Hey I was just wondering as note 3 uses android 4.3 does it use android low power location services that allow you to run location services on your phone with very minimal battery drain?

My phone's dead so I can't give you the exact details, but there are some features on the map that runs all day.
- history - it tracks where you go every day and every second. turn it off so it doesn't detect your location every second.
- latitude - tracks your location and reports to our friends.
Just go through the settings and turn a lot of these sharing info off. I'd think you only want to use the map for the map and GPS feature anyways.
Will try this and report. This is my 2nd s4, return 1st due to overheating issue. I am very disappointed s4 so far.

This beast sucking battery like crazy. I previously owned note 2 and htc one are way better on battery life compare to this beast on idle.

My battery's been pretty good so far. And it doesn't matter how long the battery lasts, what matters is how much you've used your phone during that time, i.e. screen on time. Well for completeness, it's really a combination of the two. So what kind of screen on times are you getting for a full run?

Google maps is known for wakelocks. They need to fix this ASAP. We should leave reviews commenting on this. Tested through betterbatterystats
Weird you guys are having battery problems. I charged my phone till 100% and listened to music for 7 hours and then went to bed and this morning without any charging is at 52%. I have a lag thread in the general section that might help. Also in Google Maps Location Settings, turn off using GPS and just use mobile networks. Turn off bluetooth and wifi while not in use.
Should be fine from there.... (I don't even have power saver on or anything)....
Just like mediaserver wakelocks, it is not directly related to google maps, but could be one of your applications trying to use the GPS service through maps to find location causing the wake lock.
If you have Google Now enabled, that can drain your battery faster than if you have it off, because Now is constantly figuring out where you are and then reporting back to Google. This can cause even more drain if your cell signal is weak or if it can't get a GPS lock. Making sure Wi-Fi is on, even if you aren't connected to a Wi-Fi network, will make it easier for your device to locate you.
If you want to safe some battery, disable Google Now completely.
Additionally, here are all the Apps I have disabled on my device in order to save battery:
AT&T DriveMode
AT&T FamilyMap
AT&T Hot Spots
AT&T Locker
AT&T Messages
AT&T Navigator
AT&T Smart Wi-Fi
BlurbCheckout
ChatON
Flipboard
Group Play
Mobile TV
PageBuddyNotiSvc
POLARIS Office 5
S Health
S Memo
S Translator
S Voice
Samsung Apps
Samsung Link
Samsung Push Service
Samsung WatchON
Story Album
Synchronize
TripAdvisor
YPmobile
Your mileage will vary. Don't disable apps you may need/want to use.
I realize it's not a lot of actual CPU time that Google Services uses but it does keep the Note 3 awake, not the screen but the device itself. It's using 20% of my battery and keeps it awake about 16% of the time. One app or another has to be causing this as other devices I've used Google Services only accounted for about 2%. How's everyone else doing?

Remove g+ sync.
I turned off both wifi location and g+ sync but I have a feeling it's g+ sync because I hadn't noticed it was on and I usually leave wifi location on. I'll try to narrow it down. Thanks for the tips.
Edit: wifi location was the culprit. Not sure why it uses so much CPU time and wakelock on the Note3 and not on other devices. Actually I think it's all Samsung devices. My galaxy tab is the same way but not our Motorola phones. Same version of Android.

I have GSam battery monitor installed on my Note 3 (SM-900) running stock JB 4.3 (MK1) ....
Since a last few days I have witnessed battery drain on my phone without any apparent reason....I charge my phone to 100% at night (wifi & 3G data is off at night) & when I wake up after about 8 to 9 hours of sleep I find that the battery is down to 85% !!! Strange isn't it ...
GSam battery monitor says that nearly 67% of battery is used by "App Usage" , on clicking App Usage for bifurcation of battery usage I find that nearly 50% of my battery is used up by "Kernel (Android OS)"......How to control this , any help will be appreciated dear forum friends !!
Please help me regarding this unusual problem....
Turn location services off. And then go check out @stanley08 thread about battery saving tips.

There are 2 things checked in my "location services" ...1) Access to my location....2) Use wireless networks.
Do I need to uncheck both ??

i personally dont turn off these 2 options, and dont have problem with battery.

So try to reboot your phone?

Hey guys.
I just noticed that when I go into the location settings on my Note 3 (Omega V12) , i see something called Unified Daemon (EUR) causing high GPS Usage and probably battery usage too. Does anyone know what this is ?

Its to do with the accuweather widget on the homescreen, and the widget on the lockscreen. I have my location set as a certain place. So it does not use my GPS.

I also have mine using a set location with auto refresh every hour. I'm also getting the high battery usage and it's always on the recent location apps.
I turned the app off and it stopped consuming battery. Guess I'm in the market for a new weather/clock widget...
Hope this helps!

Theres some gps options that you can use to avoid the widget from consuming the battery:
1. U can just set it up to update once every 6 hours
2. U can change the locations settings for low usage or use just the gps.
Hellooo,
Do you guys reckon keeping Google location services on (not high accuracy) hugely affects battery??
Would you recommend leaving on just the GPS sensor or turning everything off??
Because I kind of like features brought by having location services on, but Im a bit afraid of the battery drain, and we all really need battery life
What are your impressions & opinions on this??
Thanks!
Honestly I haven't done some serious testing on that part, but as a rule of thumb, I disable the GPS since it logically makes sense that it'll drain some battery.
If you can't live without it - then why turn it off =D

I keep it always on (high accuracy) to use nice Google Now features, and the battery life is still very long! (i'm using Mahdi ROM but it was the same when I was on stock ROM)

How much battery life do you get? As in hours without charging and screen-on time?
If anyone else wants to share his experience and setting would be much appreciated!
