Hello!
I was running cyanogenmod 11 on my gt-i9505 and i decided to install stock gs4 rom (touchwiz).
Everything was ok untill i realised that i cant turn on wi-fi
Now i cant restore my backup because i dont have a custom recovery and i cant get it without wifi :crying:
I have already rooted my phone after instaling touchwiz...
I dont know what to do...
it would be great if someone could tell me how can i flash custom recovery (like clockwork recovery) using computer or gs4 without wi-fi.
Is there way to install cyanogen mod backups using odin?
I have already tried to install cyanogen mod with odin by coverting zip to tar...
Please awnser if you can!
Sorry for bad english

I have been trying to do the same, over and over again, I think the only way is to go back to stock, but since the Root method I used required TWRP, that won't help either and that I had to install via ADB, I would love to find an answer to this too
Here is your answer!

Which version of TWRP are yours?
You can download the newest one (2.6.3.4) here
I downloaded the flashable one and then installed CM 11 just fine.
My phone is D802 too.
Hope I can help! :fingers-crossed:
i flashed it with flashify using this copy of CWM
hmm didnt see that you were using the d802...not sure if this will work or not. If you want to try it be my guest. otherwise get on the AndIRC channel and ask around thats what I did.
Also you can replace the recovery from terminal.
Here is the link. Just did it and tested successfully.

I would like to install the kitkats under development. Can they be installed over a stock rom? I've installed the latest 2ndInit that I could find (it displays its version as v1.1.8), which installed cyanogen recovery v5.0.3.1. The instructions say you have to update the recovery, but the update_recovery.zip file doesn't apply.
Can I put the kitcat over a stock rom? Do I need a more recent 2ndInit and/or recovery? If so, where do i find them?
(Yes, this is a spare phone, and I am doing this for testing purposes.)

In CWM flash this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48501247
After you have flashed this reboot the phone, enter again in bootmenu(vol - on blue led) > TWRP recovery and flash what Rom you want.

Thanks, that's working. What I had wrong is trying to flash update_recovery.zip, which looks like it is to update previous CMs. I was able to flash that .zip from the 2ndInit's custom recovery, and use that to flash CM11 Now I have CM11 on it - thanks for your help. Next to choose a gapps package. It was actually the name 'TWRP' that I was missing.
For other's convienience, you can get TWRP Manager from the market, but there doesn't seem to be an official download of the apk, if you don't want to bother setting up a google account to get it.
Let this be a warning, the latest update put my phone in a reboot loop. After trying to apply the update clockwordmod would come up on restart, installation would fail, couldn't see why, too fast, the phone would start up and after 15-20 sec it would shutdown to start all over again.
Don't know what update does as I have a french phone and all update messages come in french. I saw that USB on the go was mentioned and some other bug fixes.
TO FIX:
Enter fastbood mode (VOL DOWN+POWER)
From the PC enter:
fastboot erase cache
Can someone more knowledgeable say why the update fails?
Regards

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I was thinking that you need the stock recovery and not CWM or TWRP.

Yes you do and no root
I had the same problem. You have to go back to latest stock rom before installing the update, and then rooting again. Worked fine for me.
See this guide for example : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2542219

With some experience thereĀ“s nothing easier than flash stock ROM. Or do it thrice a day if you feel like that

If i understand it... Have you flashed OTA with Phil CWM without reverting phone to full stock (recovery, unrooted and untouched system apps)?

What variant r u using? I'm waiting for the us gsm update for xt1034 so I can have native otg USB. I already have philz installed so if I can just flash over my rooted stock ROM that would be awesome!

Hello guys,
I have a rooted stock Nexus 7 2012 (3g GSM) model. I've Installed on it is a very old CWM recovery v6.0.2.3 when i first bought it. It's been a long time since i got this device, and i forgot every thing about rooting & what not, so i want to use this easy method below.
I want to update this old recovery to the latest version, so i can flash new ROMS like CM11, PA and many others vie the new recovery.
So, I need help finding a .zip file of the newest recovery so i can install the update from this old recovery, is it doable?
Thanks,
You can use RomManager App if your are root : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.rommanager

How good is this method compared to the .zip flashable file?
Isn't the flashable file more safe from errors and such compared to that app?
the method is exactly the same, it's the official app of clockworkmod : it will flash the zip of the last cwm avalaible for your device automaticaly.
