was only available for the LTE edition.

So he says in the video but are they actually sending out the LTE version to the press/testers?

I believe the reviewer is mistaken. This is the Wifi version which only comes in the Octa Core configuration. This is definitely not the LTE version because you'll notice that there is no SIM card slot mentioned in the video at all. The full specs are displayed on the Phone Arena website below.

Pretty sure its the Octa version and the reviewer is just clueless. Even in their written review they don't mention a sim slot.

He got the specs completely wrong this is the Exynos version. The best part about the video is the beginning when he's on screen and moving the tablet around it looks very responsive! Lol

I agree that it is probably the Exynos and they are mistaken, but the link you posted with the specs from phonearena says it is a 2.3 ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800.

Nice find with the SIM card slot missing in the video. I think there is some confusion considering it's coming out with two different CPUs. Just from reading about tablets for a while I can say there are inaccuracies all over the place all the time until the unit has been out for a while. The HP slatebook X2 had inaccuracies all over the place for example.
Thanks OP for posting the video it was very informative and performance looked really good to me! :good:

Good catch on that, it seemed pretty solid to me, and the "lagginess" that is being commented on by other reviewers, well perhaps I am not seeing it or its not as big of a concern to me. I was on teetering against it but this video review put me back on getting it.

I don not understand why Samsung is pushing the Exynos on the WiFi version when we would benefit from it being one consistent model.

[CLOSED/G2] G2 vs mytouch HD

after reading the processor specs on the mytouch HD (dual core 1ghz) im thinking the g2's processor is already long in the tooth and it hasnt even been released yet!
What do you guys think?
Also, wtf does the g2 look like in the back, I have yet to see any pics of its rear. whats so secret about it, I hope theyre hiding something big.
I really wanted to early adopt the g2 on day 1, but after hearing about the processor the mytouch HD will be packing, I may just wait. For a while..... I want something thatll keep me happy for a year that packs a qwerty
Check engadget for the pics of the back. I cant post the links because im new And im not sure how current/accurate that leak is. All of Qualcomm dual core processors were delayed. Wont see them in phones until next yr. Supposedly the MTHD is to be released in Nov. Something isnt right. We will soon find out

i looked there and at gizmodo and cant find any rear pics.
your right something isnt right at all, in a few months the hd3 will be released with a dual core as well. im starting to think that the mytouch hd and hd3 are packing dual core tegra 2 processors. to my knowledge, those processors have been ready to be dropped into devices for a while now. The dual core arms and quallcomms arnt ready if i recall.
Go to engadget. Click on the latest article about the G2. Click the G2 tag and click the article that says "T-Mobile G2 again, this time with less Mr. Blurrycam." I need to rank up so i can post links lol
i sifted through the internets and found out that the mytouch hd is indeed running on the tegra2 processor. the processor is a soc with 2 A9 cores; each at 1ghz.
in regards to the hd3, im reading that its a dual core 1.5ghz, and that its a single core 1.5ghz.... still alot of speculation. regardless.... its gonna be an interesting 4th quarter.
if the mytouch hd wasnt so ugly id look past the fact that it was missing a keyboard.

it appears to be a brushed aluminum rear with maybe a noise cancellation microphone.

wait, where did you see this?
The MyTouch HD is made by HTC which mostly use Qualcomm chipsets. That article is very fishy. That whole dual processor thing is missleading, it could mean anything. In fact the G2 is a "dual processer" phone. The G2 has a cpu and gpu. I say just wait and see, this just don't seem right.
P.S. I have not read anywhere that has stated it is a tegra 2 chipset, pls provide link!

Yea read that too, that just that authors opinion, there is no evidence to back up his statements. If I had to guess the Mytouch HD will use a 1 ghz version of the G2 chipset since its technically a "dual processor" chipset too.
I'm skeptical of this. 1st of all, the mytouch was never a high-end brand. so it seems strange to me that they would all of the sudden use that brand as one of the first ever dual-core phones. 2nd of all, I don't see HTC moving away from qualcomm just yet, but I could be wrong. and lastly, there's something weird about that leaked TMO promo. the writing seems very amateurish to me. but thats all speculation on my part.
Keyword "dual processor" not dual "core" processor. There's a difference. Dual processor is what the G2 and Galaxy S feature; a separate unit for the CPU and GPU. Qualcomm does not make 1Ghz dual core chips.
Also, think about this. Why would T Mobile put a state of the art dual core processor in their teenage MyTouch line, but not in their business power house G2 with "The Google Experience"?
People are threatening to not purchase the G2, or ultimately leave T Mobile for their reluctancy to release a powerful business phone.

