Ok so yes it does sound stupid but its been going around lately and it could be possible. Samsung has had the technology for years now and why not? Not only will it be flexible but also it can with stand grate damage.
Sorry dont know how to enable videos. (not my video)
example here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-k6r2HQY9Ws
as you can see it can withstand the force of a hammer. also it super thing which would allow for a bigger batter or other hardware.
well its rumors. but samsung, HTC, and apple have all made different variants of there devices this year why not the Note 3?
Top sites have covered this story including:
pocketnow, sammobile, talkandroid, and gottabemobile.
So what do you think? is it possible? or gonna be true? hey you never know! 6 years ago you would have never though that there would be smart watches, glasses or phones.

Dude, reading your post I felt like I was talking to a kid on speed that was trying to explain a scientific theory...
but from what I gather, no. There will be no variant with flexible display.

Engineer on no sleep ls like a Kid on speed. I been working all day.
This concept has been around for 2 years. Here is a prototype phone using this technology at CES:

Look how sweet it is with the Stock Ticker running on the side. This phone would be boss!
---------- Post added at 09:01 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:49 AM ----------
Here is another look of it but this time the wrap around screen is on the bottom of the screen. This would make it easier to hold but love both ideas.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SyKPULw73A
I wonder if the version with the flexible screen will be bigger than the current 5.7"...
The metal chassis might be a problem though, since no swappable battery (and no possibility to upgrade it with an aftermarket one)...
These are my favorite concepts:

I know that a year ago Samsung said they have alreadymade a 6.5" flexible screen so it is possible for sure.
http://mobilesyrup.com/2013/09/25/samsung-to-release-a-phone-with-a-curved-display/
The rumoured device to be graced with the curves is apparently a ‘limited edition’ Galaxy Note 3. No word on a Canadian release, but the curved display is progress and one step closer to a flexible and bendable smartphone.
I'm going to wait to see if they do or not before buying a GN3. If the rumors are true then ill compare it with the Galaxy F series to see which one is better for me.

Feel is definitely premium. It is super thin and feels great in the hand.
No negatives yet. Truthfully, it is hard to find any.
Camera shoots great in the dark (flash is amazing). Burst shot and and few new modes, 360 (on other unlocked versions of s4 but not US) and golf shot.
Battery is great. I go all day with it. I train on it, so it gets used and abused.
The display is the best Ive ever seen on a phone. 1080p is amazing!
The new S Pen menu is fast and smooth. Much more improved over Note 2.
The Speaker is now at the bottom, so music and movies are much much louder.
KNOX security is on board and offers dual modes. Personal and work separated
So far everything is seamless.

Can you confirm if touchwiz is less laggy? Cuz even with Note 2's good specs, touchwiz still lags in certain areas/applications.

Could those who received their note please post where they ordered? A 'thanks' would definitely be in order.
I wasn't aware that it's been released in any markets yet.
So I was at Best buy and played with the 5 for an hour. I tested it side by side with my Note 4. I ran a number of apps and it is a little quicker than the 4, but not in any wow factor way. Camera did open faster and the left multitasking didn't have the lag that my Note 4 has. The screen is slightly more saturated, but again, not really significantly. Side by side they look the same, in fact it's really hard to see the difference (especially if it was in a case).
Exterior is nice and it is slightly narrower, but unfortunately my fingers kept sticking to the glass back.
The 6+ is nice, and I like the new side launcher. Both devices are just supersized s6 and s6 edges.
Feels like when a car company goes from its 2014 to 2015 model. It's basically the same with a few bells and whistles.
Aside from SD and no removable battery (which are probably deal killers for me anyway), I could not justify buying this device unless the price was $450. Then I would put up with the compromise of no sd and changeable battery. But no way I would spend $850-900, especially with other offerings coming up. I bet I am not alone here.
Nothing out there today is a step up from the note 4, for me anyway. This should have been the note 4. I think Samsung has a problem on its hands. I hope I am wrong.

You're def not alone...i have the Note Edge and I've been dying for the N5 release. Truthfully I'm not very happy with the Edge and wanted to go back to a regular phone. I cant get away from Multi window as i use it every day and i love the spen so it was go back to N4 or wait for the N5. Needless to say i waited and am pretty dissapointed with the battery and sd situation. I think i will still try it out and bring it back within the 15 days if i dont like it and maybe jump to a plain N4. How could they lower the mah to 3000 it just boggles my mind. I have a 24,000mah anker battery but one of the reasons i get every note is so i dont look like an Iphone user trying to find a plug ? at restareas, bus stops, etc...the sd im not too worried about with the 64 model plus a flashdrive i can make do but the battery is just simply dissapointing. I may be judging prematurely but im basing my judgement on the S6 battery life which has the same exynos chip less mah but also a smaller screen and less features so im guessing it will balance out and be about the same as the s6 which from my understanding is sub par to begin with. As for them using the glass as an alternative to plastic and calling it a superior build quality, does anyone use their phone without a cover and if you do will you now with glass? You wont even see the back so they could have just as easily used a removable titanium, aluminum, plastic back instead of glass...im just dissapointed plain and simple

