hi, i have a galaxy note 2 currently running 4.1.1 and a friend of mine downgraded it from 4.1.2 and it didnt work properly so he reflashed it to at&t (originally telus) and then reflashed it back to telus. He was attempting to unlock it. Ever since then, whenever i open messages and attempt to type, the keyboard doesnt appear. there is nothing that appears at the bottom where the keyboard should be. its just black and its definitely not in pen mode. When i usually start the phone up, it says "unfortunately, Snote has stopped working". and then when i attempt to open the app for Snote, it says there isn't enough space. When i go to enter my wifi password on the other hand, the keyboard appears. please help as soon as possible. thanks.
Note 3 here...

Granted you're in the wrong forum, but with all the messing around you've done, I'd do a factory reset if I were you.

hi i tried to do factory reset then reflashed everything still no go..any other solution pls
Hi,
My S4 has been playing up lately. If you restart, it runs out of juice etc, you cannot turn it on. it just vibrates and stays off.
I've found that if I leave the battery out for over an hour - I can get into recovery. If I select "Clear Cache" it starts to do something, then I get the droid fallen over with a red exclamation mark and "Error!" underneath.
I've done a factory reset (from settings menu) - I don't really want to root, or mess about with recoveries as I am still inclined to just send it back to Samsung.
If anyone has any ideas on what I can do to try and fix the situation - I would be most grateful.
S4 GT-i9505 - Completely Stock - Sim unlocked BTU from launch-day.
Thanks in advance
Alex
I'd send it back and get it fixed or a new shiney one.
No-one knows how to fix this?
If you google 'stock clear cache error' seems it might be a common problem, would assume peeps here would know the root cause.

Return it. Not worth the hassle.

Hi,
I've encountered an annoying problem with my SM-N9005 (UK SIM unlocked - 02) running firmware XXUDMJ7 (not routed - no mods).
Periodically, the short press of the home key will not return me to the Touchwiz home screen. Long press of the home button will still bring up the task manager. When this problem occurs, long press no longer brings up the Device Options dialogue. A short press will blank the screen and holding the power button down will eventually reset the device.
Following a reboot, the device will work normally for a while until it reoccurs. I can't correlate this with a particular application being installed or used, and it occurs frequently enough to be seriously annoying.
I haven't yet done a factory reset as installing all apps will be a major waste of time. Has anyone encountered this problem and found a resolution?.
All tips or help gratefully recieved..
Regards,
Alex

No joy... overwrite with the same firmware doesn't change anything. I can't trace this to specific app to unintelligible (or not reinstall) without a few pointers.. any ideas?
Thanks,
Alex
I also have this exact problem and until I read this thread I had to keep pulling the battery every day or so to reset. At least I know I can hold the power button to reset now!
It usually starts when Com.phone.android crashes after ending a call but has also happened when the youtube app hangs. Sometimes the only way to make the screen come back on when this happens is to plug the charger in when it goes into this buggy state.
Any ideas would be great as this is annoying
Same problem here on the device of my girlfriend today. Never had this on mine (both phones snapdragon version).
Thinking of exchanging it.
Happened to me yesterday. No idea what triggered it. A reboot made the problem go away.
Maybe it's a coincidence, but my internal storage was beginning to run out due to a weird problem with the Samsung index service creating huge files for no apparent reason.

It's happened to me as well and I I'm stock not rooted. It didn't happen with my first device. But has happened with this second one. I've had freezing, crashing, blank home screen, power menu not coming up, screen not locking and few more issues. This phone on both my first and second have been so buggy I've thought about another phone altogether. So glad it's not just me. Tired of constantly monitoring RAM and closing out apps. I haven't even installed all my normal apps due to so many problems. My S3 was 10 times more stable than this phone. Note 2 definitely never had this many issues.

I'm running a MJ6 stock ROM with MJ4 baseband. It's a Three UK branded one. Unrooted.
I had quite a lot of apps installed at the time. I also had a couple of Home screen replacement apps, namely Apex Launcher and Nova Launcher, and also Toddler Lock. I enabled Nova Launcher to see if it was a problem with the TouchWiz Home app, but the home button still wouldn't work.
In addition, I couldn't get the power menu to appear. I unusually prefer to do a soft reboot via the menu whenever I can, but on this occasion had to do a hard reboot by holding the power button.
I wonder if this is related to that old Sleep of Death (SOD) issue that other Samsung phones have had. That's happened to me on at least one occasion with with phone.
I'm guessing this is firmware related. I would happily try a custom ROM to see if it solve change anything rather than bombard Samsung with tech support requests, but since they've introduced this Knox nonsense, I have fewer options to try and fix things myself. Perhaps if everyone on XDA were to adopt a policy of calling Samsung's helpdesk every time we experience a software problem, Samsung might find themselves so bogged down with issues that they would realise that allowing users to install custom ROMs probably saves them a fortune in tech support costs. (Sorry about the rant.)

