Camera out of focus fixed or not? - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys. I was planing on buying galaxy s5 until i headed that the camera mostly doesn't take pictures with focus. I went to a shop and tried it myself. only 1/3 of all pictures were focused. few weeks ago i went to another store and the phone managed to take all the pictures with focus. Im confused, because camera is one of the main things i need in a phone. Has this problem been fixed or is it still on even on the newest devices?

Did you see if it was running on 4.4.2 or 4.4.4?
There is a bug on 4.4.4 with the camera.

[Q] Focus problems after camera replacement

I've replaced the camera of my i9505 since it was broken.
But the camera will not focus.
Focus seems ok at very short distances, (up to 1 feet maybe)
Do I need to upgrade the firmware of the camera after the replacement?
If so, how can this be achieved?
The phone runs XXUDMH8

I would say yes, FW on new camera might not be the same as the old one, and needs to be fix.
As for the how, i got no clue, i could only think reflashing ROM; but im sure someone here knows how to.
yes, I really hope someone knows.
Anyone?

Rear Camera focus issue

Hi guys,
bought a i9500 china version here in shanghai 2 days ago and the back camera has issues. Auto focusing is pretty much non existent in indoor situations, and even when I do tap to focus multiple times to get it right, the picture turns out like it has a radial blur filter on it where the tapped area would be somewhat in focus while the rest of the image would get a gradient blur as it spreads from the focus point. Macro shots seem to be ok and doesn't have this gradient blur.
Stock chinese firmware brand new phone. Rooted and unrooted has the same issue. Anyone else experiencing this? is this firmware problem or hardware defect? Does the S4 just have a ****ty camera? Pretty disapointing for a $600+ phone...

Camera and slow autofocus - LG support not aware of the problem

Hi everyone!
I've had my LG G2 for a week now and I'm mostly pleased about it - except for the camera's slow autofocus. It often takes 3-4 seconds from pressing the shooter to actually taking the photo. Only exception is in full daylight where the camera is good.
My old galaxy S3 is lightyears faster than this. I've contacted LG support and the told me to uninstall all other camera apps, force stop the lg camera app, clear data and try again, when that didn't work they had me do a hard reset which didn't help either. Finally they told me to return the phone for a servicecheck but I'm quite sure it's a software-issue. Plus the phone is rooted and they probably won't like that
How many others are having these problems and can someone confirm they have a G2 that doesn't take up 3-4 seconds to focus when not in complete daylight?
Cheers,
Peter

In the Development forum, Jishnu has a camera mod that improves things. He also said an update just went out in India that speeds up the camera launch and focusing, so maybe that will come out soon.

So you're saying using an app with 8MP changes the phones ability to autofocus? I've tried the nexus 5 camera - same result. Which app are you using?
Resolution should only matter in regards to how fast the camera is at storing the picture after the picture is taken (and the G2 is plenty fast).

Hey whittikins - that's great news!! I don't mind waiting for an update...just as long as it's coming
I've actually already tried the mod, but it didn't make a difference - I guess it's maybe mostly for shooting video and not still pictures?
Thanks,
Peter

I'm just going to say he meant a real camera... This phone is 13MP anyhow. And, you are right.
+1 same problems here, slow autofocus and too long obturation time making blurry photos of moving subjects (child, eyes,....)
I also come from a galaxy s3 and for sure there is a difference....
I had a chat discuss with french lg team, saying to use flash........
the guy says to try other camera app from play store but he was pretty sure this will not help...
They did not give any reason to hope....
The mod 2.5.3 mentionned might help....but need root,
Furthermore conclusion is not that clear that it helps for indoor pictures of moving subjects...
LG is aware of the issue. They have said a software update will fix it. Customer service probably isn't allowed to acknowledge it.

I hope you're right! it would be nice with an official announcement although that'd probably be considered bad publicity

Image quality degrades after capturing picture?

Hey people, how are you all doing? I too got a Galaxy Note III about a month ago and after a lot of experiences, I thought of asking for some advice.
When i use the camera app, the image looks clear and fantastic on the screen but as soon as I click capture, the saved image isn't what I see while capturing. I made sure I don't move the phone while capturing and tried it in different environments as well but the same continues.
I haven't rooted the phone yet and made sure that no app installed on the phones messes with the camera. So, any solution for the problem?
Thanks!

[Q] Install back some original Samsung Apps to CM12

Hello guys, I have installed a CM12 nightly build into my Galaxy Note 3 [hlte] and everything is fine.
But I was wondering, is it possible to bring back some of the original apps (like the Camera or S Note) which i had with the original Samsung firmware?
Thanks

It would be nice - I think a lot of us CM users would like the Sammy camera back. But unless there's a Dev out there who wants to spend a lot of time, you either have those apps or a really slick phone.
hi may i ask what are the bugs in cm12 that youre using? i wanna flash it too but m afraid of major bugs. and no you cant have TW firmware ori apps on CM.

Actually I haven't discovered any bugs yet. Everything seems working fine, wifi, bluetooth, wifi hotspot, 3G, sd card...
how about the pictures taken by the camera quality? volume sounds low?

Pics seem fine although some have lamented the 'night mode' lack. All resolutions available.
Sound seems pretty normal but I use Viper4 anyway - the missus gets upset if I go to the pub and don't hear her messages arrive. So I use Viper to boost the sound. Can't have SWMBO getting mad...

Pictures are the same as with the original firmware, volume is high.

I'm a little curious as to what you expect to learn from a pic? It's not going to tell you much unless you know precisely the conditions it was taken in and how good the photographer actually is.
e.g. attached is one of mine, but what does it tell you about the actual camera app? Temasek's CM12.1
Thanks for doing that for me. Basically from my previous device a note 2 running on cm the image quality of the picture after you snap it its still just not the quality you sèe on the stock firmware. no matter how you took it low lights or bright under the sun you will still able to see it blurry. Me i use my note 3 camera quite frequently so i need the images to be as clear as what the stock gives. Hope you get what i mean haha

Yes... in that pic I tapped on the label as I am selling the pump and wanted that part clear as possible. I've found any blurriness is me, not the phone. I wouldn't mind a cam app that lets me change ISO and as well as shutter time though...
I think one issue with any cam app is the shutter sound doesn't match WHEN it takes the snap, so to get clear shots we have to hold for longer than the actual shot time... or use burst shot and pick the best image.
