i think you have to wait for a stable app which doesnt have a problem with exynos 5420.
but come on what do you want to do with 3.0 Ghz processor
it is very unnecessary and "if it is even possible" it would just drain your battery, it won't give you a supersonic performance.

You would need a kernel with oc support and there aren't any out yet. You will just have to wait

Just give it a few weeks until the kernels get into the devs hands.
Samsung did release open source kernels for the note 3 but it seems not all models yet.
Edit: Nvm it seems they did release the kernels for all in another article.

Doesn't matter, Samsung's source is always so dated and hacked up its almost unusable. Hell in the Note 2 source you had to add the touch screen drivers. They *forgot* them.

still have custom kernels available like on my note 2 oc'ed to 1.9ghz. Might be a pain in the ass but atleast we got them. I think your a dev though so im not going to argue with your opinion, you might know a little more than me

rofl the phone already runs hot if you're doing anything that requires most of the current stock processor speed...overclocking is a bad idea

You could say that I am. And yes, a few kernels run the note 2 up to 1.9 and 2.0. I personally run my own compiled kernel from the devil kernel's source. With a few editions of my own
Give it time. It will come, however 3.0 is not even reasonable. If we see an OC, you're probably looking like 2.5 at the max.

I would never say 3 is possible. Also I would not see a need to oc at the moment when is already smooth. More effective would be custom rom

having played around with many Samsung phones, I've always seen them get about 30 to 40 percent higher frequencies, hence why my Droid Charge was able to be overclocked to 1.3 gigahertz, and the Galaxy Note 2 was able to get over clocked to 2 gigahertz. we will probably see 2.8 has the highest stable

I don't think there is a way - yet. THEY need some more time poking around the insides of the Tab to get to that.
That said - why would you? I haven't found any lag on the Tab whatsoever? What's so slow you'd need to overclock it?
Short answer - poke around the kernel to set an oc.
But leave it to the devs as its easy to screw up.
And its probably just for the sake of it

know if you already have a solution for overclocking tab in the galaxy?
Is there a solution yet? It seems every other hardware can be overcloked except the Galaxy Tab. Im using SetCPU and it maxes at stock 1000MHz.
Any hopes for real overclocking?
I've read somewhere that overclocking works differently for the galaxy tab, it slows down the cpu when no program is heavily using it. The good thing is you extend the battery.

It's actually extremely easy to overclock. I have a kernel working for CDMA running 1.2 Ghz, I will work on a GSM kernel soon.

Does your kernel run on Sprint or VZW? If VZW, I'd love to test/give feedback if you'd be willing to share it.

someone ran it on a vzw tab and said it worked just fine w/ no problems. it was in the thread that had the sprint kernel to over clock the tab. for an alpha build it works pretty dang good.

Evo Shift Merge?

From what I know, the Shift is the Sprint Version of the HTC Merge(or the other way around). And, since there is no Merge forum I could find, I came here. Is it possible to oc the device to 1ghz? Or, is it like the G2, where 800mhz is enough? Also, does it happen to have 512 mb of ram and a ffc? If so, Im dumping my droid 2 for the merge(unlocked bootloader ftw!)
Sent from my DROID2 using XDA Premium App
you can overclock to 1.51 ghz with it rooted and it is very smooth and very fast i can say i had many applications in back ground and still managed to go on the web and it was very quick still and play games with no problem very smooth.
The shift can be oc to 1.8 my friend and the g2 can do 2.1
No ffc tho sorry
He's asking about the Merge, guys. It SHOULD be very similar to the Shift, but nobody knows for absolute certain until they can get their hands on it. For the record, the 800 Mhz processor did everything i asked of it and then some at stock speed, I only overclock it because I can

^ This is correct info. The shift is quite speedy without the overclocking. Most of us just do it because of battery life with the different kernels, and because our geek friends wil think it's cool.

