OK, I realise this may be nit-picking but I wanted to check if this is normal.
My screen doesnt look symetrical in the sense that one side has a black border between the screen and the black bezel (the right hand side) but the left hand side is flush against the black border/bezel.
I have attached the pics and would really appreciate someone to have a look at their N10 as a comparison :good:
Thanks in advance.
On another note Im loving the N10 to the max!
Mine is symmetrical. Never thought about checking that.

Had a feeling about that ! My Gnex is symentrical and to be honest in the most weirdest way when I use the N10 it doesnt feel right like this..... !! ....I was also feeling like I was picking holes in it....but I am loving the N10.....
I really noticed it because it wasnt symetrical I guess....and I just noticed it.
Gona RMA this badboy...real sad to say it though !
Thanks for checking...much appreciated!

I checked mine too and it the screen fit exactly. I guess you must be missing some screen as it is below the bezel???

Probably misalignment, not missing screen

Ye that scenario would be fine......on my one my eyes are drawn to it depending on the app or what I am doing.
But ye, as someone said earlier it does look misaligned thats all but I think my eye prefers things that are symmetrical.
RMA time
Mine has it, but not nearly as noticeable as yours. I have yet to be plagued with any other issue though, and since mine is not very noticeable, I'm just gonna keep it.

My button has been recessed since I got it, no problems. It might Depend on which version you have, and what screen you actually have.

Ya know, never noticed that it is recessed... but it sure is. Could probably cut myself if I pressed hard enough but have no need to do so.
It shouldn't be pushed in on either screen. Looking at my DINC (only a week old) its perfectly flush with the screen.

Yep I'm in the same boat. Very nice though and no complaints about mine. Only slightly recessed on the inner circle, otherwise just about flush around the edges.
My trackpad is flush with the screen but I did have a refurb that the trackpad stuck out a little bit. For some reason I kind of liked it out a little more.
I never use my trackpad...I honestly don't know why they put one on there...

Just got my nexus 7 in today. It seems fine, although, I noticed that con the cleft side of the screen, it seems to be slightly raised in the middle. The corners attached fine. Are people sending out back for this? It doesn't seem like an issue, just an annoyance
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Sounds like it. Seems like it's always on the left side for some reason. It's lifts up over the bezel and you can push down on it and it lifts again later. That is how mine is... or was hopefully.
I heated it up with a game, then put a couple clamps on it, left it over night turned off, and today it has stayed down so far. Hope the adhesive that is suppose to hold the glass down sticks now.
I had a previous one though that was slightly different, it was raised on the left side, but I couldn't push it down. Seemed like a screw was tightened too far or something. I sent that one back.
Either deal with it or get a refund if it really bothers you. You can also try number of fixes that are posted on these forums. They pretty much all have this issue to some degree.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Yes this is it, but the real problem is if it makes a noise when you push on it. THATS the annoying part.
Mine doesn't make any noise, although it definitely is a tiny bit squishy and if you try and push hard on it, it does act a little like an LCD monitor. I just didn't care enough to try and return it, as I would have never noticed it if everyone hadn't had their panties up in a wad as much as they did. I figure the worst that happens is that it gets worse over the next year and I end up having to spend a whole $200 more on a newer model.
I agree. I can't imagine this truly hurting the experience. Oh well. Not a big deal as long as it works well

Are you guys serious? If I buy a product, it better not have defects. Why would anyone settle for bad quality? Products these days should not have any issues with the technology we have.
This doesn't make sense to me.

I agree, if it was a true issue I would get a new one. In my case, it is only raised in the middle, and not that noticeable. Everything else is fine. You can fix that too

Besides it shouldn't affect performance. I hope

When I got my second one from the play store, it looked like the middle of the left side was raised. I thought I pushed it down but it never came back up.
I keep looking at it and touching it but nothing. I don't know if I imagined it or maybe bad lighting.
Just install a TPU case where the lip overhangs the screen. Problem solved. Out of sight out of mind. I'm enjoying my N7.
If its a problem 6 months later then I'll call and exchange it. Big whoop.

I don't think that they all have this issue, only a select few. I have been lucky enough to get 4 Nexus 7's and no issues. I have seen the issue posted on the site several times though, and the fixes seem pretty easy. There are some youtube videos on fixing it too. Good luck fixing it mate, would take advantage of the warranty if I were you.

