Hi I need help, I want to copy a TWRP nandroid I have from my PC into my nexus tablet data sdcard to restore a backup. Accidently messed up my build.prop file. So want to restore nandroid but my backups are on my PC. How do I copy them over while in TWRP recovery? Thanks!

If you have a microOTG cable and an SD key/reader. TWRP supports reading storage from a "usb-otg" source. If I can remember you need to turn that option on in the TWRP file mananger settings. It was not too hard to find.
Try copying the TWRP backup from the PC to the SD. Then attaching the microOTG cable, SD key/reader to the N10. Boot into TWRP recovery and do a restore from the "usb-otg" directory. Scroll down to the bottom of the directory list and you should see "usb-otg". Select it and select your backup.
Under mounts and storage there should be a Mount SD card and you can connect you tablet to the computer Mount it and copy them over

I have recently flashed Clockworkmod Recovery on my Galaxy S4 (GT-I9500). I performed a nandroid backup which works just fine since I've been able to use it to restore my stock ROM. However, the phone seems to know where to fetch the backup but I can't locate it personally on the phone either through the PC or using file managers on the device like Root Explorer and Solid Explorer. I even used Solid Edxplorer to change permissions so that I could see all hidden files. Still, all I saw was a 35 byte file named .recovery_version located in /sdcard/clockworkmod with these permissions: rw-rw-r-- and from what I see in the properties of the file it is an MD5. That is all I see. In clockworkmod recovery, the backup is quoted to be in /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup. I can't see that file on my device. Why aren't I seeing this nandroid backup of mine yet it is in the internal storage? I want to move it from my ohone to PC to free up space since it occupies around 3 GB of the precious storage (you all know the storage issues the GS4 is facing don't you?). Help please.

your backup is located in Data/Media/clockworckmod
use es explorer, enable root, move clockworckmod folder to sd card then to your pc
or use adb command to pull it to your pc

If you cannot see or find it in your /sdcard internal, look in your external sdcard /clockworkmod
folder and sub directories in that folder.
The backups are either in internal or external sdcard /clockworkmod and it's sub-directories

Really appreciate this. Was looking around and noticed my phone storage was fairly low, and couldn't find my stock backup to save my life. Googled this and it brought it right up! Again, thanks! Was fixing to make another backup of my current setup and realized I didn't have enough room lol.

I had similar issue.
Your advice resolved it for me as it was exactly where you pointed.
I go about it a bit differently. Under settings in CWMR you can change the backup location to the external sdcard. Do your backup, connect your phone to the pc and copy it off like any other file. The only downside is you need the available space on your card.

Until you are on the road and need that backup because you got a bad dl. Unless you keep a zip drive on you.. Which is actually a good idea. I switched over to twrp so I can save it to extsd.

Brain fart. I meant to say I change the settings in ROM Manager not CWMR.
I think we are talking about doing the same thing but with different apps. I change the location setting in ROM Manager which I use for my backups and it automatically saves the backup to the extsd instead of the device. I then copy it to my pc but always maintain the latest backup on my extsd in case I need it wherever I am. Done and done. No annoying copying from device to extsd to pc or using download server or an adb pull needed.
It's personal preference to use ROM Manager with CWMR or TWRP. It doesn't matter to me. I started off using clockworkmod's apps some time ago and am happy with them. I just moved to 4.2.2 and noticed how ROM Manager handles the backups differently and the number of questions regarding how to get them off their phone. This is my solution and how I have always done it.

open your es explorer and active it'a rooting option in slide panel or use root expkorer then go to this path
mnt//shell/emulated/clockworkmod/backup/ you will fine a folder named this date and time thats your backup folder copy it into your mobile storage .... done the n copy or move it in to your pc like normaly file ...

In Android 4.2+ backups are placed in secure directory, inaccessible to other apps. Backups can be pulled with adb or by using the ROM Manager Backup Download Server.

Ehm, no. Running 4.4.2 and still the back-ups are located in the directories talked about above. Easily accessible by all file manager apps.
Never been any other way as well.

