im having trouble locating the nandroid folder i searched around and it said its in the root directory but i dont see it can anyone help me? i already partition my sd card thanks
It's just called 'nandroid' in the root of your sd (fat patition), and contains several sub folders. If it's not there, it ain't there. If you partitioned after making a backup all files on your sd will be gone because they were formatted during the process.
the nandroid folder isnt in the root directory and im able to see it in the recovery screen and use it to restore
edit:
solved if other people are using clockwork for backup its under clockworkmod then backup
Update fixed the SD was broken I don't exactly know why but it explains everything so thanks for all your help and sorry for not being very
clear.
Hi I'm having issues with clockworkmod.
See the problem is while trying to flash cyanogen mod I was getting the endless loop so I kept
at it until I managed to flash it. The problem is I flashed Cm6.1.0 so easy fix right? Well I thought so too until clockworkmod wouldn't find the zip. So I tried nandroid and it again couldn't find any zip so I checked the partitions menu and clockworkmod had mounted the
Sd card and the cache. So I unmounted both and still nothing so I looked at the setting's again and it remounts the cache and sometimes the Sd card. Well my problem is worsened by
the fact that the version of cyanogen mod that did flash doesn't have the market or flash.
Any help will be welcome. HTC aria.

With CM 6, the Market is in the GoogleApps zip which must be installed after the ROM.
Also Flash 10.x does not run on the Aria; the CPU is not supported by Adobe.
Well clockworkmod won't find any zip not even nandroid and so my problem deepens so now can't get the market crap.

Some of your terminology in your post is very confusing. First of all, ClockworkMod will only find ZIP files that are copied to the root directory of your SD card. If you copied them to a folder on your SD card, CWM will not find them.
Second, Nandroid is a backup and restore utility and it does not use ZIP files. It creates backup folders on the SD card under /clockworkmod/backup and contains image files of the various partitions on your phone.
So what is the exact state of your phone? You stated that you have flashed CM 6.1? If you boot your phone normally, does CM 6 start up and are you able to use your phone? In order to install gapps.zip file to get the Market app, copy the gapps.zip file to the root of your SD card and see if ClockworkMod can install it. BTW, in CWM you are select "install zip from sdcard" and then "choose zip from sdcard", right?

Not true, you can install ZIP files from any directory.

Thanks for correcting my misinformation. I guess the root location only applies to "update.zip", right?
Yup. And it actually must be named "update.zip"
Oh crap I just formated the boot partition and now my phone won't boot at all!
It still won't find any zip. What now? Is there any way to restore clockworkmod?

Are you copying the zip files from your PC to the sd card? Have you tried downloading a ROM zip file directly to your SD card using your phone's browser?
I have exactly the same problem...Clockwork will not see any .zip files....even tried mounting usb storage from cwm, it mounts and the zips are there, yet it can not find any of them when i try to find them (all are in the root of the sdcard)...any ideas?
So if you pick "choose zip from SD" you can't manually pick a zip?

Found a solution:
1. Get SD card formatter from HERE
2. Plugin your phone (as USB drive), start up the application and format the card (default options selected) NOTE: backup your SD card to your PC first (obviously)
3. Unplug the phone (or put it into charge mod, whatever)
4. The phone should now try (and fail) to mount the card...go to the SD options and format the card using the phone function
The .zip files should now be visible in ClockworkMod Recovery (it worked for me and a few others as far as i know)
Hi every
I used recovery to backup my rom and after I tried another roms I decided to come back the previous one.so I copied the backup folder including all files to Sd-Card and used "restore and backup option" in recovery(CLK),but it seems it cant find any file to restore.
what should I do?
did you move the files fromthe sd card to your computer and back again? did you rename any of the folders?
remembering too taht cwm looks in 'clockwork/backup' not just backup.

of course I moved back to sd card.all files are in one folder.the name is the date and time that I made backup.I think when I copied it to sd-card renamed it to "backup".does it matter?

I didn't get what you are saying.I went to CWR and advanced\restore and backup
Cwr looks in the folder "sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/2011-11-21.23.27.32/" (example date from my backup folder) so it sounds like you aren't copying the backup to the correct place.
ive just installed a new ROM and so i had to flash everything from the phone memo...
b4 doing it i just 'copy paste'd all the phone memory to my pc...
is it possible to recover things from it to my phone?

I am not sure how or what you copied to your pc from your phone.
But if you copied everything from /data/app folder from your internal sdcard
then you can simply copy all the APK's from /data/app to the root of your
internal sdcard. After doing that you can install all those apps(apk's) using
a file manager in your phone. Just open a file manager and click on the
apk filenames and the installer will guide you through the process.
As far as pictures/videos/music that should be no problem to copy back
to your phone.
In other words look for a /data/app folder on your pc to see if you have it.
If not you only copied the /sdcard folder partition and then you will need to
restore/re-download all your apps/apk's from the playstore.
You need to get a good backup/restore app like Titanium Backup from the play store.
It costs a few bucks but it backs up and restores in batch mode instead of one app
at a time which all the free backup/restore apps do at the playstore.
Good luck!
hi guys
i had nand backup with cwm. now i want to copy all backup data to my pc( as i always did for my SGS).
but i cant find the folder of backup...where can i find this backup files so i can keep it safe and release some space on my phone?
thanks
ClockworkMod stores its backup in a location you can't access from the computer. It saves the backups in /data/media/clockworkmod. You will need to copy them onto the sdcard before doing the transfer, or simply do an adb pull from that location.
F.Y.I. TWRP recovery saves your backups right on the sdcard.
there is an app in the playstore called cwm backup manager (not affiliated with cwm). it will copy it to the SD card. then just zip it on the device with Astro (or another program of your choosing) so you can copy it to your PC.
