Hello everyone,
I have an SGH-i337 unlocked and I was wondering if it is possible to add the LTE Band 1800? It's the LTE Frequency of my carrier provider here in the philippines.
Can anyone help? Is this possible? I saw a video adding the AWS for access to T-Mobile's frequency but i'm not sure if it will help me connect to the LTE frequency listed above.
Thanks!
The AT&T (i337) only comes with LTE bands 1/4/7/17. You can't simply just add a frequency to a chip because it's hardware based. (i think)
I see, that's unfortnate if that's the case. So, what's the case of the t-mo AWS unlocking?
Do you know the exact model of the t-mo aws unlock? T-Mobile LTE bands are 1,2,4,5. And the i337 contains 2 of those bands.
Didn't the MF3 firmware update unlock the 1800 band? Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

It unlocked band 2 and 5 if I remember correctly. Which is band 2 1900 and 5 being 850.

Ah. You are correct about 2 being 1900. Couldn't remember if it was 18 or 19

I'm very curious if the actual hardware is capable of it, and it's just a matter of getting it enabled.
thank you all so much for the replies.
I also have the feeling that the LTE Band 3 just needs to be unlocked in such a way the Bands 2 and 5 were unlocked. Hopefully this would be possible but I am losing hope.

The AT&T model doesn't have LTE band 3 so there is no way for it be unlocked. It's not part of the software, but part of the actual LTE chip that is on board. (hardware).

LTE only works in AWS, 1700 I hear it referred to as band 4 on the nexus 4.
I dont think At&t's LTE work on this phone either.
Alright thanks guys

I checked Qualcomm WTR1605L specification and it supports 1800mhz LTE. So why doesn't it work? Software limitation?

Its a hardware limitation as there are no signal amplifiers and filters installed except for band 4 AWS which are included in the chipset. This works basically only on T-Mobile LTE at 1900 MHz in the US. This issue has been discussed to death in this forum and is very old news.

Turns out some AT&T markets use the AWS band for LTE, spectrum problems I hear. So in some markets you may get att lte on this phone.

So.. correct me if this is wrong; the Nexus4 supports AWS HSPA+ out of the box (aka T-Mobile), but also can be modded to support LTE on the same band- which many other carriers besides T-Mobile use.
This is very rare, isn't it? Because in every other commercially-released device, these two features are pretty much mutually-exclusive. If you buy a phone that supports AWS out of the box from T-Mobile or a Canadian carrier like Mobilicity it has no LTE support because those carriers don't offer it. If you buy a device with LTE support from a larger carrier like AT&T or Telus, it has no support for AWS at lower speeds because its carrier doesn't use them.
So the Nexus4 would be the only device to support both these carriers at maximum network speeds?

With verizon now opening up the LTE 4 band (AWS) on certain phones I was wondering if the Note 3 (on verizon) has this band available? The FCC website is down atm (thanks congress) so I can't check.
yes it does. s4 and note 3 are first to have i believe
Hello, I bought an SM-N910S bc it it listed to have ATT lte but I can not get it to pick up lte. Can anyone help?
You have to introduce the APN settings I guess.
I did. I tried *#0011# but couldnt get the menu up.
It is in the normal settings of the phone in the network part "name of the acces poitns".

I am really sorry to dissappoint you, but your phone is NOT compatible with AT&T LTE. None of the international Samsung phones support North America LTE (Bands 4, 13, & 17). 95% of AT&T's LTE network runs on LTE band 17 (700mhz) and your phone does not support that frequency. This means you will never get AT&T LTE on it. You should pick up HSPA+ which nowadays is performing faster than LTE in some areas. Looking at your certain model, it looks like you may pick up band 5 LTE, which AT&T has in VERY FEW areas.
For future reference, the only models that will pick up AT&T LTE are the AT&T model obviously, T-Mobile models, and Verizon. No international version has ever had support for North America LTE bands.
Here is the specs to your model and you can see nowhere does it support band 4 or 17 LTE.

The N910s isn't even coming up on Samsung.com for me. Probably because the device isn't a North American device. I'm telling you that an international device will not support AT&T band 17 LTE. Hopefully I'm wrong. Do you have any proof that the device you bought says it supports band 17 LTE? Not unlocked USA LTE. You want band 17 LTE.

MattMJB0188 is right. You are out of luck. The hardware doesn't support the ATT LTE bands. You should have searched the forums here first. This has been discussed before. Also, where on that site does it list band 17 (700) and 4 (1700) support? I couldn't find it.

Hmmmm. You picked up the Korean version of the Note 4? Can I ask why? I do see support for band 17. Was the device originally locked? Its possible AT&T may be blocking LTE on that model number I don't know. If the APN settings are right, then I'd make sure my account is provisioned for LTE (that matters with AT&T).
Just so you know, your device is lacking band 2 LTE and band 4 which AT&T is using in congested areas. Generally, this will give you a poor performance. For example when an AT&T device is using band 17 and it becomes congested it can easily switch to band 2. Your device will not.
Good luck with your warranty also.
Its only band 17 in my area. And i travel a lot to china, south korea, and Canada so i wanted the bands. It seems ATT is the only carrier that lte isnt working on that its suppose too

Did you give AT&T the imei of your note 4? If so, you won't get LTE. You can confirm this by putting the sim back in an ATT android LTE phone and testing LTE. It shouldn't get LTE either until you switch the imei back with AT&T.
No I did not. I believe its an sktelecom software add on.

Exactly. You have to supply AT&T with an IMEI number from one of their devices in order to get LTE to work. Just go to a store and jot down the IMEI on any of their LTE android devices. Then call customer service and have them provision your account.
I did. They have my Q10 IMEI

If you have the correct APN, and your account is provisioned for one of their Android LTE devices, then I don't know. Its possible they could be blocking LTE from that device, given its a Korean phone. I don't know. Good luck.
My guess is they only unlock 3G bands and leave LTE locked. I'm going to dig farther
For those wanting to use the note on different carriers, here are the supported bands. (Taken from the box) In North America, this phone should have full compatability with ATT and ATT mvno's. Bell and Rodgers should also be compatible in Canada.
GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900
UMTS: Band 1 (2100), Band 2 (1900), Band 4 (1700), Band 5 (850)
LTE: Band 4 (1700), Band 12 (700a), Band 1 (2100), Band 2 (1900), Band 3 (1800), Band 5 (850), Band 7 (2600), Band 8 (900), Band 17 (700bc)
Here is a list of LTE networks by country.
Band 3 and 7 are the most popular in Europe. This phone also has band 8 for global roaming in the future.

Looking at you ookla speedtest image the ISP is listed as Verizon, do you have FIOS and the phone was connecting to WiFi? I'd appreciate if you can test the connection again and verify that you T-Mobile Note4 with Straight Talk doesn't can get 4GLTE on that AT&T MVNO.

Exactly! Thank you for clarifying that.
Maybe someone posted this but I can't seem to find any when I searched for it here.
I have an N9005 note 3 and I'm using a T-mobile sim card. I can't get an LTE signal because t-mobile has a different frequency according to the customer service I spoke with.
Is there in any way that I can get an LTE signal from t-mobile?
I would highly appreciate any help.
On AT&T in some areas you can get LTE.

I'm not sure if you got a definite answer on this, but surprisingly T-Mobile's service rep was actually correct. I'm shocked!!! Lol
You won't be able to get true LTE on that device with T-Mobile. The N9005 doesn't support LTE Band 4 which is what Tmo uses.
