[Q] problem after install safestrap - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

hi
i install the safe strap on my sg4 sgh-i337 after the installation i install the [ROM][Kernels][AROMA] ALPHA | v10 | 3Minit Authorized distributor | Sept 24, 2013 ,,, and now i lost my root and the system doesn't mount the sdcard extfat to root my cell again now i don't have Recovery for instal other rom,,
somebody can help me

Did u re install safstrap on that rom?
If so u should see the safstrap splash screen on your next reboot and choose recovery to get to your stock slot and activate it to go back to stock to try something else. I lost root trying a Tmobile rom and did what was suggested to u and all was good.its called safstrap for a good reason.

[Q] Need help flashing The Blu Kuban

I rooted my sprint GS4 using CF-auto-root and now I'm a bit lost as to how i can flash the Blu Kuban Rom. I used the same procedure i used to do for my HTC evo 4g; booted to recovery and chose install zip from external and then accepted Blu Kuban in the menu but the install failed. I spent about 1.5 hrs trying to better understand, but i just don't. Do i need to install a custom recovery? I feel like this is a very easy thing to do and im just confused. How do I flash this ROM?
You don't have a custom recovery? If the answer is no then yes you need one. I personally use twrp
How to install twrp:
1. Download "goomanager" from the play store
2. Open goomanager and grant root access
3. Press menu and select install openrecoveryscript
4. Done
Boot in recovery
Backup up current rom
Install blu rom
If that fails re-download blu rom
Should had been the same way you did it with the og evo

First you need to install twrp 5.0.0.2 then boot into recovery and flash it if it fails its prob a corrupt dl

(Q) Unable to flash custom rom via CWM

Hi first time I am having a problem of not able to flash custom rom via recovery CWM, here's the problem, I am using Philz recovery whenever I flash zip, the process of flashing went ok, but when all done flashing I press Reboot System Now, recovery takes me to screen that give me a message Root Access is Missing - Root device, then YES -- Root Device (/system/xbin/su) I click YES..then reboot when to Samsung GS4 splash screen then just black afterward instead of seeing boot animation..and after 1 minute when back to recovery..that's it..I know I already double check that I have root access also using root checker everything is ok, I even flash stock firmware through odin no problem and re-root but still doesn't help..do you think I have a problem in /system/xbin/su folder..please help how to fix this..thank you soo much..

Well it's a rare case but if possible put stock again reset the device from inside and do cf root and philz recovery all be well
There must be some bad system file or app causing this

[Q] Nexus 4 - 4.4 to 4.4.2 issues

Hey fellow members
I need some help updating my Nexus 4 (ROOTED) with Clockwork Mod Touch Recovery.
I am not a newbie so i'll understand most of what anyone will require me to do but CWM will give me a status 7 error
My phone is stably working on 4.4 at the moment.
"framework/odex has unexpected contents"
somewhere in the update.zip
I'm going from 4.4 -> 4.4.2: occam KOT49H from KRT16S
source - Android Police for the Link. (outsiders can't post links)
The size is 52mb - I have a system notification update that won't go away for 4.4.2 but it sends me to CWM where it will keep failing and giving me status 7.
ADB says it can't sideload since it needs android-info.txt (if that helps for this problem too)
If anyone can help, much appreciated.
-Asad
You need stock recovery in order to flash the OTA update
Enviado desde mi Nexus 4 mediante Tapatalk
just do it from fastboot
Just flash system.img file from factory 4.4 rom and then be sure to flash the 4.4.2 through latest TWRP recovery.
Unleashed by my Nexus 4
I know how to fix this. please give a thanks mah first reply ever
1) download wugsfresh nexus root toolkit
2) there will be an option on the right flash stock plus unroot ..choose that optin
3) then it will ask you which android os you wanna flash then choose 4.4.2(latest as of now)
3) it will download and flash it and its done and it won show status seven and services framework has unexpected contents
4) make a backup before doing so

I'd rather download factory img of 4.4.2 and flash-all.bat. Backups always necessary.
You need stock recovery to flash the OTA, but you will lose the root. You might try "Rootkeeper".

