Defy froyo kernel signed - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone have a froyo kernel file with signed so that I can install it from Stock Recovery. Because every time I am going to install it , it checks for signature verification and installation aborted. And I cant go to the custom recovery because it wont even open.
If anyone have the file them please give me the link.
Thank you.

[Q] StupidFast Kernel

I am trying to flash the stupidfast kernel to my fascinate through rommanager, but when it begins to install the new rom it fails. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
It fails to install while you are in clockwork?

Ok, so here is what i did (note that my phone is already rooted) I downloaded rom manager premium, in rom manager i clicked "flash clockwork mod recovery" i then clicked "download rom" went into the "geeknik" file downloaded "stupidfast v1.23 (DI01), after the file downloaded the "rom pre-installation" menu came up. I checked backup existing rom, then clicked ok I got a message that said "reboot and install" i clicked ok. The phone reboots to "Androd system recovery <2e>
from there it reads as follows:
-- Install from package...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E: failed to verify whole-file signature
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
I am very new to this, any help would be appreciated. Basically what i am trying to do (and correct me if i am wrong) is install a different kernel to o/c my phone, and install a different rom to make the gui look different. Thanks all!
did you just finish rooting your phone? if so you might have skipped this step

So this worked great, i am just wondering how long it usually takes for a new kernel to install?
Kernels take about 30 sec or so to install via clockwork. If you're enabling voodoo when the phone restarts, it will take about 5 minutes or so to convert the partitions.
ok so i try to install the new kernel, it claims that it has installed, but when i go to the "about phone" screen it shows it as running the stock kernel? Any ideas?
The 2.6.29 still being there is normal it won't change even after you flash geekniks its like that with all the kernels for the fascinate I think...if you wanna double check flash one of boot animations from rom manager and if it works then your all set because the stock kernel won't allow custom boot animations...wow that was longer than I thought it would be sorry...

Use SetCPU or Quadrant to look at the info. Both show more than just the kernel version and there is info in there that will let you know if it updated properly, such as a unique build tag or build date for the kernel. The reason that it still looks like stock is that currently they can only get the stock kernel source working properly with the device, so all kernels are based on the same version.

What are the files to download and flash to get RCmixHD

HI all,
Ca you help me in flashing RCmixHD [2.3.3,SENSE 2.1,720p video,tb unlock] v1.0.1 ROM. I need to know which are the files I have to download and flash. Thanks in Advance.
With regards

There is a whole section titled ROM links, it shouldn't be that hard to work out :/
If you're generally referring to flashing a custom rom then have a good read at the Nexus One wiki, it'll help you understand a little more.

It might help if you read the posting fully. You need to download all three files.
1. RCmixHD 1.0
2. USB Fix
3. 1.0.1 Update
Install them in this order, reboot between each install. And make sure you fully wipe your device first.
What about for Version 1.1.. I think i can download that single file and flash the ROM..

Disable signature verification(If you're using RA Recovery, you can see 'toggle signature...', and I think Clockwork also has such option) and try it again.

Although it warns about unsigned ROM/updater, I think if it is from reliable developer, it's usually OK, though I feel developers should sign their .zip files after packing is done.
thanks.. i have flashed already

[Q] CM MOD on SGS

Hey guys,
so, a lot of my quetstions will be already posted, but i can´t find them all.
So i hope i annoy no one here ;-).
Ok, now to the important:
I have a SGS until 6 month. over the time i learnd a lot of android and i´m very lucky with them.
Then i heard from cyanogenmod. and all i read about it is great.
i have knowledges about root of linux an so of android.
So, during my research i have a lot of question before i flash my sgs:
- i found only one forum enty where i read i have to format all partitions.
So, how do i flash a sgs?
i have a modded boot rom with root and clockwork mod.
I tried a backup of the system.
the rom manager don´t show ne the cm7 mod for my device.
Do anyone know why? because the RC status?
When i get an error, how can i rollback my firmware with the backup?
Which pc software i need?
my plan ist to flash the sgs with the experimental version, no nightly build.
CWM makes al lot if IMG files. the cm7 zip has only one IMG.
So, i hope anyone can tell some or send my some nice links.
thanks a lot :-D
ravn
Use this
Boom, that's how it's done folks.

Hey,
thanks guys.
So, can anyone explain me how i can go back to the original rom if i got any probs or even i want?
So, i made a backup with Titanium Backup (premium user) and secondly with CWM.
So, i copied them to my PC.
CWM makes some IMG files. So, how can i rollback them to my device?
Also if i try to create a rom image with the rom manager the recovery manager makes a error.
:-D
So, i get by saving my rom the following error:
-- Installing package ...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E: failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
Why do the rom manager want to install a package by making an backup?
PS: i have the rooted bootloader: PDA_XXJVK_Sbl.tar installed.
to revert back to you need to revert to a stock rom. using odin and a full PDA froyo will do the job.
Hey,
so u mean, i have to download the offical rom and install them over odin.
then i have to root them and install CWM and reverse the backup.
is that right?

Flash Cyanogen over CWM

Hello,
i got a problem, i want to flash cyanogen over CWM. At first i flashed my phone to another Firmware, i used the tutorial.
The flash worked and now i want to flash cyanogen over CWM, but all time i got this Message in the recovery:
E: Failed to verify whole-file signature
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
Someone can help me please??
I got the following building on my Samsung Galaxy S
Firmware-Version: 2.3.6
Basisbandversion: I9000XXJVU
Kernel-Version: [email protected] #2
Buildnummer: GINGERBREAD.XXJVU
It was my first time, that i flashed my phone, i wish someone can help me.
P.S.: my english is not so good
Redownload cm and try again
I did, but it still not work and show me all time the same fail :-(
Try removing your external sdcard and then going into CWM
you are trying to flash an unsigned zip in stock recovery. the stock recovery checks if the zip is signed. if it is, the recovery applies the update. but the zip you are flashing is not signed, so it checks the zip and cannot find a signature. then it aborts the installation.
your solution is to flash a custom kernel, for example Galaxian. after flashing install the zip again, it will work like a charm
if you have any more problems, don't hesitate to send me a PM in German
I wrote you a message Noobproof, hope you understand

You must have stock recovery from (pull it) the XML, unzipped. Use Rashr tools to flash the img.

Sorry... What? I'm going to ask the noobest question forever (and I'm coming from I5500 and go from ROM to ROM with ODIN :silly
What img? Do you mean the stock recovery (I felt stupid asking this) or the update.zip? Assuming it's an update.zip what I don't know where it is

In order to take the ota you need the original recovery from the build you have now. Once you unzip the firmware (xml.zip) it will be the recovery.img file. Flash that with Rashr tools from Play. I assume you have a VIRGIN phone/root file structure, if not the ota will still bomb out. In that case RSD LITE restore the whole XML. Be sure to backup the current ROM even if it is not custom.
The stock recovery img... But even with that it still may not update if you have modified your system any.... Debloated deodexed xposed these things may prevent the update..

I really fix it making a backup of everything and after re-installing the ROM :silly:
