I know some of you were contacted by Giftiz and I was asked by other developers who saw the icon in my game about Giftiz too. If you never heard about it, it's an Android game discovery service where people are motivated to download your app to complete a mission and win real gifts. Sometimes this service is for free.
Here is my experience with giftiz, incl. graphs from play store:
Part one
Part two - after one month
Part two coming soon, after my "featuring" ends.
I never heard about this service. Thank you for sharing your experience. I will give it a try.
Thanks for sharing.
I have also integrated Giftiz in my Anroid game (Rock Ninja) and will get featured on October the 7th. I'll let you know how it goes.

I got 1700 downloads the first 3 days, it went down pretty fast after that once the active users did the mission. I estimate a total of 2.5k to 3k downloads coming from Giftiz but don't have the exact number yet.

For any who has tried this service and saw a spike in installs, how well was user retention? Also, how was working with them? Good, bad?

Read the second part of my article. By basically you are looking into a couple of thousands new users in 2-5 days who will very likely uninstall your game immediately after they finish the mission. Some of them will stay. Few hundreds. Depends on the quality of the game.

Hey,
My game is https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jessyleite.planetmushroom
Giftiz have gave me arround 3K downloads in few days. But there is a delay between sdk integration and apparition in Giftiz, ~ 20 days. My aim was to use Giftiz to increase my position in the top new free but with that delay, it was too late
Then, i think Giftiz's users decrease us rate, before, i had 4.5 with 50 reviews ~1000 downloads and now it's 3.65 with 110 reviews ~ 5000 downloads.
Sorry for my English.
Good continuation!

It is true and I also mentioned it in the article that the Giftiz players are very unhappy if your game prevents them to fulfill the mission. They are much less forgiving and they will rate your game with low marks without much hesitation.
Thank you guys about your infos, I'm integrating this service right now... let's hope for good!
Thanks for great sharing. Good to know about Giftiz advantage and disadvantage.

This application is a great resource for Google I/O 2010 Conference goers.
*Look at the schedule
*Look through detailed session info
*Look through info about companies in the Developer Sandbox
*Look at a conference map
*Take notes on sessions
Looks pretty interesting....

This app is perfect for people that are attending.
Posted in the wrong section....
Does it mention anything about what they are going to talk about at the event?
I don't have a use for this app, but I must say... it is one of the better UI's I have seen.
Just downloaded the app. Very impressive. Even has a section to take notes for every session. Man I wish I was going!
And just in case people are interested in checking out the keynotes:
[Streaming] Live, from Google I/O!
5/06/2010 12:00:00 PM
More than 4,000 developers will be joining us at Google I/O on May 19-20, and if we had the capacity, we’d host many more. In order to give the entire developer community a chance to participate live, we're happy to announce that both keynote presentations will be streamed live. To watch, just go to http://www.youtube.com/GoogleDevelopers at the start of the keynotes each day. We recommend watching on a high-speed connection for the best quality.
Here’s the schedule for the keynotes at I/O — it’s also available on our agenda page:
* Day 1 Keynote: Wednesday, May 19, 9:00 -10:30am PT
* Day 2 Keynote: Thursday, May 20, 8:30-10:00am PT

That's some crazy ass upload speed you have sir. As far as improvements, The updated base Android UI should be something to look forward to in itself. I am sure as well as numerous speed and stability tweaks and enchancements. Here i found this on the web..
Confirmed new features:
Support for WebM video playback
Improved copy–paste functionalities
Improved social networking features
Unconfirmed new features:
Android Market music store
Media streaming from PC library
Revamped UI
Support for bigger screens with up to Wide XGA (1366×768) resolution
New 3D Games support including new Marketplace area for gaming
Use of mksh for /system/bin/sh
Support for video calls
Support for WebP image files
Support for Google TV
If anyone esle has anything to add please feel free! I am curious to what else there may be...
Hehehe, thanks! That was on my office T1 connection.
as far as the improvements, those seem fairly decent. i didn't realize they were gonna do a UI refresh. time for some research!

Nope, not confusing anything. A T1 line is 1.544 megabits both down and up. His speedtest cap shows 61.19 megabits down and 47.3 megabits up.

Nah, that's looks about right for T1. Docsis 3 cable or a fiber optic connection could easily do speeds up in that range.

This gentleman speaks the truth.
T3/DS3 I'm sure they call it a t1 in his office because it is a Tier 1 network and they are ignorant (not calling them dumb or anything like that, just don't know any better, not meant to be an insult at all). Judging by the ping it is not docsis3 cable. Cable easily goes this fast finally, lol, but pings are much higher, 40's maybe.
oh yeah and on topic, WOOT for html5 video and images.
And woot for sense-like copying and pasting lol, not that we've been missing out.
Lol! you guys are all right. i'm thinking of our old connection. we just recently upgraded to a Cogent fiber line. My bad!

make counterstrike, world of warcraft, league of legends...diablo2? lol yeah. could only image 3ms latency on those.
... that speed test server is less than 50 mi away thats why his ping is 3 ms. they are prbly on a tier 2 connection thats why the ping is so low because it doesnt have to travel through 6 different dns pools to get to the speed test server

that was "back in the day." T1 is really just a name for a type of circuit. back then a T1 was 1.544Mbit, but these days they are faster.

When I test my speeds on speedtest (with the closest server), I get 120ms or so. And same ping on almost all COD servers.
So back on topic for a second when is gingerbread being released or at least the sdk
studies show that most computer errors are actually iD10t errors in over 90% of all cases.
So back to the topic, I been reading that we could see gingerbread as soon as Christmas. I just hope the update for the Evo won't be to far behind!! I'm also looking forward to Google releasing it's own OS without the other companies twiking the phones.

Re Fedex - what if the customs stop your package out of all, decide to open it, and then send you a bill for the customs fee? Such packages often spend extra 1-2 weeks at customs, and end up costing more to the recipients.
I have no info on the number of packages checked by the US customs though. I never ordered anything expensive from abroad. I bet the chances of customs intervention are very very low.

Looks very fast in that video, but in this video when its compared to the lg optimus 3d its dog slow, takes around 8 seconds to load the benchmark while the lg takes 1 second, could this be the dual channel memory advantage?

it could also be the pre-production model disadvantage. we will never know exactly what those pre prod models are doing and why they are so slow (relative to other dual cores PROD models). For sure Samsung has premature drivers on them, extra software that is logging everything for troubleshooting and performance follow up, etc. DO not even judge SGS2 by the pre prod models .

Lmao dual channel memory.. given that this LG has 512MB of RAM and that this "dual" thing means that it is cuted in two, there is not much left for it to shine vs the 1GB DDR2 RAM of the GSII...
it s just that it was a very early prototype of GSII, that's all story
Aren't they all prototypes? Even with paltry 512mb of ram that optimus 3d seems to load that game pretty quickly, almost too quickly you gotta admit that.
wow thank you for handtec link! I might actually buy it from there! thanks
Anyone here has any info on why there are not many reviews or hands on by any of the tech sites? We had more leaks and even reviews before the handset was released but even after 4 days of official announcement, there has not been much coverage about the device. Most of the tech sites only talk about the specs. That looks a little odd. Maybe there is some restriction on publishing reviews of the device till 13th?
Most likely the sites got their phones after the reveal on noonday, Androidcentral has got their unit and they were the ones who broke news about the GLONASS feature . Thus they need a couple of days to try it, probably under NDA until Google says so. They will probably time it with the delivery on the 13th or 17th or whenever it is supposed to launch they want to spread the hype over time to create mindshare and pick up some space in the news-cycle.

I read on a review site (forget where) that Google put a restriction that no official reviews can be published until this Friday... I think they want everyone to try the device for a longer period of time, which is better for us in the long run...

This is exactly why. If you read the Android Police teaser review, you'll notice he says he had to run somewhere in New York to pick up the review phone Google had. These are the phones they'd have handed out if the press event had happened as planned, but with Hurricane Sandy cancelling the event, things have been thrown a little off-track. I'm ok with that, too, because the reviewers will have more time with the phone and can give us a more in-depth review.
Patience...