Hi guys I just got this phone, check out my review video:
Camera sample pictures to be found on my blog:
http://colonelzap.blogspot.de/2015/08/xiaomi-redmi-note-2-review-mt6795-helio.html
As always, great review. In fact, I liked it so much I bit the bullet and ordered the 32GB version. I've no idea when it will arrive as there's a holiday in China now, but never mind.
One extra thing it would've been great to see in the review is an extra screen comparison. The Mi4 looked much more vibrant, but what I couldn't see is what the whites look like on the Note 2. For example, on the Oppo Find 7a and the ZTE Nubia Z7 Max, whites look a little grey and in some cases a little yellow, which I hate. My super cheap Jiayu G4S has lovely crisp whites in comparison.
Thanks for taking the time to make the video and and demonstrate some of the many features (the one handed mode is what made me take the plunge). Is root available on the standard ROM too, or just the developer firmware?
Yes, great review. I have my device now, but no point making a review because yours is better
Ummm, someone mentioned that there are issues related to high battery use with the screen on, and that there is more info on the Chinese forums (in Chinese) related to this device.
Colonel Zap, now that you have had it for a few days, how is the battery life?
whats about the battery test? could you post any screenshots about your screen time?

Thank you for the review!
The camera samples' image quality is seems pretty bad in my opinion.. at outside a big part of the images are blurred with a lot of ghost effects., and looks like an oil painting... disappointing.
Wow, awesome

Thanks for the great review!
I'm torn between buying this phone and the ZTE Nubia Z7 (not mini or MAX)
They'll both cost me roughly the same (the Nubia is ~30 euros more expensive, but the included headphones make up for some of it), and I feel like the ZTE has better specs overall, but I'm a bit worried because it's a one and a half year old device versus a pretty new one, as well as a 32 bit processor versus a 64 bit one.
What do you guys think?

I've done some research, but I live in Europe so I don't know if what I've found is valid for other regions. From what I've seen, Oppomart seems to have the best price for me and as far as I know it's a very reliable site. If anyone knows any better site please do let us know

The Nubia is probably a better device in most aspects except the CPU, so I'd probably get that. Still, that screen + that battery may not be a good combo.
Yes, yes, it's possible to love a phone. Heck, you sleep next to it, don't you? Rate this thread to indicate your love for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, all things considered. A higher rating indicates that the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is an incredible phone that you enjoy tremendously. You love it.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Things I love so far from my hands on experience. The more squared corners. I feel the note should be almost flat and I feel they met that. The size of the screen. 6gb ram. Water proof. Even more refined S pen and the new features. Of course the Qhd Oled screen.

No physical home button. Taller than Note 5. Narrow screen.
Played with it at the store and honestly don't like it. If Nokia 8 or Oneplus 5 included a real wacom pen (a k a S-Pen) I would jump ship.

I'm not a fan of the skinny phone trend either. I had the Note 7 for close to 2 months and I've spent some time playing around with the s8+ while anticipating the arrival of the Note 8. I haven't seen the Note 8 in person yet, but based on the screen ratio I'm going to be disappointed just like I was with the Note 7. I preordered on day 1 because I love Note phones, but it's definitely not the ideal phone. If they had made the phone ratio 16:9 based on the current height, they could've fit a larger battery in it. I'm not asking for a huge phone, maybe as wide as the Note 3, 4, or 5. They seem to be trying to make it a one-handed phone for people with small hands, when in reality it's meant to be a 2-handed phone to begin with. I had problems launching apps in pop-up window on the Note 7. The S-pen couldn't find the starting point with the curved screen. Anyway, the skinny phone with the curved edge just makes the screen way too narrow.
I hear some of the complaints from people who haven't physically played with it, which I can't understand. I've actually played with this phone and I must say this is one gorgeous device! The new S-pen features are awesome! Camera, display and overall design is amazing! I love Samsung because they continue to impress me Note after Note after Note. I've owned every one and they just keep getting better and better. There is things that I wish they would add like a bigger battery and stereo speakers but you can't have it all, overall I am satisfied.
(deleted)
I say, keep the current height and stretch the width to 16x9. Huge screen, more battery. Just like the Note SHOULD be.
I am not so much concerned about a "thin" phone, but a phone that is comfortable to hold. The race for the thinnest phone is crazy, I mean the end of the road is having a chip implanted under your skin, which some companies are already doing.
I am more of less concerned that the battery is too small for this phone and the lack of a 128 or 256gb model + the card slot. Second would be the screen protector issue with the curved screens.
I have big hands and can operate my current Note 4 without problems. I hope my Note 8 (when it arrives) is just as big.
I got mine yesterday and so far I'm loving it. I had an S8+ but it was worth the upgrade. (I have T-Mobile's JOD).
Cheers!
Not as big as I feared
I have really small hands, and I was afraid the phone would be too hard to hold but I haven't felt that way. I've had it three days, lot of setting it up, tweaking it, etc. It's a two handed phone. I generally use the iris scanner which is faster than on the Note 7, so the placement of the fingerprint sensor doesn't bother me as much as it might. It's a beautiful phone, a pleasure to look at things on, and has some really cool little tricks--I can't express how great it is to pair up my budget program and the calculator and have them both up at the same time in a really convenient form.. I've only played a little with the camera but it did a great job of capturing a still image of my two year old grandson who rarely stops moving, without any blur, and the video I took came out really clear and focused on him. The battery life is so-so so far, but it's gotten a work out, during the setting up. I think it's a great phone, and I am definitely falling in love..
Overall.... EXCELLENT phone. However, Hate that the nav bar isn't customizable. Full Screen apps don't have translucent background... This really sucks for me

