Google Play Tablet 101 and Tablet Spotlight Buttons keeps on disappearing on my N7.2 every now and then.
And I cannot get them back but only after a cold boot will they reappear.
However I think I have found a solution.
Menu - Settings - General - Account - Choose an account.
Select the Google account which you registered your N7.2 with and select OK.
Hope this will help others with similar experience.

Yes they are. As per screenshot attached.
I don't have any of those buttons. Did you enable Tablet UI in Paranoid Android or something?

Important question about Nexus 7 tablet UI?
I know there is a "mod" about density changes to make it look like a tablet but is it really like a tablet OS. I mean that does apps that are ment to tablets work on that like for example an app called Elisa viihde (it´s only for tablets).
I would like to buy nexus 7 but I want a "real tablet".
The Nexus 7 uses a new hybrid tablet UI, as you've probably noticed, the homescreen is larger and the notification bar does not take up the whole screen.
only 7" tablets are going to use this UI, and it's up to the app developers to tell the app to use the tablet UI or the phone UI.
For example, during the keynote, Google showed the Google+, Youtube, and Gmail apps.
Youtube loaded the phone version. Google+ and Gmail loaded the tablet version.
So most likely the developer has to add into his app to enable support for this new UI/Screen size to use the tablet UI. Otherwise it will probably default to the phone, and it's possible that tablet only apps won't work.
Maybe you'll get lucky and someone with an I/O version can test that app for you. Otherwise feel free to send me a message in a couple weeks when mine comes in and i'll test it for you.
If it doesn't work, you can always email the dev asking them to enable support for 7" JB and your device. And sometimes you can extract the APK and instal it and then it will work. People did that with Photoshop Touch and the NFL tablet app and got them to work on the galaxy nexus and galaxy note.
Okay thanks i'll see.
I have also thought about a transformer infinity...

I have not watched the keynote as of yet, but from all the reviews I have seen, the youtube app is all new and obviously not formatted for any smaller than an 7" screen

Yea I know about that density thing.
One thing to neok44 I just saw that you can't test that app unless you live in Finland and have that "account" which costs, but thanks anyways.
In Finland here I saw the nexus 7 appeared in one store as a preorder thing as a US version but it costs 450€ that makes me think do I really want that

Has anyone compared the Nexus 7 to the Galaxy Tab 7.7? The Tab 7.7 is just about the perfect density for me.
I played with a Toshiba Excite 7.7 and they have the density too high for me. (Widgets are huge on the screen and there isn't much screen real estate.) That was one of the few things I didn't like about the device.

You could have asked this in my thread , but yes when you change the dpi it causes the nexus 7 to support all tablet apps even the one you said. Changing the dpi isn't changing the looks it changes how the Nexus 7 operates. Theres some con in this with a changed dpi, apps that run specifically for the phone may not run on the Nexus 7 in tablet ui. If the Nexus 7 is in its original 7inchphablet ui it runs both phones apps and tablet apps pretty smoothly. This can be fixed on the tablet ui just by editing the market to recognize the nexus 7 in the more compatible dpi. I'll see if i can do this after work.

As an app dev, I know that the play store asks about what screens o
It an app can work on. And will only be available in the market for those screens. If you properly change your tablet to tablet UI, the market will know it is a tablet and offer you tablet apps.

Ok im sorry for the seemingly obvious question, but am i to understand that because of this in my opinion crazy decision to make this phablet UI, if i want it to work in the tablet UI mode i have to take my new tablet and lower the screens density, the exact density that is one of the main points that attracted me to it, is there no way to enable the UI without lowering the quality? This is irking me so much because im not a developer, no where near so im actually having to study this and put a bit of thought into this whole deal and the number of changes i will have to make upon recieving this tablet just to make it what i feel like it should have been to begin with are getting to be numerous. Thanks guys sorry for the rant
Hey all,
Simple questions about apps on the Nexus 7. I also have a Galaxy Tab 10.1 and have noticed that the same apps I am downloading on the Nexus 7 are different interfaces. Is the Nexus 7 using the phone version of apps? and is there a way to get the tablet version of the apps on the Nexus?
Thanks!
Hybrid. Some apps will use the tablet layout, like YouTube and Gmail, but others will use the phone layout. Thus why it has a hybrid home screen...