[Q] ROM .zip install

Ok so currently running a rooted VS980 on 12B with CWM 6.0.x.x non touch. I have attempted to flash both CM10.2 and a 4.4 kitkat absed rom (pa_g2-4.0-ALPHA-20131205-vs980). In both cases I get the same error,
asset failed: run_program("/system/bin/loki.sh") == 0
E: Error in /data/media/o/ (filename of rom in zip format)
(status 7)
installation aborted
My current steps are a backup of rooted 12B,
wipe/factory reset
wipe cache partition
wipe dalvik
format system.
I also attempted to install a GAPPS .zip to see if it was happening with all zip files, the GAPPS installed with no issues.
phone also will take a restore from CWM so at least im not bricked in the meantime
Now that that is all out of the way can anyone tell me what is happening here? Only my second rooted phone first being a droid 4 and by the time I rooted it there was a lot out in the form of auto runs and apps to take care of all the steps to root/flash roms. So my knowledge level is pretty novice on this.
UPDATE: so after my reading im coming across random issues with CWM on the LG G2. going to attempt to push ASOPA 4.4 with GAPPS after I switch to TWRP.
Get same thing on trwp

Make sure you are on the latest versions. Darker ones will not install kitkat. Roms

UPDATE 2:
Ok, so after following the guide below and face palming myself about a thousand times through the process, I've come to another snag..... I get all the way to the end in both options 1 and 2, then get the error below. Option 3 (GooManager) states that there is no recovery for my phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2449670
[+] loki_flash 2.1
[-] loki aboot version does not match device
looked around through the thread and cannot find a definitive answer on what im doing wrong or what I may have done wrong in rooting or with already running CWM.
I want to attempt to go back to stock. Completely unrooted and start from scratch but not sure the path to take on this. I've factory reset via CWM but the phone is still rooted and the apps i removed via titanium backup are missing as well.
Is there a way to pull a stock firmware and somehow push it to the phone so that everything i have done thus far is erased? ( excuse the terminology here) like erasing and reformatting a computer's hdd and re installing windows.

Hopefully this stock firmware guide works...
Goo doesn't work either lol. Use freegee to install recovery. Will take you about 2 minutes to complete and you will be rooted and have a custom recovery installed

Thats how I got CWM onto the phone after I rooted. After all my reading though, I want to go back to stock and start all over again. I still haven't got a chance to start the proccess yet, been pouring through the thread about reverting back to stock firmware to see what issues have come up. From mwhat I can tell the issues were all related to people not fully reading the directions provided by the OP. Will update once I have attempted. FreeGee worked like a charm for getting CWM on though
Ok, so using the thread listed above i was able to revert back to 11a!!!!!!! now, onto IORoot and see if i can loki twrp 2.6.3.2 and then flash 2.6.3.3.
Status 7 error means the rom developer is still using the old update binary script.
If you flash the latest philz recovery before you install a zip untick the setting that says" don't allow old update binary" Your zips should then flash without issue.
A better solution is to use the new update binary script yourself or ask the rom developer to update it.

Thanks for clarifying that!!!!!
So as of now I have re flash stock 11A per the guide (showed unrooted once done), Rerooted via IORoot 22 and then adb flashed twrp 2.6.3.2, Now I am going to flash the 2.6.3.3 .zip via TWRP and then try to flash A ROM and Kernel.
Back up and running!!!!
IORoot22
TWRP 2.6.3.3
ASOPA 4.4 BETA (updating as daily releases come out)
Slim GAPPS (might switch to regular due to the speech to text function being missing from keyboard but need to do some reading to figure out if running the full GAPPS will fix that or if it is something with the ROM ) EDIT: as i typed this i got a text and as i replied I noticed the icon is there now on the keyboard.... FACEPALM....
Thanks for all the information that was provided guys. Probably could have cleared this all up without the thread and just reading, Thanks for not flaming me and turning me away with a statement to use the search function.
To anyone reading this to find a fix for an issue they are having here are the links in order of what I did to get back up and functioning.
