I buy the phone for 300€ on tuesday, three days later it falls on the ground from around 1m, nothing else breaks but the LCD.
Overall a pretty good smartphone, recommended.
Unlucky as hell.
Yes it's really weak so that's why you need a case
There's no LCD display in the S3. Did the glass break or the amoled display panel itself?

Yes, completely intact. If it was the other way around (glass broken but amoled display intact), I'd bare with it since the digitizer would still probably work. But with a broken display, there is not much to do than repair it or buy a new phone (will probably repair it though).
Oh so the display AND digitiser? Wow. How'd you manage that?.... in what way is the display broken? If the digitiser is not working and display just won't turn on, more likely loose connection

No but at a guess it does not like being dropped on its edges .

I saw a stress test video before buying mine. It was dropped, used to hammer a nail, put in an oven, frozen and washed in a washing machine. The thing survived all of those tests with not a scratch on it.
|I left mine overnight with it's screen on the top side. My cats got to it and ruined the touchscreen -.-
Well, not really ruined, but they managed to scratch it in several places, and I really wanted it to stay pristine

There is an ant under my screen. I am not sure how it got there and I wasn't too happy when it stopped moving... I think it's dead.
Any advice on getting it out...
I already tried a vacuum cleaner, that didn't work.
I would open the device but I am not sure if there is adhesive between the lcd and glass panel.

Have you tried compressed air?
I believe that this bug is fixed in the ICS upgrade.
If you have any dead pixels, or any other hardware issues send it in for that and likely Samsung will remove the bug. I've used this app to check for dead pixels on my screen and have found a couple. Wasn't worth sending it in for a repair but if I had a bug in my screen I would. Good luck.
It finally happened I have a big dead area on my Atrix. I can no longer type the letters T, G or V. It's weird, in Multi Touch Tester when I put my finger there, it shows points on both sides of the column. It has rendered my Atrix nearly useless. I tried formatting everything and reloading a ROM in CWM and it is still busted. I guess this is the end. Sadly, I can't get a new phone for a few more days.
I'm really disappointed by this. I don't even know what new phone I would get....
Is it even worth replacing the digitizer? It was woring fine this morning, this happened after dinner. A sad, sad day indeed

Unfortunately I can't even use the phone in this state. Too much of the screen is hosed. I guess it's back to the 3GS (DOH!!!) and getting a new phone next week.
Not. Happy.

Just buy a new digitiser from eBay. Worked for me.
Sent from my MB860 using xda app-developers app
i have the same problem (again)
fist time i hat a part of the upper screen not working now its also the letters t,g,v that seem to be dead areas.
my guesses are that i had my device running under too much heat, as i stresstested it for some periode of time with 80+°C and the letters are near the area of the cpu which was causeing much heat. well now it's just some 30-40 bucks for a new digitizer and 15mins of work for replacement.
little tip: install a cm7-rom and enable 180° rotation so you can use ur phone even in portrait mode. if you have probs with lower screen area just rotate your device
If you get a new digitizer with the frame its pretty easy to fix yourself, not particularly expensive and you should be able to return it easily if it's faulty. Check ebay.

just replace broken screen, or send to service

This!
I tried with an "OEM" digitizer off eBay and it was faulty. Got an original used one off eBay with bezel attached in good Nick and it was much easier to fit and works like a charm.
One word of warning, remove the LCD before pushing the digitizer cable through the phone.
Same happened with me and that was after the repair shop tried three replacements lol.
I haven't heard of any problems with the ones with the bezels though!

I wish I knew this as well. It must be some sort of separation between the digitizer and the screen because wedging something between the battery and fingerprint reader can improve the touch sensor.

OK, I realise this may be nit-picking but I wanted to check if this is normal.
My screen doesnt look symetrical in the sense that one side has a black border between the screen and the black bezel (the right hand side) but the left hand side is flush against the black border/bezel.
I have attached the pics and would really appreciate someone to have a look at their N10 as a comparison :good:
Thanks in advance.

It shouldn't, but this is Samsung we're talking about. A number of users already confirmed that they're having the same issue on multiple threads. I'm guessing this is happening because of the S Pen slot. It shouldn't be doing that, but we're used to Samsung doing this.

Samsung, like any manufacturer has issues, I think you will find the QC at Samsung is among the best. I wonder too, is the first thing some people do when getting something is look for defects? I mean, yeah, if they pop up while using it, then you go from there, but I like to actually use and enjoy my device first
As for the issue, my right speaker grille does have a VERY TINY bit of play if you tap it, it's not noticeable in normal use and will NOT affect anything important. A user fixed it easily, so if it is bothersome, you can always do what he did.

You will never find perfection, not in anything made my the hands of man anyway. There is not one company out there that puts out 100% perfect products, not one.
It's the price of being an early adopter Computer manufacturers make all kinds of revisions, heck the early LCDs had ghosting. These days though almost everything feels like beta.