Stock, Sprint MJ7. 2nd phone, last one had bad screen. The last 2 days the clock app stopped and the alarm didn't go off and then I had this behavior.
Go to settings/controls/auto adjust sensibility. Set it out and on. Problem is resolved.
I got a solution.
After a lot of beating around the bush, I called Samsung care. Explained them my inability to operate the Home Key short/single press to go to home screen. I was advised to back up the phone and do a factory reset. I did so and WOLA...... The single press on home key works now.
Has anyone else ran into S Pen issues? I started off like most with the rooted 4.4.2 (NC2), then went to the 1st or second issue of Rick's Rom. At first everything was going fine. Then one day my s pen stopped working. The phone doesn't register it at all. No air command when removing pen, no sounds, nothing. I did a factory reset, no good. I flashed back to the original 4.4.2 rom, re flashed the firmware, tried the hybrid NC2/NC4 firmware, nothing has worked. Now I'm on Hyperdrive with NC2 firmware. I thought maybe my S Pen was bad so I stopped by the Verizon store today. They were too busy to help me but I checked out the display model. It registered my pen just fine, so it is something with my phonw. Any ideas? I have TiBU Pro but nothing is currently frozen or removed. The only thing I haven't tried is flashing back to 4.3.

Past few days my pen has been giving me issues. A few weeks ago (not too long after taking the NC4 OTA) it didn't register the pen on the screen, but a reboot fixed it so I thought nothing of it. The past few days though, the phone is coming very close to going out the window I'm getting so aggravated. The thing is basically just a giant S4 now, if I didn't enjoy having the pen I'd go trade it for an S5.
Just for reference, I've never rooted the thing or ran custom roms. I got it in December and ran stock 4.3 until 4.4 was available OTA.
Took the OTA update at first and everything seemed fine until that first pen hiccup. In the past week, I have re-flashed NC4 from OTA once and Kies at least twice because my pen keeps "dying". I'm sitting here right now with the thing and it once again doesn't even detect when I remove the pen. I found clearing the cache helped when it was just not detecting it on the screen even after rebooting, but still saw me remove it from the phone, now that's not even helping. It doesn't register my deluxe s pen with the eraser either.
I've been searching all week for other's mentioning this issue, hoping there's a fix or it's a known NC4 bug, but this is the only mention of it I've come across.
EDIT:
Just found something interesting, the phone can detect the pen hovering above the screen. It seems to be registering it as a finger though because if you have Air View on, the pen only option for scrolling doesn't work.
I'm beginning to wonder if it's a hardware issue with the switch that detects when the pen is removed.
Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
Since I've gotten mine to start working again by performing cache wipes or resetting the phone to factory, I highly doubt it's a hardware issue. In my case anyways. Every time I would reset the phone to factory it would start working again, but not permanently.
In fact I did another cache wipe today, just because, and my pen is currently working again. I'm sure it won't be by tomorrow though. Something in the software has got to be bugging out, but I don't get any kind of crash notices or anything. It just stops working, that includes detecting if I remove/insert it.
I'll try another factory reset, although I doubt it will work for me. When I installed Baja ROM the other day it didn't work.

Well mine has started acting up again this weekend. Cache wipes are proving to be useless now too. I really regret upgrading to 4.4 now to say the least.
Still no luck with mine. I'm tempted to tear it down and mess with the switch.
Tried installing S Pen power saving widget from market and I get a message of "pen configuration file missing" when I try to run it.
Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
Mine was working again there for a little while, but just now stopped while I was in the middle of using it. When that happened, the screen wouldn't even respond to touch input. Home and power buttons worked, but nothing touch/pen/hover based. Once I turned the screen off and then back on, I had touch/hover input again but not pen. Even though the "pen out" icon on the status bar was there still, and went away when I put the pen back in the phone. Doing so did not make the pen work again though.
I can't believe we seem to be the only ones having pen issues since kitkat.
One other symptom, I downloaded the Air Command Shortcut. When I tap the command to draw a window and open an app (with my finger since it doesn't detect the pen being removed), I get a window of app choices instead of it letting me draw a window.
I just updated via kies 3 to 4.4.2. My phone has gotten to be incredibly slow. The screen is literally freezing every 3-5 seconds.
I have wiped the phone already once and issue is still there. It's freezing on every screen, settings, home screen. . I have not even linked my Gmail account so no apps there. Literally finished 2nd factory restore as I type and it's still lagging. This is basically unusable.

Have you tried a different launcher to see if that does it as well?
...
Mine does that from time to time. I boot into recovery and clear the cache files 2 or 3 times, then reboot. Mine did it the other morning trying to come out of sleep mode. It took 10-15 seconds for each touch to show on the lock screen.

Well it's not happening just in the launcher. It's everywhere. Browsing Web, photos, settings...
I may have found the problem to be the S view case. Has anyone else experienced such issue with theirs? I'm using a generic case from eBay. I took the case off and immediately the phones performance was back. And today I put the case back, and immediately it started lagging. I covered the metal terminal with paper and taped it to prevent it from activating and all is good.... Not sure if this is just a coincidence that it happened.... Will have to try out for a few more days. If not, it's going for repair.