Smaller battery, but an added spen. The note used to be different from the s series. I think Samsung f'd up this time.
Um, why do all the previous videos and reviews I've seen not mention how far Bixby actually controls the phone? It destroys Siri and GA. I'm blown away once I was shown this. Yea, it does all that typical question stuff pretty normally, nothing special and not as good as Google. But what you can chain together and control on the phone blew me away. I actually get having this and Google going at once, which seemed like a typical samsung waste to me when I picked this up. Probably not news for you coming from S8 etc.
By reviews I mean these Siri vs Google vs Bixby videos where they just ask them the king of France or to rap for them or tell a horrible joke. Why not show that you can control the entire phone by voice haha.

Writing this from a Note 8 now. Upgraded from a Note 4 that was on its last legs. The screen is the same width, just taller. I can put a TPU case in it and it's the same width as the Note 4 in hand. The aspect ratio doesn't effect the screen width, just the height. There is a very small area on the edges of the screen that would be hard to write on, but if you liked the Note 4 you'll LOVE this phone. I certainly do.

I can't get bixby to do ****. If I say send text message to Joe, it won't open up a text screen. If I say call joe it won't do it. I can't figure out what it can do. And it doesn't want to use Verizon's message app. It wants to use Samsung's. Google doesn't care what you use.

How is that on battery? I've used local vpn ad blockers before, and they seem to be battery killers.
The only reasons that I still want root is to install an ad blocker and to be able to work out and kill stupid wakelocks. If I could find a way to do these without root, then this would be perfect.
I've had mine since 9-07. I still have my Note 7. Wow. Incredible screen clarity, Screen scrolls are smooth as glass, and this thing is fast.
It keeps growing on me and I haven't even put a sim in it yet. Case and screen protectors come tomorrow than out with the 7 and in with the Grrrrr 8.
Hi everyone. I've searched all over xda and Google, but it's hard to find a direct answer to this. The S8 is a great piece of kit, but after 2 years I'm just plain sick of using it. Not only is the screen burning in, the software keeps getting worse, and these snapdragon models (950u) don't look ROM friendly. After the pie update, I'm ready to find a Li eage OS-friendly alternative. Anybody else feel the same way? What did you do?

I just installed the new Pie update, and I'm about to throw my S8 out the window. It's laggy as hell and still retains every annoyance, just prettier now...with removed functionality. I'm done. What AOSP friendly phone is best to replace this one? My most important features are the camera, expandable memory, water resistance, hdmi out, and headphones jack. I don't care if it's older, but the camera must at least be equal to this.
Also, a screen without burn-in is a big perk. After 4 years of daily navigation my S5 still has a clean screen, but my S8 has the Google Maps UI burned in after less than 2 years. What a piece of crap! After 2002, burn in was something you explained when kids asked about screen savers, or you'd see only in screens that were left on for months. Ironically, Samsung pioneered the screens that solved burn-in back then, now they just want you to throw away this garbage a couple years later. Disgusting.

Yes, I have a Snapdragon G950U (tmo). Oh, so close! I'm completely new to exynos projects, do they often make it to snapdragons easily? Will the bootloader battery restriction still be an issue?
On a related note, I've seen some posts saying Samsung has sometimes replaced burnt screens. Anybody else had experience here? Even if I keep the phone, this screen needs replacement. If I have to pay for that, it seems easier to sell this one and buy a rom-friendly phone. If that's the case, I probably don't want to get another Samsung.
