I've never sim unlocked a phone before, is it possible to unlock the Atrix so I can use it on T-Mobiles edge network?

Everything is possible. But not this time.
Wait until the official Root procedure be published first. Then it may be a way to unlock the phone.
Or if you are lucky enough, then you may get the unlock code directly from AT&T.
Would they really give me the unlock code?

i'm tracking sites that will probably sell unlock codes at this thread:

So my provider (rogers) uses the same bands as ATT.... would the atrix work with 3g.... or would it still need to be unlocked, and is that possible yet?
Thx

I think it's true... considering that HTC themselves said so...
If it is would it be a big deal? I don't know how HTC phones work really, I've modded a evo once but that's it. I've been a Sammy user for 3 years.

Yup... Means no custom roms until someone finds an exploit.

That sucks. How long did it take for the one x? Also how long would it take for the one?

If I remember the AT&T one x had a bootloader unlock in a matter of weeks.

Well... A month the first time. Then they updated the firmware and that took about 5 months to crack... Still can't root the latest update... I'd be willing to bet we'll be waiting a long time. But hey, maybe this device will get popular.

Does this mean anything for the tmo version, or does no mention of it mean that tmo's will be bootloader unlockable?

Darn, I guess no more tethering to my tablet once I get my new phone??

lol, looks like you guys got the ol' bait and switch
I am hoping I get mine early so I can use HTCDev to unlock it before that gets disabled. I am not optimistic about it though.
It might already be locked out if att is shipping it.

It's still unlockable.

Don't know why people are suprised by this. They locked every htc in recent history and also the Dev version would be completely irrelevant if you could unlock the AT&T version.

I'm surprised because I didn't know that. As a samsung user I don't pay much attention to htc.

Now that the phone has been out for a weekend by AT&T, is there any definitive proof that the AT&T one can still unlock the bootloader via HTC dev post 4/19?
Has anyone attempted it? Or are people receiving retail units with the bootloader locked?
is there any difference between the two besides ours being boot locked and network locked?
what I'm really asking is if I get the i9505 can I use it on att and get all the compatible network bands?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using xda app-developers app
I don't think you'll get LTE with it though.

I've been trying to look into this, and I'm pretty šure that the i9505 doesn't have AT&T LTE band support =[ Good news is that the Tmobile variant will have support for AT&T LTE bands without a locked bootloader. I'm going to just buy an unlocked Tmobile variant and use it on AT&T to sidestep the whole bootloader garbage.
Just got a Xperia z on contract o2 to find the bootloader is locked even tho I asked them before I ordered it and they said yes I could unlock the bootloader but it says no. If I get a s4 on contract UK any network will I be able to unlock my bootloader? Or patch it UK thanks

Dan Rosenberg Has Unlocked AT&T Galaxy S4's Bootloader, I'm not update to with the s4 as I've always had Sony phones. so I thought it might be possible to unlock the bootloader of say o2 on a contract phone pay monthly. Wishful thinking I know but worth asking. Is the international s4 SIM free only Thanks

Hi,
If you are buying your phone from o2 UK,it will not have a locked bootloader.
You will be able to root it,flash ROMS to it,and even sim unlock it if you wish.
That's what I mean I'm not buying one SIM free right out but by paying monthly on a contract

I really want to sell my phone. I know I can get more money for it if us unlocked. Ive already googled how to unlock it and it seems pretty simple. My question is should I unlock it before its sold? Never unlocked a phone lol so sorry for this question.

Unlocked always adds a little bit more value to a device.
Why not?

I just got an ATT S4 I was planning to end my postpaid account with ATT and using prepaid.
I read in a forum somewhere that says you have a better chance of getting your non-iPhone device unlocked thru ATT international chat.
I tried numerous times with all my devices thru ATT unlocking to no avail. This time i tried the international chat just for the hell of it. Gave her my info and etc and what do know? It worked, she gave me instructions and the unlocked code. Another shocker is that this phone isn't even registered under my account.