Isn't the snap dragon a dual core as well?! As in seperate CPU n gpu?

wow you are speaking logic and truth. i see things in a differant light also
http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/08/qualcomm-1-5ghz-dual-core-snapdragon-devices-to-arrive-at-end-o/
dual-cores aren't coming this year unfortunately..and I'm pretty sure that when they land, it'll be for phones without QWERTY. I think manufacturers milk the market with touch-only phones with latest tech, before releasing the more 'professional' QWERTY equipped phones. Just look at the time it took for HTC to release another QWERTY android.
So in my books, it's either G-2 or Milestone 2 at this point in time....of course, we'll have to wait for HTC's announcement on the 15th Sept. and hope that they shed some more information!

Ive read most all the Reviews..this is extraordinary!

Besides that Galaxy Note is quite future-proof in terms of connectivity. Samsung Galaxy Note allows you to embrace 4G LTE with transfer rate up to 21Mbps, should your country has it.

This part is misleading though, in the Note's current form (with 1.4Ghz Exynos Samsung made chip) it does NOT support 4G/LTE. Only when it gets a Qualcomm chip (which is slower than the Exynos will it support 4G/LTE.
Loaded with the Qualcomm Snapdragon chip is likely what will be coming to AT&T and others in the US.
Question is, the Note has been noted to have some lag under certain conditions, so where it is present will that lag increase with the Qualcomm since it is a slower chip? And do you want a slower chip just to gain the ability to use 4G/LTE? One would have to decide for themselves considering of course such factors as...is 4G/LTE even available where they are and is it something they would just HAVE to have considering wifi and 3G in many cases are just fine.
Also, will the upcoming 1.5 Exynos support 4G/LTE and become available anytime soon in the Note.
For me, I want the Exynos in my Note, so within the next few weeks (barring some earth shattering revelation regarding a new, unlocked version I might have to wait a month for) it will be mine, then you all can tell me how to grow roots and do mods and such things.
Now that these phones have reached such heights of technology (not to mention...price) they should really make it like a computer where (at least for awhile) we can purchase and install ourselves a new CPU but I won't hold my breath.
Ordered mine this morning the white one on ipmart
I hardly decide between the nexus or the note and the note wins
With ICS it would be awesome
Hope I can put my hands on it next week

Yes. You are right. I have said this before in one of your videos & I will say it again... Your review has got to be the most honest, detailed & comprehensive report on this phone anywhere on the Internet.
Hell, NZ's review may be the best review about any phone on the Internet. Really stellar stuff and I am looking forward to his take on the Galaxy Nexus.
And speaking of NZ, that was one hell of a cricket win today.

Access denied trying to view that page. I also like the jump. I feel like the atrix 2 was a major let down, it also didnt get a lot of attention from the carrier and marketing wise, hopefully the 3 is much improved.
And it should have an FP scanner as well
I don't know if I really should buy something from MOTO again.
But I never ever buy an Android phone without testing it.
Things like 1080p playback, USB stability, stability in general and of course an open bootloader are more important for me than great hardware specs.
I want more stability!
Use the fuc...... hardware this time!
But the Atrix 3 looks really well.
Hope that MOTO learned from their stupid decisions...

Nice, Tegra 3 is the future.
I was disapointed to not see Tegra in the Atrix 2, thought Moto gave up on nvidia.

