Hey guys.
I just noticed that when I go into the location settings on my Note 3 (Omega V12) , i see something called Unified Daemon (EUR) causing high GPS Usage and probably battery usage too. Does anyone know what this is ?

Its to do with the accuweather widget on the homescreen, and the widget on the lockscreen. I have my location set as a certain place. So it does not use my GPS.

I also have mine using a set location with auto refresh every hour. I'm also getting the high battery usage and it's always on the recent location apps.
I turned the app off and it stopped consuming battery. Guess I'm in the market for a new weather/clock widget...
Hope this helps!

Theres some gps options that you can use to avoid the widget from consuming the battery:
1. U can just set it up to update once every 6 hours
2. U can change the locations settings for low usage or use just the gps.

Do you have GPS & all location services enabled? Or an app that has location services enabled? Also how can tell it is searching every 10-15 seconds?

I do have all that enabled, yes. And I know it because the GPS crosshairs show up that often.

Download a battery monitoring app (I HIGHLY recommend GSam Battery Monitor) and see what is using your GPS signal.

It might be smart Wifi. Go into your advanced wifi settings and turn it off. (It uses GPS to determine when to look for wifi)
I believe you may have a user app running in the background that is constantly accessing your location. Kill user apps one at a time until the gps indicator stops flashing or you may find the culprit by checking the permissions of recently installed apps.

I have GPS on 24/7 and it doesn't drain my battery. I've been averaging one day with 3hr + on screen time. It must be an app draining his battery this bad.

Joe all phones are different. I turn mine off when in am not using it to prevent this. But more than likely the OP has a rouge app.

Hi, I need help to figure out why I'm getting so more much awake time than screen on time.
According to the partial wake lock stats audioout_2 is the one that keeps waking up my phone... Tho the time running is not very high so I'm a little confuse here...
Is anything else I'm missing here??
Thanks
PD sorry for my bad English

hi..
Audio out 2 is the touch/screenlock sounds.
try disable and monitor it in BBS again in few hours' time.
Playing music will cause AudioOut_2 wakelock.
I get it when using any music player.
Hi, I already have touchscreen wakelock sound disabled.
Using wakelock detector, I found Facebook app is draining a lot of battery, but I'm not sure If that's the app that causes the audioout_2 wakelock.
I downloaded greenify , so I'll try add the app there.
Thanks

Hi, at the moment I'm not using my phone for playing songs. Maybe some other app? I've read that viber could cause this wakelock, I uninstall it but still the same.
Thanks!

hi.
yes, viber does cause wakelocks.
try to post screenshots of BBS partial wakelocks after 4 hours idle time (without any interruptions), with the sound disable and other apps that u think that causes wakelocks
Cheers..

whatsapp is another wakelock culprit preventing yr device to deep sleep..
what I would suggest to u is to unchecked sync contacts in whatsapp setting.
that would minimise the wakelocks if u still intend to use it.
so does exchange mail service..
maybe try to change refresh intervals to 4 hours and monitor it from there.
nlp collector is caused by location is being turned on in yr device settings.
turn location to off if u want it to go away.
and after 4 hours, post a dump file from BBS here again, mate.
other things to look at BBS is the high number of counts on each services running in the partial wakelocks.
besides these, there are more..

thats was a test, when i let my phone alone for 4 hours... In normal use is 3%/h
had the same issue(AudioOut drain without playing any music), turned out to be the lock-screen sound effect drains the battery after locking the screen. disabled it , no more drain
I have GSam battery monitor installed on my Note 3 (SM-900) running stock JB 4.3 (MK1) ....
Since a last few days I have witnessed battery drain on my phone without any apparent reason....I charge my phone to 100% at night (wifi & 3G data is off at night) & when I wake up after about 8 to 9 hours of sleep I find that the battery is down to 85% !!! Strange isn't it ...
GSam battery monitor says that nearly 67% of battery is used by "App Usage" , on clicking App Usage for bifurcation of battery usage I find that nearly 50% of my battery is used up by "Kernel (Android OS)"......How to control this , any help will be appreciated dear forum friends !!
Please help me regarding this unusual problem....

i personally dont turn off these 2 options, and dont have problem with battery.

So try to reboot your phone?

Pretty much standard Samsung behaviour (Note 3 is the same)
Get shot of Samsung apps (just freeze HUB as it causes rotation problems on the N3 and may on the S5 also)
Log out of your Samsung account
Turn off GPS
Turn off Air/Gestures etc unless you really need them.
If you can rid your device of G+ and Google Search etc as they hog processes also.
Keep your syncing to a minium, try not to have every app syncing all the time at once, stagger the sync time a bit.
Grab Wake lock detector and monitor what's keeping your device awake/ using processes etc.
Usually, a debloat on Samsung devices tends to sort out Android System, But I noticed after I moved to Kitkat on my Note 3 that Android system rarely dropped below 18% or so, unless I used an AOSP ROM.

I think the problem was NiLS FP. Ever since I uninstalled it my battery has been amazing. I uninstalled it last night at 2am, then woke up today at 11am and my battery did NOT drop not even 1% throughout the night!
From previous experiences, if in doubt, take it back.

Same thing here.
As of like 4 days ago the battery life went from "pretty good" to "absolute garbage".
I'm thinking SOMETHING updated and is causing this massive drain.
After the second day on the room of my choice my battery life tanked. I found the issue to be a few apps which begin to sync in the background for location. Go to location services and check it out. Some you will have to disable in location services and some in the apps themselves. Happy hunting.
