So I got a brand new MT4G last week, and today T-Mobile sent me a new one since the front-facing camera on the original did not work.
How can I switch all of my contacts/apps/settings/music/sms/etc. to my new MT4G?

Any free options?
MyBackup is like a 30 day trial of the pro version so if you only need to do it once I recommend that. I tell customers to use it all the time for device replacements. Other then that titanium if you are rooted.

Awesome, thanks... I'm downloading the trial now. Does it just save all of that to the SD card and I put it back onto the new phone? Or do I have to redownload the app on my new phone?
Between Titanium and MyBackup, I recommend the latter because it's much more simple and easy to use.

You'll have to re-download the app in order to restore the backups made on your previous phone.
Apps and contacts will transfer automatically once you sign in to your google account on your new mt4g. Pictures are stored in your memory card. So all you have to do is swap the memory card from one mt4g to the new one.
And why would you want to transfer text messages? Delete them. They take up space.

Tis' true, it saves all the info to your SD card and then you swap over the SD card to the new phone redownload the app and click restore. It will find the orginal back up on its own. Doing pictures is redundent though if you are keeping the same SD card from the old to new phone as the will auto transfer.

Because some people like to keep them. I always back up my texts before a wipe.
Not all apps will not be backed up because they are not associated with your Google account (only paid apps are).

I just did this and it won't let me...
It says "In this version you can only restore/view/manage what you have backed up from this device. To restore/view/manage backups from other devices, please upgrade to the Pro version."
Dang. Trying to determine if its worth paying the 5 dollars for. I have a good amount of contacts, which are linked to there twitters and facebooks, all my pages are fully customized, and I have a ton of apps. It will be such a pain in the but to do all of this manually.

It's more than worth it in my opinion. You only have to purchase it once, yet from then on you'll have the ability to back up and save whatever you want.
So I used Backup Pro to switch my contacts over, and besides the contacts I had it added the contacts of every single Facebook and Twitter account I was friends with or followed... I deleted the contacts for which I had no numbers for (300+). I then noticed that when I went to link the contacts I did have to there Facebook or Twitter accounts they were not there, I guess because I deleted them from my contacts?
Anyone know how to make it so I can link them again? The contacts are also classified as "Google" instead of "T-Mobile" like they were be for, which is kind of annoying.

This is not true. All my apps are free except xda app and rom manager. I've done plenty of factory resets and they all always come back after I log in my account.

I've been wiping and flashing custom ROMs on Android phones for years, and never once have any apps been backed up after re-signing back into my Google account. It's the exact same way for almost everyone else. If you're going to tell me I'm flat out wrong, maybe you could provide some info like what settings you use?

Settings I use are simple. One that came with the device. Have everything saved to google checked. I've never backed up anything with any back up app. Everything is backed up to google with me.
I factory reset my device when I first flashed cm7, when flashing iced glacier, going back to cm from ice glacier, going to royal glacier and back to cm and to honey and back to cm. Every single time my contacts and all my apps came back. Except one or 2 apps that I didn't download off the market but 3rd party.

System settings do not get backed up. I have to set my settings again.

Isn't there an option you can check when first signing into your Google account called something like "backup/restore Google settings..."? Way back when CM4 was the latest and geatest, Cyanogen said not to check that box because it could cause problems of kind, so I never have. If you have that checked, that may explain why your apps are returning. It's just weird that your apps come back automatically, when it doesn't seem to happen to hardly anyone else (that's why apps like MyBackup and Titanium exist in the first place).
Hi guys. We are in times of crazy rom updates, and when you update making a wipe, one of the big problems is you lose the icons order in the app list. I don't mean to icons in the home/launcher else icons in the general list of apps.
I know how to save the home icons and widgets disposition but is there any way to save/backup the order of the app list? I don't like alphabetical order or things like that, i personalize myself and is a pain in the ass do it every time i do i wipe to upgrade a rom.
I have been searching in the forums but didn't find anything.
Thanks
please anybody?
This would be amazing!
But in the meantime I normally screenshot every page before updating and save then onto the pc then I copy the order, it's not great but it works for now

Yep, but the order has to be saved in some system file, it must be there. It's annoying no one knows what file is :-(

the icon order and page layouts are stored in the app data of TwLauncher. you can backup its data with titaniumbackup and restore it later on. but be adviced that there might be side effects when restoring the data of an older rom in a new one.

i guess you need to restore it after you restored all apps. if you restore the apps later on, their position won't be the same. at least i don't recall any problems with the applist order on my phone, and i make heavy use of folders.

I think it does, because when I wipe TwLauncher data the icon layout is lost and when I restore it they are where I put them. Maybe if TwLauncher is different between the roms it does not work? Anyway, the layout must be somewhere in the appdata, I think it is in the launcher.db file (/data/data/com.sec.android.app.twlauncher/databases/launcher.db), you can view it with Root Explorer's internal SQL viewer -> menu_item
Good luck!

Hmm... this seems strange. I've done the exact same thing and haven't lost my folders and icon order through three rom updates. Just make sure you backup the data of "TwLauncher" in Titanium before you flash. On restore make sure you only restore data for TwLauncher and as heldchen said restore all your apps first.
P.S.: Just to be on the safe side: you do mean the order of the icons in the app drawer and not something else?
Ever since I flashed froyo on my phone I have had problems with my weather ticker. It hasn't been updating/refreshing like it should. Also when I click the icon on my ticker it no longer opens weather bug anyone know why?
If your running ec07. Try the GPS fix.

