I'm thinking of moving to a G2 but have a few questions.
1. How easy is it to root/flash ROM on the TMobile version?
2. Are there and rally good minimal ASOP builds out?
3. Should I get the version from t-Mobile or is there a better one I should look at importing?
4. How is the general build quality?
Thanks.
1. Easy
2. No AOSP builds out
I made the jump, at first I went back to the n4 but missed the screen on the g2...its massive!
Does F320 work with T-Mobile US 3G or 4G?

Hey guys,
Just a quick question. When the Nexus 4 was released, it was pretty much identical to the Optimus G. People figured out how to flash the Nexus 4 stock firmware onto the G, and inturn the G turned into a Nexus 4, and received all Nexus 4 updates. Do you guys think this will be possible with the Nexus 5 and G2? I've just bought a G2 because I am too impatient to wait for the Nexus 5, and I'm hoping I'll be able to do it
no, n5 has different hardware

How so? Same CPU, same amount of ram, same res screen, pretty much everything is the same except the camera and the G2 has an IR blaster...

The main board, kernel and other smaller parts such as sensors and memory will be different chips (most likely) so although the N5 software should be a, relatively, easy port to the G2 I would strongly recommend you don't try flashing your G2 with any software for the N5 unless it is specifically advised to do so.
You can't ever flash anything without modification or porting of some kind. Will it boot likely but not everything is likely top work either.

Im not entirely sure it would even boot. Either way you have a very high chance of causing some kind of software brick which although is fixable can be a long and annoying process.
I still having figured out why people are drooling over boring aosp...it doesn't even out bench stock but maybe 4.4 will be light and fluffy as promised

There's just something about AOSP that I love, but not entirely sure what it is. I've had every Nexus device except the Nexus One, and I've loved them all, and they always seem to be the devices I keep the longest
There's high resemblance between CM and the stock Nexus 4, with CM having the upper hand with features the stock roms are lacking (e.g. the latest added call blocking). So, we're in good hands don't worry.

You can have AOSP on the G2 without needing the nexus firmware. And for the Nexus 5 firmware to work on the G2... it needs pretty much every inch of hardware to be the same... not just the main parts. Look at the development forums... theres already AOSP based ROMs

Only for the American variants. Unfortunately us in Europe are stuck with very little choice in that department at the moment. And all because stupid American carriers require different hardware variants. :crying:

Same thing with us d803 users. Makes me want to return the phone

Plenty of AOSP Roms for the D802. D800 just got CM and D803 just got Carbon. It's just a snowball effect, well be getting even more as time goes on.

I hope so, at the moment it seems all the American G2s are having a party while us here in Europe are a little high and dry.
I don't wish to be hypocritical, if i were intelligent enough I would develop my own ROMS but i find all that way to complex for me xD
Anyone working on a LG g2 kitkat rom or know of one in the works so I don't gotta wait on lg to release theirs also why is there such a lack of Tmobile love as far as lg g2 roms go

No roms out yet.. but kit kat should be comming to the g2 stock this month or the beginning of next it was confirmed... i personally am interested to see what they do they better make some software bug improvements id like to see clean ups mainly im extremely happy with lg's UI i just want to see some of the really messy stuff get cleaned up...
Anyone have a vzw note 3 then pick up a g2?what did you think? How's the reception? I'm getting irritated with dropped data ect.

I came from a GS3 when they were running the free after instant rebate promo.
The G2 does have a more reliable signal, possibly a little stronger too.
I dont know if it is a big enough reason to switch...it could depend on your location, etc.
It is a fantastic phone though. I dont have the urge to crack flash either with all the UI customization possible witb stock.
Did they patch loki yet? I'm missing aosp and I meant to say I have a note 3. I have a nexus 7 just seems the note and 7 are too close in size. How's battery life?

If you are willing to trade a Note 3 for an LG G2, contact me.
Sent from my LG G2 using xda app-developers app
I did the opposite where I had the G2 and dumped it for a Note 3. If I'm being completely honest, I think the Note 3 is a better overall phone with more advantages. But of course it depends how you will use your phone.
I owned the G2 for a month, so I think I had a pretty decent sample size to give my opinion.

I honestly don't think they are even comparable, because of the size and the S Pen.
Sent from my LG G2 using xda app-developers app
It mostly depends on what you want to do with it. I have the original Note on ATT. I decided on the G2 over the N3 because of all the nonsense Samsung is getting into with not allowing us to flash and customize OUR devices. Since you are on Verizon, the vise is even tighter on you. Seems us GSM guys have it a little easier. Good luck with your decision.
Is this another Note 3 vs G2 comparison thread?
Aren't people getting tired of comparison threads getting locked?

I don't think you are up to date. The Verizon Note 3 has a bootloader exploit, custom recovery and custom roms already. In short, it's good to go.

I wouldn't call safe strap an bootloader exploit as much as a work around. Still no way to allow custom kernels

Well i know that I'm talking about the file systems. Like for example. The galaxy nexus gsm and the verizon version was really the same except some of the files in the system. Other than that beside the cdma radio no difference at all

In my opinion, i went from at&t to sprint, then back to at&t. both carriers with the G2. was very impressed with the AT&T model. interface, speed, and battery life. then Sprint.... their model sucked in my opinion. battery life was terrible, did not like the U.I,slightly different. phone was not at its performance point, felt cheap. went back to AT&T and have never been happier.
what it boils down too.... AT&T far superior than Sprint who is going broke.(i think) what ive heard. here on maui anyway.
havent tried the other variants.
reply, there are tons of answers, just search and read threads
