I've replaced the camera of my i9505 since it was broken.
But the camera will not focus.
Focus seems ok at very short distances, (up to 1 feet maybe)
Do I need to upgrade the firmware of the camera after the replacement?
If so, how can this be achieved?
The phone runs XXUDMH8

I would say yes, FW on new camera might not be the same as the old one, and needs to be fix.
As for the how, i got no clue, i could only think reflashing ROM; but im sure someone here knows how to.
yes, I really hope someone knows.
Anyone?

Hi,
I've had the Nexus 10 for a few weeks now and since the 4.2.2 upgrade I'm finding it much more stable.
Only question I have is regarding the front camera, if I look at the settings it states it as 1.3mp, this was the same before the upgrade also.
Has there been a hardware change? or does the os just states it as 1.3 but is actually 1.9mp.
Many Thanks.

The camera is 1.9mp. It's an erorr of the os. I think that you can guess the hardware can't be changed unless you do it...

Thanks, I guessed this was the case. I wasn't sure if Google / Samsung had changed the hardware specs.
Many Thanks.

Firmware could easily change what the hardware can do. A test might be to take a picture and then check what resolution the picture is in, and see if it matches either 1.9MP or 1.3MP (I think this would work anyway)
Nexus 10 front Camera low resolution
The same to me. Got this Nexus 10 and wondered about the poor quality of the front facing camera.
I own the Nexus 4 (1,3MP), Nexus 7 (1,2MP) and now the Nexus 10 (1,9MP).
On all devices the resolution of the front facing camera is 1280x960 (1,22MP).
On all 3 devices the highes resolution setting is 1,3MP. Why the different specs?
I asked the Google Play customer support and they answered that It's because a wrong value in the memory where the resolution is stored. I should make a reset to the factory settings and it's done. http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/confused.gif I'm in doubt...
I found this issue on my clean system, flashed 2 days ago with the factory image 4.2.2.
Does anybody can take photos with higher resolution than 1280x960?
Thank you!
(Sorry for bad English)

What I really meant is that you can't change hardware via software. I mean, it's obvious. It's a piece of the tablet, it's like if suddenly from an exynos 5250, we have a exynos 5540. That's impossible.
I have just noticed that my N10 has this same issue, whether it is a result of forcing the tablet to find the 4.2.2 upgrade as opposed to waiting for it to find it itself. Hmm
Hi guys,
bought a i9500 china version here in shanghai 2 days ago and the back camera has issues. Auto focusing is pretty much non existent in indoor situations, and even when I do tap to focus multiple times to get it right, the picture turns out like it has a radial blur filter on it where the tapped area would be somewhat in focus while the rest of the image would get a gradient blur as it spreads from the focus point. Macro shots seem to be ok and doesn't have this gradient blur.
Stock chinese firmware brand new phone. Rooted and unrooted has the same issue. Anyone else experiencing this? is this firmware problem or hardware defect? Does the S4 just have a ****ty camera? Pretty disapointing for a $600+ phone...

You might try making sure your firmware/camera firmware is up to date.

how do i update the camera firmware? i have the latest phone firmware
Hello,
it might be asked a lot of times, but I, personally, cant find any info on how to improve Samsung Galaxy S4's camera.
I updated my S4 from 4.2.2 to 4.3 (and regret it deeply) and found that fantastic picture quality from 4.2.2 version is poor at best with 4.3.
I tried to change ISO, picture quality to 13 and then to 9.6 MP, update camera firmware but the picture quality is still poor.
I would like to go back to 4.2.2 version but because of KNOX Warranty I'm a bit scared (still have 1.5 years of varranty).
So I would like you to ask you all for help - is it possible to get picture quality to 4.2.2 version's or maybe somehow get 4.2.2 version's camera app. I don't know, my knowledge is very limited when it comes to Android stuff.
Hope you can help me.
Sincerely,
a new member
U cant come back to 4.2.2 without void the warranty
What do you mean by poor quality? I'm on 4.3 and i've realised a lot of my pics are blurry, i just assumed i've not been holding the camera still when taking pictures but it's happening quite often. When i think about it, i don't remember it happening when i first got the phone.
edit: Here's a good example of a recent pic that has come out partially blurry, this doesn't happen on every photo and it's rarely blurry across the whole thing, notice how the image is much sharper near the bottom, and how bad it looks towards the top. I'm sure this is a software problem.

Would different camera software solve this problem (or at least help me troubleshoot?) or is this something that needs to be fixed with an updated kernel?
Hello guys. I was planing on buying galaxy s5 until i headed that the camera mostly doesn't take pictures with focus. I went to a shop and tried it myself. only 1/3 of all pictures were focused. few weeks ago i went to another store and the phone managed to take all the pictures with focus. Im confused, because camera is one of the main things i need in a phone. Has this problem been fixed or is it still on even on the newest devices?

Did you see if it was running on 4.4.2 or 4.4.4?
There is a bug on 4.4.4 with the camera.

I see, thanks. so its a bug found just on 4.4.4.? Its fixed in 5.0?
Well about a year ago I been abroad for few months working in the USA (I'm from Europe). I found on ebay a good deal for a new S10+ USA version unlocked (G975U1) so I bought it.
Now: this S10+ camera never impressed me to be honest. I don't know why if that's because the s10+ camera isn't actually THAT good (even tho in reviews everybody said that it was great etc) or if it is just a problem with my device, since I did not have the chance to confront my S10+ with another one so I don't know if the problem is just my phone or just S10+ camera being kinda crappy.
Now since I'm getting tired of having a ~1k phone with a camera that can be easily beat by a much lower price range phone and I also feel like software updates have worsened the camera's performance (I remember it used to be better before than it is now) I'm trying to install a GCam port and compare it with stock camera to see if there is any noticeable difference. The problem is that I cannot find any working gcam port for SM-G975U1, all of them crash at start. I've managed to get only 1 app to work but it was so unstable that in the end I just deleted it.
Anyone wishing to help me out? thx
Can you post some photos just to understand better?
out of focus? give it a tap once in awhile,Digital aperture camera sometime it got stuck.