I somehow don't feel the need to see an extra pane showing me labels and all. On top of that I think it's killing the precious space. I just like the plain jane look with just the email list or the email details.
Is there a way to turn off the panels ? I would want to get the same look as what I had in my NOTE.
Can't believe that no one replied here.

Its because of the phablet UI, the app is the same on both devices so sideloading won't do a thing

Flash Paranoidandroid. You can change whether it shows in phone mode or tablet mode.
I have a Nexus 7, and I want to do video tutorials to show other people how to do certain things on the Nexus 7. I don't want to root, and I've tried doing the ADB/[email protected] thing on a Windows XP computer, then plugging my Nexus in. On the devices list, nothing shows up. Is there a better tutorial out there, or a better way to record screen? I'd really appreciate help. Thanks!
ATM screencast in the android market doesn't support the nexus line yet. If you have a digital camera you can use that. Your smart phone will work too.

Just found a solution
This isn't perfect, but it's the best thing I've found so far:
I can't post a link because I'm new here as a member, but search the Play store for MirrorOP Sender.
It's called MirrorOP Sender, and it pushes a video feed of the screen. Get MirrorOP Receiver for Windows or another android device and you can get the video feed there, and control the device from it. You could do a "proxy screen caster", perhaps, but not a direct one.
There are some apps int the market but none of them works on Tegra2 or Tegra3...
You can still give a try...

I'm not sure if this has been discussed or not on the forms here. This is kind of hard to explain..Whenever I'm browsing in the Play Store app on the N10, during a download the app itself flickers (almost like its refreshing) whenever the percentage moves during the downloading process. This has happened way before the updates to the Play Store app as well. I'm running CM 10.1 (Nightly) and the issue is still there. This was one of the first things I noticed when I was running stock too. I was kind of hoping that Play Store Version 4.0.26 fixed it but I guess not.
Has anybody noticed this issue? I highly doubt this a hardware related issue. Games seem to run awesome on it.
Any ideas?
- Brian
I have had the same issue since I got mine in December, running stock.
I've had this issue under JB 4.2 and ICS 4.0 on an Acer a500 and the Nexus N10, no fix found yet.
I get this too… it seems to me like a refresh issue, like the Play Store is trying to load up other images or something. Since no other app does this, I'm pretty sure it's just an app issue.
I've seen it on every rom, every version of the play Store... It may be the refresh for the download causing issues

Yes, because it makes scrolling through 'My Apps' a royal PITA. And sometimes, if its particularly fickle, it keeps returning to one single app over and over.
Thanks for the reply back guys. I didn't know if it was a hardware related or if its just a bug in the app itself. I see that version 4.0,27 got released today. Hopefully this will help!

Still flickers for me, but at least it doesn't reset to the top of the list every time it flickers now.
Same issue when I'm viewing all my apps during download. Since I can now scroll through my apps during download I don't worry about it much anymore.

When I'm updating multiple apps, it will keep refreshing the first one to the point that I can't click on the next app in line to be updated, because I want to see what the new update has added or changed.
I have the same issue (flickering shop) on my Nexus 7. I've noticed that it happens while downloading larger files, especially games. Sometimes it freezes Google Play completely.
So far I haven't noticed it on my Nexus 10. (But it has different version of Google Play, as far as I can tell).
The latest play store 4.xx resolved my flickers.

Yup, flashing, barely able to see what was going on be it downloading an app or copying a film from a flash drive. Installed AOPK and it is fixed, one solid moving bar as it ought to be.
Mine does this as well. I just leave the play store so I don't have to deal with it. Completely stock.
I get this with paranoid android, but had it before changing. It not only flickers, but when I'm downloading, say, Gmail, and go to another app while in the "My Apps" view, it will revert back to Gmail. Very annoying.
