Verizon G2 missing noise cancelling mic? - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I see the cutout for the mic on the Verizon store purchased TPU case, but there's no hole in the case for the mic... just hard plastic.
Is this a defect?

I don't think this is a defect. Some of the other versions may have an extra noise cancelation mic. The cut out is there so that the cases can be universal.

i have the verizon g2. i see a hole at the top and bottom for mic

He's talking about the one on the back, above the camera. Its for the dynamic voice feature where when taking a video, and u zoom in on someone, its supposed to localize audio on what ur zoomed in on. I guess the vzw version doesn't have this...

Right, yet the VZW-specific TPU cases have a hole for it.
Thanks, VZW, for removing a potentially useful feature. At least I have useless (to me) Qi charging...

my Verizon TPU case doesn't have the hole for it..

That nub or cancer wart is where the hole would b on other phones. But vzw opted for qi charging instead.

This is the commercial for it. Obviously it wouldn't work as well...but I'm wondering how useful it is.
So basically all for the Qi charger...verizon:
Made the phone a tad bit thicker
Made the buttons rear buttons smaller
First two makes us different so we have to have "special" cases....
Took out the "audio zoom" mic.

I mean, we still have audio zoom.. i've just never tested it to know how it actually works compared to another, and i probably won't. videos are terrible on this phone so I'm avoiding making them until they fix it.

Anyone else get a phone with dead pixel(s)?

Hey XDA!
My Nexus 4 arrived, but it came with a fairly noticeable dead pixel in the center.
I got it RMA'd, but I'm just wondering if this is a widespread issue. Has anyone else gotten dead pixels on theirs too?

Lol yes. The software keeps track of each individual pixels working status and if ones dead it will not show in output. Just like if you have your laptop plugged into a projector and smash the screen in the projector will display the same damage.

RMA it if you can't stand it. Looks like you got a bad one. No issues here on dead pixels.

oh and just so you know here in NZ stock is low but you can still get them easily enough. It's officially stocked by one of our carriers (not modified). The shop I got mine from had 5 in stock.
My 16gb Nexus 4 was all ok until a vertical line of dead pixels appeared few days back. It is only visible on White/Blue background...looks like the pixels are unable to generate Blue.
Will get it RMA'd.

[Q] Nexus 4 dreams.

Any one else had a Nexus 4 dream yet?
I was in a hotel room in my dream with the Nexus 4 charging on the nightstand. I woke up and the battery had expanded so large inside that the back glass was shattered in half. The phone was bulging and hot. Luckily I woke up to find my phone OK, but it was under the pillow next to me. Screen on. And very warm. Was the NFC calling out to me to unplug it???

Screen video capture possible

Did not now we're to ask but is it possible to screen capture on nexus 7 like flaps on a pc. Or app that records your actions on screen.

This one is your best bet. Seems to work with tegra 3, but clashes with multirom. Let us know how it works on a non multirom system.
The original screencast wont work on tegra 3, but this is a new one by a different developer.

I'd think it wouldn't work based on the Google Play comments left by other Nexus 7 users.

Probably because that's the main layer. I don't know much bout multirom, but it sounds like when I managed to boot CM off an SD card on my old Desire-Z, the actual rom display was a layer on top of the main recovery, so if it's tying into hardware for the recording it might only the recovery screen.
That's my theory anyways, I'm sure the actual developer could fill in the details.

Funny considering that the Play store actually says:
"
This app is compatible with all of your devices.
Asus Nexus 7
T-Mobile LGE Nexus 4
T-Mobile HTC HTC Vision
"
By the way most of the complaints appear to be people who are either stock and unrooted, or have no clue what rooting is. I shall try it on my Nexus 7 with a Non-Multirom OS.
---------- Post added at 02:36 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:30 AM ----------
Hrm not sure I want to do this... (being a rooted application, means could probably act like malware with those advertising options).

I just hit decline for now since I'm testing it. Also I made sure to goto menu and change CPU type to tegra.
---------- Post added at 02:42 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:36 AM ----------
Well that was interesting and unexpected, and I take back what I said bout multirom earlier. I'm getting a 4 panel recording of my recovery (ie: TWRP in 4 corners all purpleish).
I wonder where it's pulling the recovery image from.

Mine doesn't creak, but this is the way I'd go.
I read in an old thread that it was due to misalignment of the back cover, and that people have had success taking the back cover off and stuffing some paper to fill the void.
Mine creaks really bad, it makes it feel like low quality.
Mine creaks on the right side, when i put some pressure on it i hear ,,tick'' noise, I have no idea what it is, any advice?
No creaks here (Sprint G2), and I'm kind of OCD when it comes to unwanted noises and other build quality issues. It seems to be rather well built, despite the use of plastics. Definitely no N5 sort of issues.
I solved this issue by applying Velour Sticky Tapes inside the bottom Case

But Caution: please take attention not to apply Tapes over the Antenna Circuit Areas on the Bottom Case. Can break if you want to remove Velour Tapes and they can harm signal strength

I tried to search here as well as the settings app but came up short. I wonder if we have that option with our phones? I just want to turn off the hardware backlight for the recents and back completely. I just want the cleaner look.

This works perfect. Thanks. S7 Edge always off!
Has anyone have this issue of the back and recent capacitive touch lights not lighting with certain cases?
I have a specific "creit card case" with a flap on the back that closes pretty securely by connecting to a small magnet in the case and I LOVE the case because the "flap" also acts like a tri-fold kickstand similar to some tablet cases in how they fold to pro the device up and it's a really grippy and padded case BUT....when the S7 Edge (in my case) is in the case the lights on the buttons don't light up. The minute I even start pulling the phone out of the case at about 2 inches out near the bottom the ligts come on...nothing in the front of the case is covered by the case itself so I can only assume that it's the magnet in the flap on the back which IS in the lower section of the case.
Thoughts? Would/could this cause permanent damage? What other issues if any have you had with your S7 S7 Edge case?
Thanks all
GO!
Faslane
I've tried this app which works when S7 Edge isn't in case and I also use magnets on backs of other cases for my magnetic car mount but the ones in this case are right at the bottom behind where the capacitive lights would be (just on the back of course) and they don't work. the minute I pull the Edge out of the case from either the bottom or the top, the lights come on at aboit 1.5" out of the case (I don't even have to remove it all the way) so I'm more concerned if this will damage anything or if it'll just make the lights not work and all is ok otherwise...because I really like the case. the brand is called a Vena and it's an off market case but one of the better ones for card etc too so I'm curious....what's everyone think?