Well, It wasn't working when I used EC03, and yesterday I switched to EC07. Still isn't working. I'm hesitant to try the GPS Fix because it's a shot in the dark if it would work and it's going to take a quite a bit of time for me to figure out ADB.
Any other suggestions? :/
Copy and paste GPS. Conf with root explorer in folder that the adb command says in post. Then reboot. Make sure to mount r/w in folder pasting to. (Button on top in root explr)

Ah thank you. I copied the gsp.config over, lets see if it works....
EDIT: Nope, a no go on the weather ticker. I can't even open it.
Are you on a stock ROM or one of the manymodded ROMs? the only reason it wouldn't open would be if someone deleted the app or if your ticker is forever "locked"which I have seen before....
Sent from my SCH-I400 using xda premium
I'm using Nuckins ROM. I don't think the ticker is locked, because I can still open my Text messages via the ticker bar. Just the weather thingymabobber won't come up, and the only way I can refresh it is by manually going into the weather ticker settings and clicking Refresh. It doesn't even seem to refresh automatically every 3 hours, like it is set to do.
I'm not sure if Nuckin's ROM has deleted the app or not, but if it has how can I get it back? ALSO... Before this ROM I was using THIS http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1203597 ROM by pastorbennett and the weather ticker OPENED but wasn't updating with it.
I know at one point on an older flash I was using TI and deleted some essential apps for the entire ticker section without knowing it. They're have very vague names. Reflashing would definitely fix the issue, if that's something you're willing to do.
Reflashing what? I've already experimented with 2 different ROMS. First time I had EC03/pastorbennetts ROM and this time I have EC07/Nuckin's ROM.... problems with both and the weather ticker. However, slightly different problems. With EC03 I could open the weatherbug app by clicking on the weather icon, but I couldn't refresh it not even manually. This time, with EC07 I can refresh it manually but that's about it. I can't open the Weatherbug app and I don't think it's refreshing on its own either. (Although it could be, I'm just having a hard time telling since I can't open the APP and see what time it updated.)
Plus, I've reflashed both of those more than once with the same issue.
EDIT: Unless you mean to reflash stock, then flash the ROM?
EDIT2: I think I've already reflashed stop after this anyway....
EDIT3: Well, I tried to manually go into my applications and open Weatherbug and it's giving a Force Close Error. >.< I uninstalled it, and reinstalled it, same issue.
Best advice I could give is to go into <2e> then open CwM (red seems to work nicely) wipe cache wipe data factory reset then reflash the EC07_clean! This ROM fixed most problems for me and its a simple quick flash. Then you can update to whatever ROM you've been wanting to use. The entire ticker-stuffs has worked flawlessly for me on the EC07 clean so I recommend that. It was a problem I was having too since rooting my i400.
Okay so now that my phone is unbricked, haha... I'm having my lovely WB ticker problem again. Except this time, the program opens when I click the ticker BUT I can't refresh it manually with the refresh icon. Any idea why or how it can be fixed? lol
Funny, I just started having the problem where the ticker icon doesn't open the app.

Anyone have any other suggestions? I assume thee is no way to have the ticker use another app either?
I can very easily, (well... Pretty easily, haha.... ) make the ticker use another app, haha...
I am debloating my phone using Root Explorer and I'm looking to remove a few more apps but I cannot distinguish by name which ones they are in /system. Anyone know the name of the apks of the 'Email' and 'IM' apps as well as the 'Data Usage' widget apk?
There are two email programs on the phone to start, one is the corporate email, which is just email.apk, the other is the 'regular' email app which is socialhub.apk.
I would recommend not removing anything to do with IM, Talk, or basically any Google services, some of them are required for basic phone operations, and removing them caused me alot of trouble when I first started messing with the 'insides' of this phone and didn't know what I was doing.
I don't know what 'Data Usage' is called, but it is one of the Verizon apps; I think it may be part of 'My Verizon' app.
Above all that, if you are still on a Rom with .odex files, I would recommend flashing a deodexed Rom first (there are many available that are already plenty debloated, Nuckin and EC07 clean are both good starting points), and then if you feel more debloating is necessary, go from there.
I think you're right about the data widget being a part of myverizon.apk. And yes, I've already removed email.apk (corporate email) so you're right there also.
As for deodexed ROMS, I've used every custom ROM ever created for this phone and run into issues with gps not locking when doing so. Therefore, I stick with stock DL17. Even stock EC03 and EC07 give me gps issues.

Anyone know if any issues arise after removing the Nuance app?

Yes and no. When you remove it you will get a constant/repeating FC error. When that happens just pull the battery (the FC repeats so fast, that there is no other way to turn the phone off) and reboot and everything should be fine.
At least that was my experience when I removed it using TiB.
Btw, yes I've tried the gps fix. It doesn't do anything.

Hey guys,
I've been searching around, but I can't find a clearcut fix, so maybe someone here has some insight. Recently I started noticing that random pictures started dissapearing from my gallery, seemingly (but not 100% sure) after the kitkat update on my Note 3. Before I also saw some pics dissapear (a couple I downloaded) but I didn't put much thought into it.
Now, after the update, I was sarting to notice more pictures have dissapeared. The thing is, if I go into whatsapp, select a convo and click on media I actually see the pictures and all, but in the gallery in the "whatsapp images", and in "all images" album they are nowhere to be found. I tried for a solution on google, but to no avail except rescanning the media. Usually that would be taking the sd card out and put it back in to rescan the card, but it refuses. The weird thing is that every app in the store that deals with rescans imediatly Force closes when starting the scan. I mean all of them, and I installed about 10. I have no cfw's or roms running so I can't figure out what the issue is.
Obviously I tried resetting, rebooting and all the usual stuffs.
ANy help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Dylan