Color me skeptical. The photos look like someone took an Atrix 4G and slapped some crude signs next to them. Notice that there's nothing on the display itself, just a blank screen. It may be legit, but like the article said, it could be a fake, so I'm not putting any stock in it until there's confirmation.
This phone is worth getting if our amazing devs move to it. But spec wise looks promising

Its too late for me. A Sony phone or galaxy s3 for me. The unlocked bootloaders from the beginning attracts all kinds and a lot of devs. Plus Samsung encourages custom ROMS. They're getting to be a better OEM since the galaxy s2 line. Shoot, there's an ICS ROM leak for a couple of American galaxy s2 phones as we speak! When is some of Motorola's phone's update? Q3...

What the hell am I going to do with 2GB of ram and a quad core cpu on my phone ?
Render 3D animations? LOL
Linux, anyone?
Motorola Atrix 4G AT&T unlocked
I would love 2GB of RAM and more internal memory than the regular Atrix(32GB instead of 16GB).
I don't really care that much if its a quad-core and dual-core because the software barely takes advantage of the dual core processor if they are going to go with quad-cores now then make the processors take advantage of software for once with apps and video games as well as being able to play HD videos of different formats.
I would settle for a nice dual core 1.5-1.7 Ghz processor that is battery efficient

exactly why I plan on keeping my phone for a long time.
it's fake . i Thing the gonna build razor 2 or droid 5 with better qwerty
"It's shopped, I can tell by the pixels" . Though I did have my doubts by look since it looks a similar shape of our atrix, but with the hardware buttons blacked out and the logo flipped to the bottom. If it is true (slim chance), I think the 2 gigs of ram would be overkill for most users, save power users and linux folks. Well we shall see in time I guess.
That sucks! I was really looking forward to that phone if it was real! That would have been a monster of a battery in the thing. Week long use anyone?

Where did you read this?
There is no _way_ Samsung would sell a CPU or upgraded mainboard separately for an existing product. What would the incentive be for users to buy the next model phone?
It would also necessitate a different build of the OS.
The chipset is not user replaceable!
Totally absurd If you ask me!
Quad-core Note 2 on the other hand, more likely...

Where do you read this. Are you talking out the side of your head or engadget.
That article mentioned something about manufactors being able to connect the new chip with the dual core chip because the chips are pin to pin to reduce cost.
Lol this is funny.

intruda119 is correct, it's on factory basis this info is meant.
You can in theory, install the new chip on existing designes, but most likely, you need to change other things as well, to make full use of the power within the new SOC.
Brilliant, instead of like, Intel, that every new CPU they release you need to look up a new motherboard....ugh...
i don't remember where did i read it but yesterday my friend told me the same thing and i though while not so sure as i am not that knowledgeable in the technical term but i know that the 2 chipsets are based on the cortex-9.
i think samsung would make a very wise decision by doing this it will give an more amazing image when it is thinking that far for the costumers. i dont think any one that have a note with its beautiful big screen will get the SG3 because of the smaller screen and the next note is not coming untill 6 months in my opinion and when it arrive they could make it with a new design and better screen and the same chipset and it will sell big time.
this is my opinion i knowed once i posted this many people will say it is stupid but i want to know if it technically possible. because i am trying to choose between the one x and the galaxy note. i will not wait for the SG3 because it needs more than a month to arrive in my country and i need a bigger screen that 4.0 inch. this is my first android device and i would like it to last for as long as possible.
practically you can replace but the problem will be with the software side....
could samsung work on the software
guys i am just bringing a topic of discussion. i am a noob in android. i have been using nokia for many years started from the baby nokia till the n97.
It's totally impossible. Yes, the 32nm quad is pin compatible with the 32nm dual Exynos, however the Note has the 45nm Exynos so it's not compatible at all.
Sent from my superior GT-N7000 using Tapatalk
Its funny because my wanna be techy coworker just walked up to me and mentioned this. I dont think the thought is dumb or anything. But wouldnt be a smart move for samsung.
I wouldnt think it would be as easy as legos. Pretty sure theres some type of difficult soldering involved.
Would be nice but companies make most money off incrementel updates and gimmicks. Thx apple for the blueprint.

AnandTech benchmarks Zenfone2

Its good that this phone is compared with high-end phones such as Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. Although by no means a winner, kudos to the phone at least getting into these realms.
Agreeing to most of its users, the review rightly considers Camera to be a let down.