The backup was made through the CWM in recovery mode...
The MD5 checksum gave an error..I am trying to fix it so I need access to the files.
I can see the backup folders in recovery mode but cant find them with any file explorer nor did they show with adb pulling sdcard...
Any ideas??

As we all know our I-9505 have quite large space for system files (and bloatware).
After installing other roms (in my case PAC rom - Android 4.3.1) we have loads of space free there. With PAC i have 2.39GB
Because i have rom backup all the time on internal memory it's it takes about 1,7GB space.
And now the idea:
Create folder '000' in root system folder, move a backup there and any time you wish to recover just copy it back to clockworkmod folder.
Tried that with no sucess as esExplorer and TotalCommander can't mount root system folder as read/write.
Anyone knows is that possible ? That could save us some nice space.

I know that this way you can't recover backup before you copy it to clockworkmod mod but i always have copy of backup on PC for any bad situation and i can copy it back to phone thru clockworkmod recovery mouting USB or in download mode.
I did a stock slot backup on my old phone to sdcard. I see it present under twrp using file explorer. Safestrap cant find it. I click restore on the replacement phone and there are no choices listed. Suggestions
You will have to make a backup of your current rom to recreate the folder that has ypur backups then move your old backup to the new backup folder switching phones changes the mame of the backup folder
As the title says neither TB nor TWRP will recognize my SD card, the backup on it respectively. I made a Nandroid-backup with TWRP 3.0.2 on my Z3C, put the SD card into my XC and tried to restore from said Nandroid-backup but TB doesn't even recognize the SD card. Says there is no TWRP folder/backup on it. But there definitely is. I can see it in the browser. I also copied it to my internal storage and from there I could access it without problems.
Weirdly enough TWRP also doesn't recognize the backup folder. When I select to restore and select my SD card there is no backup to choose from. I'm using TWRP 3.1.1 on my XC.
Phone is rooted and running the latest fw 34.3.A.0.217 with Genesis kernel 1.05-nondrm
Is the backup faulty or could it be because of some incompatibilities with the kernel?
Backup a file so TB makes a new folder then copy your the contents of your backup into it and try again and you need to select your SD card in TWRP.
I backed everything up with TWRP to my SD card. The folder is there, as are the files.
TB just doesn't recognize my SD card at all. It only recognizes my internal storage, but not my SD card.
When I copy the TWRP backup from the SD card to the TWRP folder on my internal storage I can restore from Nandroid backup.
But I think that the backup is faulty too, because after restoring contacts and messages to test it the apps crash. When I open the telephone app it crashes and says "android.process.acore" has been closed. It says the same when I open the messaging and contacts app but the messaging app doesn't crash.

I was talking about TB and what I've done in the past after restoring my Phone to get TB to recognize my files. Browse through a few pages of the TWRP threads, I'm sure I've seen similar issues reported about the SD.

A common solution to this problem is to 'Clear Cache' of affected apps in their App Info / Storage dialog.

Yes, I have restored data+cache. Maybe that's what caused the errors. Weird thing is, no messages were restored except the drafts I didn't send but saved.

I've read somewhere that since 4.4.4 TB cannot read/write a partition it wasn't installed on. Did you mean that? To create a TB folder on the SD card so TB will have access to the SD card?
Edit: ok, so I tried this method

create a folder on the external sdcard,using the following folder-structure:
/storage/extSdCard/Android/data/com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup/
If you already have existing backups, move them with a file-explorer from their current place to:
/storage/extSdCard/Android/data/com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup/
Lastly, go to the preferences of TitaniumBackup, choose “Backup folder location” and choose the above specified folder.
Finish.
And it does kinda work. I do now have access to my SD card via TB. But it still says there is no TWRP folder on it. I even copied the TB backup to the TWRP folder and the TWRP folder to the TB folder. No luck.
Also TWRP doesn't recognize the TWRP backup I created on the SD card even though it recognizes the card itself.
If you copied files to computer:
It adds .zip extension to tar.gz files
And .txt extension to properties files
That's why program cannot recognize them.
U should delete that extra additions from file names