You can't understand how when someone holds their tablet by the left bezel and it creaks like a floor board, they'd like to return it? That perhaps when using the tablet as a book they don't want to be distracted by clicking noises?

I am not talking about a problem to that extreme, I am talking about, a very slight raise in the middle, with no squeak. The only thing that I can think of that could be bothersome about that is that when you push hard on the bezel, a little bit of the left screen ripples
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have exact the same problem as described. They most annoying part is they "cracking" sound it does when tapping on the left side. I curious whether the touchscreen responsivness issue is somehow related to this problem.
Btw I thought it might be related to the processor since its also on the left side, maybe the heat causes the glue to detach ... if you know what I mean.

Yeah, I dont think an rma is going to fix this. Don't squeeze it so hard... fixed.
Mine does it as well, so not knockin ya but. It has yet to be an issue in actual real life use. Sure you can sit there and pinch the thing, but just stop, and you'll never notice it again.
I am very OCD about my devices. Honestly, as long as I know that nothing is wrong with it in that category, I will be fine
I noticed the ripple on two of the three N7's I tried. While I think it probably SHOULDN'T be happening (i.e., it represents an underlying design and/or manufacturing flaw), I don't think it will cause any issues. Like the screen lift, it's one of those things where it's technically a defect, but it's not likely to cause any performance or other issues.
If I hadn't had other problems with mine, I'd have put the best N7 in a case and forgotten all about those two issues.
What were your other problems
My first one had pretty good screen seperation all along the left side, and pretty bad lightbleed from the left side.
My new one has barely any lift (just a 1 inch section, about a third the way up on the left side), but has the lcd ripple.
The screen seperation isn't even noticeable unless you lay it flat and look across the glass and this one feels solid, the first one was spongy.
I can handle the ripple, because it only happens when im messing with it, trying to make it happen.

Tried it on mine. I am kind of shocked at how hard it had to press to get it to ripple. I am hoping get that the op has a worse case than I do because if not this is crazy. I would never pinch that hard I every day use.

Did you ever clean the screen with ammonia products like Windex .This can cause issues with the coating .Other people have commented on dots being on the glass itself as well..

Does anyone else noticed the back of their Nexus 7 being ever so slightly curved? Not that this is something that would bother me, but when I place it on a table it is able to have just enough rock to it that swiping my finger with it or plugging a cable into it will pull the device in the direction of the tension.
(Moderators, I originally put this in Q&A, but since I realized it isn't so much a Q&A thread, I put it here in general. You can delete the Q&A one)
EDIT: Video comparison I just made - http://youtu.be/EhS7-KTwn4g
I believe it is designed that way so the speakers don't sit flat.

But it is down the vertical spine of the device, not the horizontal one. Plus the speaker grills are placed on the curve of the devices edge, so laying flat shouldn't be much of a problem anyway.
Not sure then. I just tried it with mine and I don't have that problem.

The back is indeed slightly curved... In the words of Will Graham, "this is by design"
Oh, I wasn't sure what you meant by that. I thought you meant if you pressed down on the top or bottom edge it would rock.

Best buy just refused to exchange it and wouldn't even try another device to see if it also did it, claiming it is a design choice (clearly she was on the ASUS/Google development team). Nor would they PM with the Staples coupon after the fact (but I can understand that one). She was just very rude and dismissive.
I just laid mine down on a marble counter. It sits flat. Only the edges are tapered for the speakers. Its pretty sturdy.

Yes! Somebody else notices. I was using my tablet in class today vertically and it kept turning horizontal. I noticed that the back isn't completely flat which is causing it to have movement when I lay it on a flat service.

Yeah, It might not be a huge "issue" (as the comment on my video says), but it is very annoying, especially considering I like to have the charger plugged in when I'm on it at times, and if there is any tension on the cord from where it is plugged in to where I am sitting, it will pull the tablet toward it.

I didn't really notice either until I had it plugged in and kept pulling away from me. Then I noticed it when I would swipe the screen. It really is annoying but I don't know how widespread the problem is and it is hard to gauge from the limited responses in this thread so far.