Anyone got their hands on an HTC Merge yet? Mines definitely great at 800 MHz, and there is nothing i have come across where i felt more clock speed would've been better, and that too on stock rom. This includes some of the heaviest games graphics-wise available on the market. But since its still not officially out, Im still running it on stock as I have no idea how to root it and load custom recovery. As soon as we get custom recovery on this it is a given the performance will increase a lot with custom roms.

Well its actually not inaccurate. Mainstream media is inaccurate. Yes it isn't exactly related to anything here context-wise but its still good to get the word out, in whatever small way I can.

I wish it was inaccurate to be honest. Our media does try to brainwash us into thinking otherwise though. But yeah off topic haha.
well i did it, because the merge/shift doesnt play nice with games and pandora together, so right now setcpu and 1.51 make heaven!

Overclock kernals

Hey I saw in development that we finally have w custom kernal but it didn't say anything about being able to be ocd so I was wondering if there was another kernal floating around that would allow overclocking.

I don't think we will be getting overclocking kernels until we have the source, or until an experienced kernel builder can combine our 2.1 source with the fascinate's 2.2 source....
Or cant you just download setcpu to overclock?
Sent via Carrier Pigeon
Setcpu doesn't overclock unless the kernel allows it to which neither of these (DL17 or EC03) allow... i believe it does however allow you to change the cpu scaling but I think that's broken in galaxy s devices xP
But seriously.... we have arguably one of the finest processers on the market that is fast as hell so I'm kinda with Imnuts on this one...
I don't see the point of trying to overclock this thing
Sent from my SCH-I400 using XDA Premium App
ive gotten set cpu to work, but it goes up to the normal 1ghz the good thing is you can undervolt and set governors if you want to save your battery.

Wow, if that happens, you better enlarge that "Donate to Me" button!
You're freaking awesome. All your work for this phone has made it usable for those who bought it expecting to have support for a year or more after it's release.

[kernel] gingerbread sense WANTED will donate to make happen.

Recently htc released the source code to make it possible for gingerbread sense kernels. I am trying to push the development community by offering a small donation to push it to happen. I would also like to extend this help with other xda members that would help donate to make it happen. So if you want this to happen post here stating you'll donate to the developer that makes it happen first.

Even more that you and Nils were denied recognized developer status which is such a shame. I would be happy to help moderate in any forum, but the DInc and Eris forums are my home. I ran Synergy for a while.... loved the ROM... but yeah, I'm one of the few who actually uses the multitouch (play a ton of Genesis and GBA on my phone). GPU + made a huge difference for 3d graphics framerates, smartass was a noticeable increase in battery life. On my custom Froyo ROM with incredikernel, the phone is rock solid stable, fast, smooth, everything works, and I can go WEEKS without a freeze, lock up, reboot, battery pull, etc.....
I don't feel like I'm missing out THAT badly, but, yeah once a custom kernel that does all that comes out, Synergy ROM here I come.

space?
space is not a problem, a slim cm12 rom like SlimCM could have enough free space, and moving all posible apps to SD would help to, and ART would be good for a second life to our phone.
But, about the hardware limitations, there is maybe some way to use the 3.4 drivers with 3.10 kernels? And, I ask, did the 3.4 kernel initially support our devices?

KitKat was already developed for low end devices, as it only needs 512 MB RAM and has a low graphics mode. But Lollipop needs more process power for its animations and other new features. I know it's sad, but we all knew that this journey would come to an end one day.
But that's just my two cents, maybe someone will port L and it works good [emoji6]

We've had a good run though. Our galaxy S has had some incredible support from A LOT of incredible devs. In fact were still getting new ROMs and updates now even after all the years our phones have been about. I don't think that L will run smoothly, but most likely we will see L hitting our phones, and maybe some dev will find a way of getting this to run well on our phones. Devs seem to love a challenge. It's thanks to such great devs that I'm still using my S1 as my daily driver after 4 years even after changing phones once, not liking the upgrade, and coming back.
